Tenuta sighting, and more
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
I’m at Russ Chandler Stadium today. So is Jon Tenuta, Notre Dame assistant football coach, with, I believe, one of his sons. Yes, that Jon Tenuta.
Another celebrity sighting, sort of: Drew Saberhagen is pitching for Western Carolina. Yes, he’s the son of former Kansas City Royals ace Bret Saberhagen.
It really is a great day for baseball, believe it or not, and after what happened at Alexander Memorial Coliseum Monday night, and with spring football still more than two weeks away, isn’t it time for spring sports?
Actually, I switch back to winter sports later this week, with coverage of Tech’s women’s basketball team from the ACC tournament at Greensboro, N.C. The Yellow Jackets have a must-win first-round game against Miami that should assure them of an NCAA tournament berth. If you can’t be there, you can watch it on TV, assuming you’ve got cable at work and can sneak a peek when the boss isn’t looking.

In the last 10 years the baseball alumni may be making more money as professionals than anybody at Tech. Anyone added it up. Next year Tex is a free agent and he should be the highest paid athlete from Tech.

Tenuta’s get the quarterback or die defense was overrated…but at least he tried hard. If Chan Gailey would have allowed the offense to score points, Tenuta’s defense would have been fine. Chan Gailey is abolutely the worst coach in the history of college football….THANK GOD AND GREYHOUND HE IS GONE!!

GT The men’s basketball alumni are doing pretty well for themselves, too. No, I don’t have the numbers. I’d say football probably ranks third, though.

Why don’t you go and write on your own UGA blog at AJC.
Got nothing better to do then bashing people that are twice as intelligent as you are?

“does the GT baseball players” …… You should have actually gone to your remedial English class in Athens. In real life, you do appear to be an idiot.

blackdawg is tech fan posing as a dawg fan. If you’re twice as intelligent as everyone, shouldn’t you have realized that?

Mike or Matt, Iman Shumperts high school team lost in the IL state tourney last night, but no mention of him in the article in the Chicago Tribune. Either of you know if he played or not? Another kid was the leading scorer.
Go Jackets!!

GT Fan,
Shumperts high school team lost to Whitney Young, a team with six legit D-1 guards including Michael Jordan’s kid. Did not see game, but the way Young plays D, would no have expected an opposing guard to lead scoring

Lighten up wreck fans,After 30+ years of watching Tech sports, I assure you I,ve seen worse and please don’t mention football in a negetive way,you know, ugaly could win 3 national championships(NOT) in a row and they would still only be tied with the Ramblin Wreck of Georgia Tech, tradition at its best,so quit your whinning like the mutts and speak positive.Long after were dead and gone there will always be next year!. In loving memory of Jimmy Pharr who turns the heavens gold ,for he had the love of tech at heart.TO HELL WITH UGA,ROLL WRECK!

At least the people from UGA dont kill hawks with golf balls like a former member of Tech - and you guys talk about how smart you are. Thats the dumbest thing I have ever read,-other than a GT football roster.

eye for an eye- killing hawks w/ golf balls is about the same as killing squirrels with a sling shot. Its something an 8 year old would do, I agree. But I’ve heard worse things from UGAY players in the past as well.
As for Shumpert, winning the Chicago City and Illinios state championship is not an indicator of how good an individual is. Did Marbury or Anderson win their respective state tourneys? NY and Chi Town are the two most competitive and talented city high school leagues in the country. I can’t wait to watch this “one and done” play for us then bolt for the NBA.
