Tech men finally get it done

When Georgia Tech allowed Clemson to get back-to-back offensive rebounds, and the Tigers had the ball and a chance to tie, I was thinking “here we go again,” but Zach Peacock got the next rebound, and made the free throws, and the Yellow Jackets finally got a big home victory.

Sure, it’s too little too late, but it was impressive to see, nonetheless. Tech 80, Clemson 75.

If Tech keeps playing (with heart-like they did tonight) strong going into the tourn, no team will be happy to play them. Sure would be fun watching Tech play in the final game at Charlotte! Hey, it could happen.

This team is due some breaks. Beat BC on Saturday and then you neverknow how far we might go in thetourney. This is one of those years where every ball has bounced the other way it seems. That being said we still have not plaayed as well as we should. We are the worst team I have seen at getting beat off the dribble. Hewitt will be retained but next year is very importnat.

I think this team could make a serious run in the ACC tourney….lets hope Tech Administration is smart enough to bring in some new blood among the mens assistant coaches for next year!

Are you people OUT OF YOUR MIND? One close win at home over a Clemson team that had an off night shooting and you are ready to do some damage in the ACC tournament?

Check out your overall record! Do you think all those 16 losses were flukes?!

Paul Hewitt…if you play hard and have some “nice pieces” why are you 13-16?

Get real, people.

I was happy for the seniors, who really dug in their heels and defended their home court for the last time. Each one had a good game, and we beat a very good team.

The enthusiasm is admirable, but we just lost to last place UVA on Monday. Until Hewitt is replaced, our hoops team is going to continue to struggle.

We had a wonderful Tickle Pile after the game. Clemson was not the only Tigers in town. You should have heard all the growls!!!

This game wasn’t about Hewitt, or the coaches, or about underacheiving. It was about 3 seniors who have made impact contributions having a great night. With few exceptions , this team has played hard every game. People who look at the record and gripe about Morrow and Smith are REALLY going to miss them next year. For those who think Clinch and Dickey are the cavalry, you are in for a serious reality dose. Thanks AMo, Matt and Jeremis. You will be missed.Sorry this year turned out the way it did for your senior season.

Well we finally won a close one at home. But it was typical of the season at the end, where we did everything possible to let Clempson tie the game, they just couldn’t do it. Did you folks see this game and the whole season. Our senior leader Mr. Smith missed a point blank shot in the last minute and then failed to get a rebound off a missed FT to give C a chance. And Zach P played a great game but also missed a point blank shot at the end to keep it close. If we could hit a few end game shots and grab a few more rebounds we might actually win a game or two in the tourney. But as they say, if ifs and buts were candy and nuts…

I don’t understand the optimism of winning one close game at home. Geez, you people are in need of a good, stark, reality. This team stinks and the coach is overrated. We’re losing 3 seniors this year and replacing them with one recruit. Do the math on next year. Hewitt has got to go.

RAMBLE ON!:

Congratulations!! That has to be the post of the year so far!!

If only it wasn’t true.

Yurtle:

Yes, we are losting 3 seniors. Actually 2 and a half - Matt Causey does not really count.

But the one recruit we have coming in could make a great contribution next year. Plus don’t forget we should get Dickey back also, and we aren’t losing any of the underclassmen like in the past.

Hey Mike, maybe you could ask Hewitt why Causey wasn’t on the floor at the end of the game? Hewitt decides to take him out in the last minute as an “offense for defense” move to get Mo Miller in and Mo proceeds to commit 2 fouls. Are you kidding me? Causey should have been on the floor at the end just like Jeremis and Morrow as time expired in his final game at home. Does anyone in their right mind think Miller gives you any more of an advantage on defense than Causey? What, Miller is 6’ 1” and Causey is 5’ 11”? Get a clue GT coaching staff. Maybe I am making too much of it but it really ticked me off.

This season yeah in was upsetting but hey I don’t think anyone can complain, The people calling for Paul’s head are the same ones that called for Cremins resignation! The difference is Cremins lost Marbury, and got no real prospective talent besides Harpring afterwards. Hewitt, lost Young, and Jarvis can it looks to me that he’s got two good ones in Lawal and Miller, plus getting Dickey back next year…. Tech is dangerous ACC tourney team right now but a dangerous NCAA team next year, Hewitt will be fine, Great recruiter, and I don’t think anyone should jump off the bandwagon after a losing season after losing players like Young and Jarvis.

Hey, GT80…what do you expect from tech players…perfection? You complain about Jeremis “missing a shot”, “not getting a rebound” and Peacock “missing a point blank shot”. I don’t know where you played your D-1 BB,, but where I did the other team also wanted to win, and didn’t usually stand back to let you get a rebound, or give you uncontested lay-ups. I suspect you never played any b-ball except maybe in your driveway. Jeremis Smith is not the most gifted player to come along at Tech, but few have played harder and gotten the most from their talent. Sorry, it just p!sses me off when I hear comments like yours from people who clearly don’t know anything about playing the game at a high level.
