When old programs don’t get along with Vista
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Most of my old programs work just fine with Vista. But I do hear from some readers who have compatibility problems with older programs.
First, I think you’d be smart to put off installing Vista for a while. But some of you will install it anyway and others will end up buying a new computer that already has Vista installed.
If you run into problems running an old program, you may be out of luck and need to buy an updated version of that program. Before you do that, however, try this.

Talk about systems incompatibility… the link to this blog says hhttp instead of http. Maybe AJC should fix the link first.

A year ago I bought a new computer with XP installed and I dislike XP so badly that I doubt I'll ever purchase Vista.By edge770

well, there is what’s called XP compatibility mode that allows you to run older applications as if in XP in Vista. Works great so far. Stop scaring people. Educate and show work arounds. Vista is a awesome operating system, that does require investment, but so has every other operating system.

To heck with software, I would first need to get my hardware working with Vista. I ran the MS compatibility test program and many of my peripherals won’t work with Vista - especially my Color Laser printer. Take the Technobuddy’s advice and wait a while for the non-Microsoft partners to catch up with both hardware drivers and software for Vista.

I’d rather have Bill Gates solutions, than the hippie lack of deodorant socially inept fools that love such non-starters as Linux. Mac OS X is cool, but until the hardware is under 1000 for good stuff, Apple computers will remain a niche product. Microsoft isn’t without faults, but beats stuff like Red Hat..
