Terps or Deacs?

Now that Miami has eliminated Boston College from the Atlantic Division race, which would you rather see win that division and play Georgia Tech: Maryland or Wake Forest?

Maryland has been held to fewer than 100 yards rushing in each of the last four games and has scored 16 points or fewer in its last three. Receivers haven’t been doing Sam Hollenbach many favors. Tech had to rally to beat the Terps at home; what would a rematch look like?

Wake might be the more interesting matchup, with its team-of-destiny story line and the fact that it hasn’t played Tech this season. Like Tech, Wake had to hang on to beat North Carolina and had its hands full against N.C. State. Wake intercepts a lot of passes but gives up Duke-like passing yards; if you want to make the championship game a Calvin Johnson-and-Reggie Ball affair, this is the matchup for you. Tashard Choice, though, might have a tough day against the Deamon Deacons.

I would rather play Wake Forest over Maryland simply to be able to say we won the conference championship by playing more ACC teams. We’ve played and beaten Maryland already and that having been said, I would rather have played Boston College than to play Maryland again. Going in to last night’s BC/Miami game, I was hoping for a BC win just to assure us we would play a team that we had not already played. Rematches never make for a great game……………..

As long as we are there, I don’t care.

First, as always, we need to focus on the next game and not look ahead. UGAg should be on our mind, period.

However, I was most “afraid” of Boston College. They are a good team and will play well in any bowl game. We have already beaten Maryland. I really don’t care between Wake or Maryland in the championship game. But, it would really be bad for us to lose to Maryland after beating them during the ‘regular season.’ All-in-all, I am chearing for Wake on Saturday’s game against Maryland - I enjoy the turnaround that Wake has had this season.

GVH — You make a good point; defeating the greatest number of different ACC opponents would seem to enhance the integrity of a conference championship. Such a win would mean one less team some Doubting Thomas could point to and say “Yeah, but Tech would’ve lost if they’d played so-and-such.”

But, although variety is sometimes the “spice of life,” I share, to a considerable degree, Ralph’s sentiment in that I believe the primary thing is getting there and then winning.

I’d rather play Wake, just because of the talent level. Our players have said that Maryland is the toughest team that they’ve played all season

I think that Wake Forest is definetly a better match up for tech. Our defense relies on many different blitzes to confuse the qb. Maryland has a senior qb that has already faced our defense once this year. Wake Forest has a redshirt freshman that has only seen us on film. Go Jackets.

It’s spelled Demon Deacons, thank you very much, Mr. Nobler… please make a note of it for when you write your article about Wake Forest beating Tech in Jacksonville.

Mark - ACCC folks would rather see Maryland, as they have a defined fan base, 2 years ago they were in the Gator Bowl and they brought “da house” in terms of people. Wake? Do they have a fan base that can travel outside of Winston-Salem? That is what scares the ACCC folks down here in Jax. They know MD, have no idea of WF.

Tech has already sold 15-20k of non-premium seats (club), and the ACCC folks are asking the public to purchase 13k of seats before next weekend, to make it a sellout. MD could take their allotment of 10k and the 13k in a few seconds. I am all for MD!

Go Jackets!

I say go for WFU… it’s always a good fight to the finish between the Deacs & the Bees, & this year’s schedule had a great void for NOT having the 2 meet. The Deacon faithful should bring a GOOD number of fans to Jax….possibly enough to drown out the Drone… Bring on the DEACS!!

Reggie ball is the worst 4 year starting QB that I have ever seen. I’m a UGA fan, and as bad as I hate to admit it, Tech probably had a better team and should have won this game. Tech has the - defense, running game, and the best receiver in America. So why did they lose? Two words will sum it up, Reggie Ball. If tech would have had a better QB this season they might have had a banner season and possible top ten finish.

it doesnt look like it will matter, if reggie ball plays like he did against georgia, we will lose, and take it on the chin no less. hats of to choice who did his absolute best, as well as calvin, who worked hard to attempt to catch passes that ball didn’t make easy at all. i dont know if the blame falls more on ball or the off. coordinator, but the four plays that we ran over and over again were NOT suprising to uga at all! just give the ball to choice, he seemed to be the only one that could make anything happen. absolutely disgusting.
