Clemens or Clemson, which is more interesting?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Hey, far be it from me to believe that I should change the subject away from Tech sports, but what about this hearing with Roger Clemens? Holy smokes! I’ve only watched about 15 minutes on and off, but I’ve seen enough to know that’s like watching a car crash. Interesting, but painful.
You have to wonder if Clemens is the exact opposite of Mark McGwire. One guy ran, stuck his head in the sand, and never said much of anything, presumably all in shame. The other is saying all kinds of stuff, defiant to the end, might I suggest arrogant beyond reason. Of course, it’s not arrogance if he’s telling the whole truth. But is he telling the truth? Several congressmen/woman have shot wholes in some of his previous statements.
Yuck!
About Tech, though, I figure they have a very good shot at Clemson tomorrow. The Jackets have won four of their last seven games up there, nearly won last year when Crittenton made quite a shot with 6 seconds left only have Mays (I think) go the length of the court to win it.
Charlotte beat these guys at Clemson. Tech beat Charlotte. Both teams lost at Miami. Both teams won at Virginia, although Clemson beat the snot out of the Cavs.
None of that means anything, of course. But Tech fouls a lot, more than all but seven teams in the nation. Many consider this a problem. It sure can’t be considered a bonus, unless, maybe, Clemson holds form and clanks away at the free-throw line. The Tigers are hitting just 54.5 percent in ACC games. That’s incredible.
And Clemson is 14-14 on Valentines Day. Seriously. Their SID put that in the notes.
Jackets gotta hit the boards better to win, though. That’s not their strong suit.

just a fan (not a coach) but sometimes I just do not understand why Tech commits so many seemingly unnecessary fouls against teams that actually make their free shots. But Clem(p)son is not a team that makes many(see the recent UNC/Clem game) so I can understand that plan against them….somewhat. A “touch” foul on a layup just seems foolish…unless you make sure the layup is not…a layup.

We stay out of foul trouble and this game is ours.

McNamee is a scuzball…but he was way more believable than the arrogant Clemens! The worst part of the hearing was watching our congressmen and women stretch single questions into a five minute diatribes, and still fail to get straight answers! What a waste of time (and money)!

You must not watch many congressional hearings. They are all about face-time for the congressmen, who usually ramble for five minutes, then ask a 5 word question, and interrupt the person who is answering so they can ramble for five more minutes of face-time.
Congress has absolutely no business dealing with this sort of thing. They should return a prorated portion of their salary for wasting taxpayer money on this crap. Do your jobs and fix our country’s real problems! Or better yet, don’t try to fix anything, because your meddling almost always makes things worse.
Go Jackets! As long as they play hard, they’ll win this one, and they have been playing hard most games lately.

Give them both a lie detector test and that will end it!
Good luck to Tech tonight. I agree that many fouls are the result of not being in a defensive position. They reach versus moving their feet. I have to observe it ususally is a hard foul. Also try getting into position for a rebound especially off our defensive boards.

It’ll be interesting for Clemson when the Tigers make the NCAA’s…can’t say the same for the Jackets. Clemson’s far more interesting - in every sport, really - than GT. Sorry Jackets.

Congress may have no business doing this, but Clemens is the reason this is going on. He asked for his day. The folks behind the investigations were ready to close it down. Dumb Clemens Dumb. Also, don’t forget the President put Steroids in the State of the Union address a few years ago. I guess it really must be of national importance to warrant a spot in the SOTU.

Its all part of the Hewitt way, have 10 athletes hack, scratch and claw the other team for 40 minutes, hoping that they will be too tired and beat up at the end of the game to win. It’s ugly to have a team that can’t shoot free throws, inbound the ball, or run an offense, but, its the Hewitt way. Makes you miss Mark Price, huh?

i am glad the clemens circus is over.i do not understand why a dealer was given a deal to turn in drug users.i would have prefered the goverment go after the suppliers, and the managers and trainers that encouraged,or at least allowed, these drugs to be used.mlb management and owners had no complaints when sousa and mcguire had their home run derby going on,and fans were coming back to the game.now former players are facing possible jail time.what hypocrites!good luck with clemson, the way they talk smack you would think they were the gators or something.they even come on the uga blogs spouting off,and the last time i looked we don’t schedule them!we shut up the chickens last night, maybe you guys can shut up cow college north.

Roger reminds me of some of our alums when he denies taking HGH just like some of our grads deny participating in Tickle Piles. They don’t realize how ridiculous they sound. Some were even among the original organizers
