How great will Choice be?

We spent a lot of the spring focusing on what’s new with Georgia Tech football, at quarterback, at receiver, at linebacker, at defensive back. But one of the most intriguing things about the 2007 Yellow Jackets might be what Tashard Choice can achieve behind a more experienced offensive line.

Four of the starters from last season are back. So is fullback Mike Cox. And Choice is the No. 8 returning rusher in the nation, at 105.2 yards per game.

Choice had good games last season against two of the nation’s best running defenses: 107 yards on 26 carries against Miami (No. 4 in the nation against the run) and 105 on 18 carries against Virginia Tech (No. 11 against the run) and 169 on 27 carries against West Virginia (No. 13 against the run).

New to the schedule this season: Boston College, which was 26th against the run, and Army, which was 115th out of 119 teams. Off the schedule: N.C. State (85th) and Troy (53rd).

He will lead the nation in rushing, that’s how good. BANK IT!

A better passing attack should take some of the pressure off the running game. Choice could pile up a bunch of big yardage games. Passing helps the ground game Running helps the passing game

Mr. Choice is a joy to watch work. He obviously enjoys competing as the competition seems to enjoy his upbeat attitude on the field.

I heard Bond, John Bond likes to run a lot of single-back, which should help T-Choice make the best use of his running style. I think the shotgun was a poor base formation to utilize the personnel at Tech last year. I’m excited that our QB is going back under center, and we’re gonna use all 5 eligible receivers (TE/RBs). If Choice can establish the run, and Taylor can find the one-on-one downfield…it could get ugly for the other side.

Choice is a good back but only the 3rd best back in the league…Davis and Spiller at Clemson are far more talented and explosive than Choice.

Spiller and Davis may be better, but they spend too much time in “Ego-land” worrying about what nicknames they will be called. If they spent that time worrying about football instead of coming up with “Thunder & Lightning” monikers, Clemson might be National Champs. Choice has a much better work ethic and much better coaching. Result: Tech’s revenge against Clemson in Atlanta!!

Great enough to lead Georgia Tech to another Irrelevant Bowl in mid to late December. That’s how great.

Choice still led the ACC in rushing and ran all over some of the best run defenses in the nation. Whether someone thinks he is the best or the third best back in the ACC, I wouldn’t trade him for anyone else. How can you down on a guy that ran almost 1500 yards and 12 or 13 TDs? Who cares if those other dudes are “more talented”? Choice has got what it takes and that’s talent, mindset, character, and great work ethic. Those things are what make a great back!!!

With the number of carries he’ll get, and now that he’s the best player on the offense, he should lead the ACC in rushing again and be in contention for the Doak Walker trophy. I don’t know if he has the raw skills to be a high NFL draft pick, but he should have a really productive season next year in college.

If Benett has a strong year and we open the field up, he could have a huge year. The guy is a gifted back, and has a great work ethic and strong determination. I look for a big day from him right off the bat in South Bend!

Choice is going to be a top 2 rusher in the country with Mike Hart. Look at what John Bond did last year with Garrett Wolf, and Tashard is better than Wolf, our OL is better than theers, and Mike Cox is the best blocking FB in college football. As far as Spiller and Davis, he is a much better overall back than those two. As far as his pro prospects, he is mcuh better than P.J. Daniels was, and Daniels went in the third round. I think Tashard is looking at a high 2nd rounder next year, maybe even low-1st if someone wants him bad enough.

give the boy the rock, thats all i ask….he was walking through georgia last year..then—where did he go? Gailey is an idiot sometimes..but now since he has reggie ball out of his system..no more designed runs with a QB will hopefully force him to run TC more

Now that we have a quarterback who can see the field and utilize his receivers, this offense will become more dynamic and dangerous. The corner has officially been turned with the new additions, and Choice will be a dominant back.

I think he will keep up his 100 yd game average or close to it for the year and be either the top or 2nd best rusher in the ACC. I think we should use him more in the short passing game- maybe throw in some screen passes into the playbook- may help relieve stress for taylor in his first year having choice as an easy dump pass when rushers are bearing down his back. GO JACKETS! can’t wait for the opener in ND!!

Choice is a good solid college running back. He’s quick, finds seams, and makes people miss. I don’t see him having a lot of pro potential due to a lack of speed. I think he can have a really big year but I hope Evans and/or somebody else will take some of the load off him. I think Bennett holds the key to the season though. He doesn’t have to be great but he will have to be good enough to keep defenses honest. If that happens TECH should have an exceptional offense.

