Another bunch of Bulldogs?

This will be a short blog. I’m hopping on a plane first thing in the morning to fly up towards West Point.

That’s right…I’ll probably be the only Georgia Tech fan in Michie Stadium on Saturday. Originally, there were supposed to be several thousand of us headed up there. But then Army backed out of the game and Dan Radakovich had to scrounge up Gardner Webb to fill the gap.

I’ll be there for a wedding that was planned the same weekend. My sis-in-law apparently finagled her way into getting married in the campus chapel during Homecoming weekend. (She has a knack for these sorts of things…) I have to give her alot of credit…the original plan was for the wedding to occur the same weekend as the GT vs Army game. It would have been an epic road trip with some site seeing on Friday, tailgating and football on Saturday, and the wedding on Sunday. Its still going to be a great trip and I’m still looking forward to seeing Army play there on their home field…its just that the icing on the cake would have been an actual GT game wrapped up in the middle of it all.

As far as the game here at Tech goes, I don’t think I’ll miss much. Gardner Webb will come in and take their lumps and collect their paycheck and then bow out.

We have a few interesting story lines that have popped up recently…

First, neither Josh Nesbitt nor Jaybo Shaw may play in this game. It might be the Calvin Booker show. If Nesbitt and Shaw are both dinged up, it only stands to reason that Paul Johnson will keep both of them safe and sound in preparation for Clemson next weekend. That means that Calvin Booker will get a chance to get the football for a majority of the snaps. Really…I think that’s great for Booker. He transferred from Auburn and then went through a coaching change that basically renders him ineffective in the base offense that we run. But through it all he has remained positive and a true team player. He doesn’t complain and just wants to get on the field in any capacity possible. Because of this, I expect the other guys on offense will be fired up and ready to play as hard as possible in support of Booker. It won’t matter than Gardner Webb is the opponent. The Jackets offense will be ready to play.

Secondly, we may finally see Marcus Wright get some snaps. The original plan was to redshirt him since he’s a bit small and has been learning how to be a better blocker. Unfortunately, depth at the a-back position may force Paul Johnson’s hand. Keep an eye on this kid when he’s on the field. He is small but he has blazing speed, home run capability, and was a Parade All American coming out of high school. I’d love to see Booker dump a screen or a pass in open space to Wright where he can make something happen. And we definitely need him to get plenty of live snaps and some experience if we are going to need him against Clemson and the upcoming heavyweights in the ACC.

I’ll be checking the scores on my Blackberry and keeping track of Tech and the rest of the games this weekend. I’m looking forward to a 5-1 start, especially considering we’re in the first half of the first season of a new coach and new offensive scheme.

Make no mistake though…after this weekend, the season begins in earnest and the easy wins are all behind us.

So lets hope we get through this weekend with a nice win and no injuries.

Go Jackets!

Short blog? Enjoy your trip as West Point is a very special place, especially in October, and a must-see for any college football fan. I remain very disappointed that we are not playing there this Fall.

I hope the game is on regional tv this week. My son has a birthday party so I won’t be able to make it this week. I hope Booker throws for 400 yards and has 100 yards rushing this week as he deserves some playing time. Enjoy the trip Boggs. THWG!

Pathetic. Gardner-Webb.

This, please note, after you already played Jacksonville State.

It’s not that Tech actually plays a team this season, other than against us. And, you know it.

Several thousand of you were going to go to the game ? B.S. You don’t get several thousand to your own games. Let alone on the road. Why do you always get the dredges of the bowl games ? Because you do not travel.

What it is, is not another bunch of Bulldogs, but a pathetic showing that you would average only 46 thousand per game, less than half what UGA does as the nation’s Number 6 best in attendance by direct comparison.

Free cokes and free hot dogs and the only game you sell out is against The Georgia Bulldogs, and that because we buy them.

Don’t kid yourself it is another bunch of Bulldogs.

Pathetic.

Reuben Houston, Michael Hutts, little Joey Hamilton, Jerrard Tarrant, and your fan base is bored with a worse APR Academic Progress Rate for your football team than Georgia Bulldogs have for our football team. Game on TV ? What for ? No one watches Tech football games, not even you posting in here.

Not even to the historic Grant Field.

You are Number 49 in the nation in attendance is a city of 6 million. Downtown in the slums of a city of 6 million.

46,737 per game in a city of 6 million.

That’s for your 5-1 team, same as UGA, although Tech is not ranked in either the USA Today Coaches’ Poll nor the AP Poll either one in the Top 30 teams in the nation.

Why is this ?

Because there are NOT Georgia Tech football fans.

Thousands of you were going to go to the game out of town.

……..BuLLdawg, Obviously - you and many other ButtLickers are feeling a little insecure these days. As usual, the Dawgs are vastly over rated in the polls. But, now the Yellow Jackets have an outstanding coach who plays to win every game. So, you choose to come onto our blog to whine, rant and voice your insecurity. Rest assured that your idiotic ramblings do not have any effect on confident Tech fans. For us to be bothered by your ramblings, we would have to respect your opinion, which we do not (for obvious reasons). We just consider the source - an insecure Dawg fan. No hard feelings though. We do not waste our time hating, especially those we pity.

As always….BuLLsh!t comes on a tech blog and wastes his time telling us how bad our fans are and how bad our program is. You, sir are completely pathetic.

