Georgia Tech gets to pitch its Sunday starter (Zach Von Tersch) Monday night against a team playing its fifth game in four days, and the winner advances to a super regional. Phrased that way, the Yellow Jackets are in a great position.
Tech has to play the SEC regular-season champion on that team’s home field, and that SEC regular-season champion has won three consecutive games and had to use its bullpen for only two innings on Sunday, a third of an inning less than Tech’s bullpen worked though Tech pitched one game and Georgia two. Phrased that way, the task sounds a lot more daunting.
If Tech wins, this will be a successful season, regardless of what happens in the super regional. If Tech loses, …

Got to agree wih you Mike. Tech looked well rested…for nine innings today!!! All fun aside this is the way it should be two overachievers square off for a chance to move on. Ought to be a good one. (one side note- Thank goodness the NCAA abandoned the early afternoon start for a Monday final.)

It’s our turn to knock them out at home. They did it us. It’s time to return the favor. I expect Tech to play loose and to come out swinging. They know how to beat UGA. They already smacked them twice in the regular season and one time was on Foley Field. If any Tech team can beat UGA to move on, it’s this one. We have the hitters. Today was a rarity so don’t expect the same outcome tomorrow. Even if Tech doesn’t win, runs will defintely be scored. We will not be going out quietly. Come on Jackets, take it to ‘em!

I have no idea who will win, both are good teams, and I just hope both represent, play well, and that we get a good game. I also hope Tech wins, but this is baseball, go ask the 90’s Braves how often the best team wins in a short series.

I expect the coach to light a fire under these guys and see them highly motivated to win and advance while beating UGA soundly. However, that would be quite a surprise based on past performance. Sort of like what we got with Chan Gailey versus what we expected. I’m ready to be surprised, Go Tech!
