Tech & I look down the road*
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Is Tech going to overlook North Carolina because the Georgia game is a week later?
I don’t know, and I won’t be here to find out. I’m going to the Virgin Islands tomorrow to cover Tech in the Paradise Jam.
Sorry about that.
Matt

I just want to say that this is the first and last time I will ever come on the the Tech blog. several tech bloggers come over to UGA blog and talk trash when none of the students at tech were out of high school the last time tech beat UGA. So why don’t you keep you mouths shut until you win one and then you can run yours mouths for an entire year..

P.S.
Hoopster Iman Shumpert, who commited to the Yellow Jackets, isn’t expected to sign his letter of intent until Thursday.

Tech will lose to UNC because the are supposed to win and beat UGA becasue they are supposed to lose. It is what it is under Gailey.

This is the least informative blog I’ve seen. The only constant conversation amongst Tech fans lately is if Gailey is finally getting fired…yet the only people who act as if they’ve never heard that crazy rumor seem to write about Tech for the AJC. Blogs are supposed to be a place for the beat writer to give opinions and insight…not simply ask basic questions or write the same stuff you can read in the print version. Go read Dave O’Brien’s blog for a perfect example of what we should be getting here. No one expects you to go to that amount of effort, but please give us just one inside piece of information…or speculate on who the next coach might be…or tell us what’s being said behind closed doors…something! Did you even realize that Gailey has finally lost the support of his most loyal fans? From reading this blog, you’d never know it.

hey dawgingatorville, your fans need to take your own advice. Before the Florida game all you ugag fans were talking trash to their fans and until this year the gators have owned you.

dawgingatorville, you are like the pot calling the kettle black. Why don’t you go whine on the Florida Gator blogs? Oh yeah, they whip UGA 9 out of 10 years.
Well, there’s always the Steve Spurrier blog. Oops, same problem. I guess the George O’Leary blog will have to do…Uh oh, here you go again.

From Stewart Mandel at si.com: “…I lived in Atlanta for five years, and it always baffled me just how inflated a perception people have there of that program’s place in the national landscape. Keep in mind, because of my age, I didn’t start following college football until about the mid-’80s, so I missed the Herschel Walker glory years. To me, Georgia was just an average, top-20 type program for most of my life. But to listen to their fans, you’d think Georgia was a USC or Notre Dame. They’ve won two national titles in their entire history, the last one coming 27 years ago. BYU won one more recently.”

I sure hope we come out Saturday ready to play. I worry about how our secondary will fair against UNC’s quaterback. Hopefully, we can put enough pressure on him so that it won’t be a problem.

I’m a long time Tech fan, but if luck’s with the Jackets, they finish 7-5 (as usual). First, NC is no gimme, and ole Butch would love to kick Tech’s butt and establish a winning tradition in this series. Secondly, Tech doesn’t have the guns (with or without Gailey) to beat UGA. At this point in the season, the bulldoggies may be a top five team.

Man I can’t stand Georgia fans. The way they just brag and brag about beating us 6 straight years. I remember when I was a flag boy over at Tech…man good times. Anyway we had some descent teams during my tenure. I mean we had some teams that could almost beat UGA. Thats how good they were. I like to think it was because I was over on the sideline waving the GT colors.
I mean I agree with Stewart Mandel. We shared one in 1990 and that’s as close as we are ever going to get. I mean Stewart Mandel writes for SI so it must be the truth. Although we have not really done anything since. We are on the rebound. We have been rebuilding for 17 straight years. Well if you guys don’t mind I am off to pretend I am a UGA fan who is upset with the program. Big win against Duke this weekend. We should be playing in a BCS bowl. Later trekkies…I mean techies

If you think anyone will believe you are me, idiot, best of luck.
Go back to your red out. Don’t forget to remove your shirt so everyone can be blinded by your neck.

“Tech will lose to UNC because the are supposed to win and beat UGA becasue they are supposed to lose.”
You may have the first part right but to think you have the latter correct is comical.
You probably said you’d beat us last year…
Lucky number 7 is on the way and we all know this to be true.
Is what it is.

Someone has stolen my name….I am going to have to throw out that I was a former d-1 football player and challenge them to a fight.

If the Jackets have the temerity to look past ANYBODY at this point of the season, they will get a rude awakening=loss. And they will be without excuse for the mental lapse.
Make no mistake. I’m 100% behind our team. Always have been. Always will be.
It’s honestly very difficult to know what to expect week to week. That is a statement, not a compliment.
Bottom line: What I hope to see is maximum effort and mistake free play from a mental/preparation standpoint. If we fail to win because the other side executes better or makes better athletic plays…so be it….Just don”t give anything away…That’s all I ask…
To state the obvious, the UGA game is big, admittedly bigger for us because we’ve been on the losing end lately with regularity. That “is what it is.”
They are talented team, as always. You do not beat talented teams if you “give points away”. Those points still count…and you lose. Give away 7 on a fumble last year..loss. Give away 14 on blown coverages in ‘04. Lose. Make them win it. Don’t give it away. Better solution is to go out there and take it to them then take it from them…
We’ll see.

I am a fan, a fan of Chan. Chan is the man and has a plan. First he will beat the heels, hold them down and make them squeal. Win one now for your pride. I hate North Avenue genocide. Beat ol Blue and when you’re done, we’ll come to the Flats and have some fun. Knowshon left, right and up the center, then all through fall and into the winter, we will remember the day in November, when for the seventh time we came out the winner. So go on back into your hive, firing your coach will not revive, your program that is in total shambles, just like the wreck that used to ramble. So leave alone our CHAN the man, get off your wagon, or get a band. FANS OF CHAN unite today, or our friend CHAN will go away. And if he is gone this time next year, we may actually have a coach to fear. So hear me now and hear me loud, I want CHAN, now join the crowd.
Just a fan, a FAN OF CHAN.
Fourteen posts in four hours is more pathetic than my drunken Doctor Seuss imitation. Where did the pride in Tech football go. We get more Tech fans on the Dawg blawg. Get a group and start blogging. On your site, not mine. Now go beat the heels and may the best team win the following Saturday. Yours or mine. Take back the pride.

I think the whole “looking past” thing is overrated. These kids are not thinking like fans. Each game is their game for that week and I think we old guys need to quit projecting our fear on them.
I think current Tech players care about the ACC and they care about beating conference opponents. They may be flat, they may play poorly, who knows? But it won’t be because they are “looking past” UNC. It will be coaching and team dynamics.
I think they beat UNC.

The quote below sums up Tech’s football program best. Are you kidding me? What a complete joke!
“Right now, the one in Nasvhille [the Music City Bowl] would be a big-time game, going to play an SEC team,” linebacker Shane Bowen said.

I wish the AJC did a better job of scouting Tech’s upcoming opponents.
I know that UNC’s record isn’t very good (3-7), but five of those losses were by 7 points or less. Only S. Florida and Wake have really whipped Carolina this year. Their QB Yates is completing over 60% of his passes and has 12 TD’s through the air. Big problem is that he also has 16 picks already. Yikes.
With everything that Tech has gone through this year, I really think they will play pretty well Saturday against the Tar Heels. Although nobody is happy giving up 24 points to Duke, the D really only gave up one big play. The other TD’s came as direct results of our O turning the ball over. Once again we should bottle up their ground game and our DB’s need to keep their receivers in front of them and not give up any long completions.
Don’t know anything about UNC’s D, but Mr. Choice showed against Duke that he’s not letting his injuries keep him from being really productive.
