Enjoy Johnson while you can

I’m headed to the Gator Bowl and I plan to soak up every minute that Calvin Johnson is on the field. Although my heart tells me that Calvin might stay for another year, my head tells me that he’s headed for the draft. So, when we’re on offense, I’ll be glued to #21. Actually, that would be a great strategy for West Virginia’s defense.

It’ll be nice to see a fresh face at quarterback. I doubt that Taylor Bennett has enough experience to put together a stellar game, but at least he’s tall enough to see over the line. Maybe we’ll see some balls thrown over the middle! Let’s never again play a quarterback who’s shorter than 6’.

Taylor has a fine supporting cast around him, so he won’t have to light it up for Tech to win. The O-line is solid and Tashard Choice is a great back. We can win even if Taylor is average, but not if he’s lousy.

You’ve got to think that the Tech defense is agitated. All they’ve heard for the last month is how fast/electric/dynamic the WV offense can be. My guess is that they’ve got a chip on their shoulder and are looking forward to the challenge.

West Virginia has never won a Gator Bowl (0 for 5), so I see no reason why this trend shouldn’t continue. Tech is not the attractive pick in this one. I’d be surprised if any so-called experts pick us to win, but that is precisely when we play our best. It’ll take our best and a little luck, but I know we can pull one out. See you in Jacksonville.