I don’t know….new quarterback, losing Calvin Johnson…but I think that defenses might stack about 9 in the box and try to make Bennett try to beat them with those 5’8” receivers.

let me start off b saying i love Tashard, no one was more disappointed in the Georgia and W.Virginia losses than Tashard. he is so emotional and passionate about the game, and he knows how to channel that emotion on the field. he is a vocal leader as well. i am glad he decided to come back home and finish his college career at Tech. this should be a big year for him, the O-line is experienced and with the change in this team offensive approach we should see a more wide open offense which will allow him to have a break out season, better than last year. i have a feeling there are gonna be some teams we play this year that will want to forget Tashard, be will always remember him.

Choice could get a lot of yards-1500 or so but even if he does not he will be a great bac k because he is the type of guy you go to war with. I really thin that our o is going to be really good. I know we lost Calvin but we have some good receivers and we can use the whole field. You know the d is going to be good. This could be a really interesting season.

I think that Choice will be the all-ACC tailback and probably rush for about 1500 yards. Reasons?

  1. Solid offensive line.
  2. Bond understands offense.
  3. Bennett won’t panic GT into as many “third and 20” situations as last year.
  4. The short/middle passing game will be better.
  5. Choice has character and work ethic.

Tashard Choice will have a more productive year than last year. He might not have but 1400 rushing yards, but look for 400 - 600 receiving yards and probably 18 touchdowns. He’ll also be close to 6 yards a cary. Are these bold predictions? Here’s why:

  1. Bond passes to the flats and the middle which will open up the RB for one on one catches and big receipts.

  2. Our offensive line will be better toward the end of the year with another year of expierience and “man weight.”

  3. Most importantly: Calvin hurt the run a lot! Last year, the LBs were up for those short passes to non-Calvin receivers and runs because we either threw it way long or ran/threw short. The LBs never needed to cover the middle of the field. This year, they’ll be about 2 to 3 yards further off the line when the ball is snapped. That means they’re going to be running at TC as opposed to already still waiting for TC to come to them. That gives the runner a lot more choices.

Now, the reason his yards will go down is that we won’t have him leading the nation in carries next year. We don’t need to and he’ll be a little worn from all the touches. Think Reggie Bush and Ladanian Tomlinson type of touches.

One more prediction, if Tashard Choice does exceed 500 yards and 5 touchdowns receiving, look for him to be in New York for an awards ceremony on ESPN and to get his name called on a SATURDAY in April!

I’s not quite sure how’s havin some Big Johnson hurt dems running attack, other teams be coverin dem big Johnson all over da field and givin Choice a chance to gash deir mommas. I tinks it not smarts to say some big Johnson is da reason Teshard not haves more opportunites, I tinks hims jus bein dere gives Choice more Choices from da Play Acshun and dems roll out passes. Thank gods dere no more Reggie Balls to muck tings up for you Techsters no mo. I ams a Dawg fan and I ain’t talkin no mess wid yall buts I believe big Johnson really helped Choice especially when he done gots in dem backfields. I also tink dem Clemson fans so crazy about dems backs, and yeah dem good but what you won? You Tiggers fizzle every year with some others and end up in the Carquest Bowl or the someother Bowl, I thinks, I mean I know dat Techies gonna eat you lunch wid or widout dem Big Johnson hanging out near the sidelines.

Good lucks against dem Fightin Irish, dey bunch a punk asses ( cept Darius )Dis dawgs gonna be rootin yall on dat day.

Speakin of dem damn Clemsons…dey only a damn paper Tiggers. LSU and Auburn Tigers ain’t been declawed like dem Clemson Tiggers. Even dem Mizzou Tiggers be whoopin dat a* up and down da field. I means damn who da hell be wearin some Orange and some Purple to foosball games sucker? Dis ain’t no reach around Rainbow Sticker wearing convention, dis is some Southern Foosball. So Clemsons takes yo damn Baby Bowden and yo My Lil Pony color uniforms and get da hell outta da ACC and join a conference you gots a chance in like da Sunbelt Conference or dems Colonial Conference or some s**. Damn Orange and Purple wearing fruit loops.

Choice will be as good as the passing game. I thought he would even do better last year with such attention put on CJ. The linebacker has to take up the slack in a double team formation and one good block springs you free. I don’t think Tashard is a speed back that would be great in a thin backfield but this year is a totally different story and defenses will be honest. His kind of running may payoff better with the punishing of tacklers. This new offensive coach has a running back offense which will help his sats too.

This will be an interesting year for Tech and Choice. Calvin Johnson was what the D-Coordinator’s of your opponents tried to take away last year. This year it will be Choice. What impact will that have? It will be interesting to see.

I think Tech will have another 4 loss season this year and next year. However, if Tech can land a 2nd quality recruiting class this year, then they will be dangerous and relevant in 09.

Tech better get busy if they hope to land a good class. At this point there are no 4 or 5 star committments and none that list Tech as a favorite.

He could be the best back of all time and Tech would still be 7-5.
