Plenty of questions, few answers
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Hey, it’s been a few days, and the pace of matters has changed a great deal with no practice Sunday and then closed practices from here on out.
There may be some news today on the academic status of OL Cord Howard and DB Pat Clark. For quite some time, everybody operated on the idea that their situations had to be resolved by Monday, the first day of classes, but apparently circumstances have stretched the process.
We’ll certainly let you know tonight.
Any thoughts on the Tech-Georgia basketball game being played in January instead of early December?
From my vantage point, I wish they still played home-and-home as they did years ago, but there are myriad reasons that ended and won’t start again, some political, some practical.
I’ll have more tomorrow.
Matt

Playing a team that has beat you 4 of the past 6 times it has played you isn’t much of a break.

Matt,
My question is when will the Tickle Pile issue be resolved? Do you have any insight? Another question. Do you have any idea who will representative the football team in the Tech Girlyman competition? Will it be Bennett or Robertson?

Matt - I hope things work out for Cord Howard and Pat Clark. I know you focus mostly on the strictly on the field aspects of the team and only mention the academic side when a player’s status is in question.
As you span the range of topics during the season, how about doing an interest piece on some aspects of how the players (and coaches) handle the balance of academic priorities vs. strictly football stuff.
Starting back with Homer Rice’s creation of the Total Person Program concept, that, I believe, is one of the key selling points of the Tech program. You will notice that frequently when recruits are asked about choosing Tech, some mention of the strong academic reputation is given as a reason. Also, even though Tech has broadened its curriculum over the past 20 years or so, there are no “easy” majors at Tech. Even at some of the more highly regarded academic schools… dare I say…Duke…there are departments and degrees that may not be classified as intensely rigorous. I remember a comment by former UNC star (and TV color analyst) Brad Daugherty that Tech may not be the hardest school in the ACC to get into…but it is the hardest one to graduate from…this spoken from the perspective of a very successful UNC graduate who should know. Thanks for the continuous updates. Go Jackets!

4 out of the last 6 times? Where or Where are you getting the bowl of crap from GT = joke? UGA is the most overrated program in the country. ESPN and the AP kiss their butt’s every year. When you can beat KY and Vanderbilt, then maybe you can be ranked higher. Til then, SHUT UP!

Michael Vick will be playing in the movie; “The Longest Yard II”
I am glad we can root for Tech this year and ignore the Falcon’s; who have no QB since Shockley went down. He was throwing better passes than the other two slow QB’s.

UGA invented the tickle-pile. Stafford is learning well, as is Joe Cox.

Dawgstompper, I believe Georgia Tech=Joke is referring to the number of times he wishes UGAY has beaten Tech in basketball over the last 6 years.
Actually, Tech has won 3 out of the last 5. Just another dawg fan speaking about a topic they know nothing about.
Matt, I believe we have been playing the basketball game as a home-and-home the last few years.

Actually, Tech has won 3 of the last 5 vs uga and leads the basketball series 100 to 84. This is just more of the same - uga fans who like to slant the truth. Hard fact dawg fans - basketball in the state of Georgia belongs to the Jackets!

I just read the re-release of the Southern Top 100. There is a MONSTROUS ommission. How in the world is Brandon Thompson not on there???? Am I missing his name somewhere? He is one of the best 5 DT’s in the country!!! For starters…you could put him in place of tight end Ryan Wallace who is not even close to Top 100. I also find it interesting that TJ Pridemore made the AJC Super 11….but not the Super Southern 100 despite there being more than 10 kids from Georgia on the list.
