Today is Big
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Today’s noon kickoff against Mississippi State is about as important as an early-season nonconference game can be.
First of all, it’s against the SEC and a top-notch defense.
Second, Tech wants to show its promising start is no mirage.
Third, Tech must win 7 games to be bowl-eligible because it is playing two I-AA opponents.
Finally, the off week will be a lot more pleasant if the Jackets get to 3-1.
A win is a win is a win, but aside from getting the W, I think Tech fans want to see certain things today:
Can QB Josh Nesbitt play turnover-free football?
Will DE Michael Johnson have his breakout game?
Will WR Demaryius Thomas get a chance to make plays?
Let me know what else you’ll be looking for today, and enjoy the game.

If we break even in the turnover dept. and the dline puts pressure on their qback we should be ok. I hope the fans turn out in big numbers today.

The thing I’m looking for: when will an A-back get over 100 yards.
The other thing I’m looking for: will the O-line start to move the line of scrimmage like they talked about in the spring and early fall?

Tech has played some really good defenses so far this year in BC, Vippie Sue, and today, Miss St, so I’m not really sure how you can gauge how far along the young team is with the new “O”.
That being said, I’d like to see Dwyer get back into form with a + 100 yard day, and as you already alluded to, I’d like Nesbitt to perform without putting the ball on the ground.
It would be nice to BayBay have a big day, since he seems to be 100% committed to blocking downfield in this system. Pay him back by calling an 80 yard fly pattern or something.
I think GT wins 24-6 today. Without turnovers, it could be even more.
Also, Ted, it is NEVER too early to drink bourbon..in the fall, in the South, on game day.

If you have the internet and your ISP allows it, you can watch the GT game on espn360.com. And did I mention it’s free.
MS State running back just hurdled a Tech player. Way the heck more impressive than Knowshon’s a couple of weeks ago.

Tech’s defense is doing it. Michael Johnson is like kudzu - he’s all over everything, everywhere on the field.
The offense just scored another TD, btw. Just another day at the office.

Techsters are racking up the points (and yards) on offense. I sure hope the Dawgs are watching and taking some notes on how it’s done for their game tonight against AZ. State.

I don’t think I have ever seen a team do this well with this many idiotic penalties.

When I’m wrong, I admit it and I was REALLY wrong on this one. I was convinced that this would be a bad day for us. Boy was I off!
So, is Auburn that bad? How did THAT team hold Auburn to 3 points?
Maybe I will change my nickname to “Beecoming a beeliever.”
Impressive showing by the home team.

beeliever, what will it take for you to be a believer?
Do we need to hand half a hundred at clemson giving up no points with our band playing the entire second half?
Currently, there is no reason to not be one.

Hamstring problems. With the week off he might be ready for Duke, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see Shaw start, and us try to rest Nesbitt another week if he aint p to snuff by then.
I don’t think it is too serious though.

GT blasted a vaunted SEC defense using our back-up QB. I’ll take that. GO JACKETS!
