What to Watch

Tech is off today, but the ACC slate is pretty good:

Virginia at Duke, noon: When was the last time Duke was a 7-point favorite?

The Cavaliers are in disarray, having just dismissed their second starting QB since January. The Blue Devils (2-1) are actually generating excitement in Durham thanks to coach David Cutcliffe, and they should — well, could — break their 25-game ACC losing streak before visiting Tech next week. I’m looking forward to watching Duke QB Thaddeus Lewis and WR Eron Riley, who has 5 TD catches.

Maryland at No. 20 Clemson, noon: Since their humiliation in the Georgia Dome, the Tigers have outscored their last three opponents 126-26. Maryland has put up 86 points in its last two wins, over Cal and Eastern Michigan. And they might get RB Da’Rel Scott back from injury. Terps have won two of their last three at Death Valley. This one should be entertaining.

UNC at Miami, noon: This is a bad spot for the Tar Heels, who just lost QB T.J. Yates for at least 6 weeks with a fractured ankle. The Hurricanes are coming off a huge win at Texas A&M and, under coordinator Patrick Nix, finally boast a decent offense. UNC is looking at an 0-2 ACC start.

Among the nonconference matchups, the most intriguing is Virginia Tech traveling to Nebraska for an 8 p.m. game. The Hokies will give first-year head coach Bo Pelini his first real rest. One key factor is how well QB Tyrod Taylor’s sprained ankle responds.

So which ACC games interest you the most, and why?

I will be most interested in seeing what Duke has since we play them next week. And there are two pretty good matchups in the eveneng slot that I want to check out too….

One more week! We’ll see what the dookies have, today. Will be more interested to see how VT stands against the cornholes-a tough place to play, and what the tigs do with the terds. I want the sack sniffers to be number one when we play them! Go Jackets-

Everybody talks about how weak the ACC is this year, but with Duke playing like a Division I team again there are no Sister of the Poor teams in this conference like years past.

note to “GT”: UVA has replaced DUKE as the ACC’s bottom-dweller/Sister of the Poor.

Al Groh will be fired. DUKE 17, UVA 3 end of 3rd qtr.

The whole ACC is nothing but sisters of the poor dumbazz. Maybe worse than the PAC 10.

if we don’t shore up our passing D, Duke could be 2-0. Ba ha ha ha ha ha…..I’m only kidding. UVA still outgained them offensively so we’ll be in good shape as long as we don’t turn the ball over 6 times. Hey, OSU beat USC so don’t kid yourselves and say that you aren’t concerned at some point. And yes, I’m talkig you to you too, Dawg fans. You all think your invincible. Better buy some more depends.

With all the so-called “upsets” today….I think the term is over used because there are a lot of good teams. Oregon St. took it to So Cal on Thurs.

Ole Miss took one from Florida. Ole Miss clearly had the ability to be in the game and get it done in The Swamp. Good athletes. Well-coached….against the #4 team in the country.

Miss St. put up a good fight in Baton Rouge….after we flattened them last week. Some of this talk of which conference is better or worse gets a bit laughable…there I digress….

The point is……

WE BETTER BE FOCUSED AND READY FOR DUKE NEXT WEEK. IF NOT WE COULD GET TAKEN OUT. DON’T KID YOURSELF INTO THINKING IT CAN’T HAPPEN BECAUSE IT CAN. Coach Cutcliffe has gotten some confidence into them and they will come in ready to make a statement. Count on it…..

I feel very good, based on results thus far, that Coach Johnson will have our team focused and ready to go. Duke’s apparent “beat down” of UVa should help make the case.

This is one we “should” win. But just because we should doesn’t mean we will. Our guys have to go out and earn it no less than any other week. Don’t sell the visitors from Durham short. They will come to play and we better be prepared.

GO JACKETS!!!!

Greetings from Baghdad, y’all. We have a chance to win each game if GT plays smartly. Coach Johnson will use the results from the games this weekend to drive home “teachable moments”. First, turnovers will cost you a game … just ask Wake. Second, success lies in controlling the trenches. And third, play disciplined defense. I was encouraged to read reports about the D-line focusing on gap assignments. Maintaining the lanes and playing smart pass defense will go a long way.

Go Jackets!

cpgt1990:

Also thank you for serving our country!

Where are we….

Yep, as I posted on the last thread a big SITYS about Duke and UVA, individually and collectively.

Don’t count Half @$$ U out yet.

The Candy Canes are still young and can make mistakes and Carowhina can play with a man down. Neither game can be overlooked.

It’s official: Clempsun is completely out of the “automatic L” column. That just leaves UGA as an automatic L (unless, wishfully thinking, they go into a tailspin after the Bama loss).

Scary thing is we will lose one or two more ACC games, just don’t know where. No idea where (except it won’t be Puke, despite their improvement, or UVA, natch). Good thing is is running the table in the rest of the ACC is really possible.

Impressed with the TMNTerps. Glad we don’t have to play them (unless the Hoagies lose 2 and we back into Tampa). Maybe the Fridge is back.

Wake: Shame on the Deacs!!!