BuLLdawg- You are a pathetic loser. What are you doing blogging from 4:50 to 6:30am? Did you get off your night shift? Im pretty sure uga hasn’t beaten anyone yet either. The chickens were the only team with a winning record (non-FCS). But thats not the point. The point is that you are a pathetic loser, and not even other uga fans like you. You blog with such anger, and for hours at a time. What, did it take you all of that time to look up stats? Of did you write something, and then sit back and think about how clever you are, and decide to write more? Meth is a heck of a drug buddy. And you are a heck of a pathetic loser. You embarass yourself and your team.

bullQdawg…….. Your ego does not impress us. You must be the dumbest one in the blog world. I cannot believe your hyped up dogs are only #6 in attendance in the nation. How pathetic. Oh man, Georgia Southern, Central Michigan, Arizona State, and a lame Tennessee team should really strike fear on the schedule. Go look in the mirror and continue to practice that sucking image you do so well.

Typical B.S. Hey, Chipper Towers Top 10 ACC Climpson Farmers LOST in THIS CITY today to a lesser-ranked team in a blow-out to The SEC’s 6th worst ranked SEC team, Alabama.

If Bama is the 6th worst team in the SEC, where does that leave UGA?

After stomping the Miss. State bulldogs 38-7 (they only lost by 1 to auBarn and by 10 to LSwho) and then watching alabammmer stomp the ugag bulldogs (31-0 at the half….OUCH), the Gardner-Webb running bulldawgs may be the toughest bulldogs Tech plays this year!!!!!! And Thank God and Greyhound that Chan Gailey is GONE forever!!!

Come on fellow Jacket fans! Let’s not get down in the mud with the lower end of the “bulldog nation.” I have a close circle of friends, all retired high school coaches, who are classy UGA fans. Believe me, they are embarassed by the ignorant “fans” who attach themselves to UGA even though they have never even sniffed the campus, much less attended a class. Let’s be proud of the fine job Coach Johnson and his staff are doing with our team. Love the way the Jackets are playing, win or lose!

…did someone say something worth responding to… didn’t think so.

Anyway, I think it will be great for Booker to get a start and keep Shaw and Nesbitt healthy for Clemson. I still prefer to redshirt Wright if at all possible. I’m thinking with Booker in, we’ll change the offense slightly to fit him better, maybe putting slightly less importance on the A nd B backs, so maybe we make it without using Wright. Coach Johnson I’m sure will make the right decision either way.

I still wish Army had not backed out on us so late, it would be much better still playing them this weekend!

I’m for Booker. I stated some time ago that he is a great team player with a fantastic attitude. I hope he gets some real playing time. He’s a great guy.

Hey B*DOG, Why can’t y’all spell the animal correctly? Thanks for trolling the GT pages like many of your insecure comrades. For a team who’s put together at 7-year run (no thanks to Chan and RB), y’all sure to seem to be concerned about what’s happening on the Flats. In case you haven’t been paying attention, the West Pointers placed us into this arrangement with G-W about this same time last year. How many seasons are already planned out years in advance … and now we have to jump through hoops to find someone who has an open date. This was to be the second part of a non-conference home-and-home series with Army, made when Coach Ross was their boss … but y’all wouldn’t know anything about playing a non-conference opponent further away than GT or Clemson, now would you. Hope you enjoyed the ASU (who’s sinking fast) win because it may be the only one you see in your lifetime.

As for Saturday, I think it would be awesome for Booker to play the whole game … and to see lots of passing! Give Clemson NOTHING to prep for.

CPJ is great at playing mindgames with opponents. Duke loads up the defensive box in order to stuff the run … fine, we can pass too. Brillant. You have to assume coaches around the ACC went “oh, crap” when CPJ dropped that one on ‘em.

I have met this guy (buLLdawg) probably a thousand times, I can see him now, has on his 4 yr old Dog hat that needed the oil changed about 200,000 miles ago, certainly never darkened the door of any institute of higher learning. No self esteem so has to live vicariously thru the accomplishments of people he never has or will ever associate with. Tell us BuLLdawg, what are your accomplishments?

If you are bragging that you have more fans, then what is your point? The number of fans isn’t a competition. Yes you have lots more students, casual fans, money, girls, everything…so…why is it we’ve gotten at least a share of a NC ten years since you have? Hint: because you judge your life by a college football team…looser.

Tech wins and has significant history IN SPITE of the reality that we are a tiny school compared to UGA. What’s your point? Grow up.

Going to need some players with some gametime experience for the game coming up with Clemson and the other heavyweights of the ACC. Which Heavyweights were you refering to Chris? surely not the ones who played on ESPN on Thursday night.

no logic whatsoever to your blog. What does attending a class at UGA have to do with being a fan of UGA? If your child played sports for a high school team, could you not be a fan of his if you hadn’t attended a class at the same school?

I think it’d be awesome if we come out on our first possession in a pro-set, single tailback, one tight end, and for one whole possession just run counters nothing but very traditional offense. Just a little wrinkle… just to show Clemson and the rest of the ACC that we can.

I continue to see the comments about Tech’s attendance in the midst of 4.6 million people. What the crap does that have to do with anything. Do you think the population of the city are Tech Alumni? Most of these people have nothing to do with Tech, and could care less about going to their sporting events. Also, the fans that do come are either alumni, friends/family of alumni, or just like college football in general. Unlike UGA that has a huge fan base that haven’t gone to school there, brag incessinantly about the the dawgs, drive pick em up trucks, and live in trailers.

Historian-

You might be one of the most ignorant people in the world. Fan bases are built on the success of a program, and GT just has not been successful over the last 10 years. Sure they have had seasons here and there where they made a little noise, but nothing consistent, that is why GT has a hard time selling tickets. UGA on the other hand has been a national power over the last 10 years and with that comes exposure and that is how a fan base is built. It has nothing to do with where people live or what they drive, those are just ignorant statements.
