Gameday Tidbits

Reading the pre-game coverage in Boston, a few things jump out:

BC coach Jeff Jagodzinski doused footballs in a bucket of water before using them in practice this week. Chance of rain: 90 percent in the morning, 70 percent at kickoff.

Eagles QB Chris Crane — who ran for 2 TDs but threw for just 106 yards last week in his first start since taking over for Matt Ryan — sounds like he’s itching to air it out more. He threw 18 passes last week, completing 12. Understandably, coaches didn’t want to ask him to do too much. If B.C. opens it up more in Week 2, that means more chances for Morgan Burnett. The Tech safety picked off two in the opener.

Listen to the way Eagles LB Mark Herzlich (8 tackles, 1 INT against Kent State) described preparing for CPJ’s offense:

“If you are assigned to cover the pitch, you can’t be looking at what the QB is doing, it goes against your natural instincts of how you always played the game, which is to simply follow the ball,” he told the Boston Globe. “….We have to forget what we’ve learned about playing the game and just concentrate on our assignments. This is different because if you miss the assignment, there is no one backing you up because the other players are working on their own assignments.”

Today we finally start learning the answer to the question that’s been talked about for months: how will CPJ’s offense work against a top-flight ACC defense?

One game won’t say anything definitive. But I can’t wait to watch that matchup.

What matchup are you most interested to see?

The greatest thing about this game is that Chan Gailey won’t be there. Never again will he be allowed to destroy Tech football. Thank God and Greyhound that he is gone and we now have a REAL college football coach.

Hey m

Enough is enough man. True the guy wasn’t the greatest coach in the world and I’m happy for the change, but he is a man of integrity and character and doesn’t deserve to be belittled by your childish remarks every day. You’ve spoken your mind many times, we got your point, now quit wasting our time reading the same post every stinking day. Thanks alot

GREAT JOB D!!! We are giving up way to many 3rd downs, but when it matters the D is coming up big. Nice job by CPJ on the time out to ice the kicker. Lets hold on to the ball in 2nd half and win this one.

Tech will get a big turnover somewhere. BC is not that perfect!

The heat/humidity will wear BC down more than GT if we can keep the D off the field some.

If we can hang onto the ball we will win.

Our young, inexperienced defense grew up a LOT today. Without a stellar defensive effort, we don’t walk away with a win.

We still need to get the fumbling problem under control but it sure was nice to watch ‘em get one on the road today.

Now it’s time to sit back and wait for all of the UGA fans who said BC would kill us today. I’m sure they’ll report in to eat their share of crow.

Wating… waiting… waiting…

Ah, silence is golden.

Tech82, they’ll never stop.

I think the template for hater comments will be along the lines of “Tech’s offense was still terrible.” “BC’s offense is no good this year” “We overestimated BC and if their offense was any good, they would have won” “Doesn’t matter anyways, the ACC is worse than the Sun Belt” “Congratulations, you beat a bad BC team”

So please, haters, I’ve covered everything, no need to post repetitive comments.
