‘No excuses’ week at Tech

This is ‘no excuses’ week at Georgia Tech. There’s no reason for the Yellow Jackets not to be able to give their best accounting of themselves on Saturday at Clemson, because: —They’ve had an extra week off between games. —They had no classes Monday and Tuesday because of a campus-wide fall break.

Calvin Johnson, Joe Anoai and Tashard Choice met with reporters this afternoon and sounded rested and ready and quietly confident. I don’t know if that will translate into a victory on Saturday; Clemson might simply be the better team. But I see nothing that should keep Tech from playing up to its potential.

Pack eight in the box and make Proctor beat us. The strategy shouldn’t be much different than the VT strategy.

We have got to keep both eyes on the tough Clemson backs.

IF the offense gets the ball to Calvin… IF Reggie does not turn the ball over… IF we do not get killed on special teams…

THEN the Jackets will be 6-1 and bring on the “Co-Canes”…..Hey Miami, how about picking a fight with someone your own size?

Cowards: Miami’s Presiedent, Larry Coker, and Commissioner Swafford…..I pose this question..They guy at VT gets a DUI, gone for the rest of the season, the guy at Miami pulls WWE move on some guys head in the middle of a field on TV, gets a 1 game suspension….Just food for thought!

you guys don’t have a prayer…..the line is 8.5. The best you might do is cover, but i doubt that. they don’t build those huge casino’s because they lose.

Yeah good thinking Trevor. It’s crazy that the Casinos are 100% right and people still bet with them.

Anyway, Clemson is good, but if the defense can stop the run I think we’ll win.

Hey Trevor, the line for the VT games was what, 10 points? The casino’s can be and sometimes are wrong. (Gee I don’t remember them picking Vandy to beat UGA!) Point is Jackets will win Saturday because this is our year to win games and climb the polls. On the Jacksonville and the ACC Championship Game! GO Jackets.

Tech fans have been calling for that kids head since the get…how would you feel if millions of people doubted evrything you did ..and even when you don’t mess up, they sit idley by and wait til you do! By Mike

October 17, 2006 05:11 PM | Link to this

First of all, no one said anything negative about Reggie. It is obvious that if Reggie makes those bone headed mistakes that he has made in the past, Tech will lose. Lets not forger the two stupid interceptions vs Va Tech a few weeks back. Sometimes he tries too hard. Secondly, you may have never heard of Vince Young until his senior year, but that clearly shows what you know about football. He left after his junior year and he was on the Heisman radar before the season begun. I like Reggie Ball, but he does not compare, at all, to Vince Young.

By rbr

October 17, 2006 05:11 PM | Link to this

Reggie has done well this year. Good for him. He deserves better treatment from the fans and media. It takes a team to lose or win a game. Blame him, you blame them all. I hope he and CJ torch Clemson for 300 yds.

Hey Clemson, you talk about your high powered offense, but can your defense hold up to one of the most talented tandems in the NCAA this year?? Na. CJ will torch you like he has torched all before him. Wake rolled up massive yards against your “defense”. GT is much bigger and more talented.

there goes herschell , Tech’s no Vandy! That Vandy tradition is hard to overcome. They did beat one ranked team on the road since 1950 and that was ya’ll! Well UGA was ranked when Vandy got of the bus last Saturday. You should worry about that Miss State game coming up. The way you guys are going you could lose to anybody.

I would not go as far as comparing Reggie to Vince Young, but he is have a good year. We can thank Pat Nix for putting Reggie in a position to succeed this season.

I really like our chances this weekend! Go Tech!!!

As a GT Fan I am concerned about this game… It is critical that we strike early and take the crowd out of it.

BTW you clemps have the dumbest cheer ever I have ever heard C-L-E-M-S-O-N; then you repeat it over and over. Come on think up something a little more creative.

At TECH we at least sing a drinking song after we score which I hope to hear over and over and over.

Has anyone else noticed that UGa “fans” like to call us nerds, but then tell us how much harder it is to get into UGA? You can’t have it both ways. Of course these are the same “fans” who say they own Florida based on wins twenty plus years ago, but fail to acknowledge that Wake Forest owns UGA because those games were too long ago. The the AJC…

Please monitor your blogs and keep the profanity and rude comments off of your site.

There are simple applications that can check for key words and symbols that will keep the trash off.

If this were an adult site, then we shouldn’t complain. However, this is the AJC’s public forum and is a reflection on your paper, Cox Enterprises as a whole, and your shareholders. Perhaps the FCC could be contacted to offer some guidance.

We appreciate a spirited debate about our respective teams, but this is not the appropriate forum for comments like those made by GREG, The Man, WhitePowerDawg, and others who profess their vulgarity.

Perhaps the AJC needs to implement a certified registration to be able to submit to your blogs…Require, and confirm, a valid telephone number and/or address.

By Glenn

October 17, 2006 09:39 PM | Link to this

there goes herschel,

With your poor grammar and punctuation, it wouldn’t be any surprise that you could be a Senior at UGA…But I doubt it seriously.

You see, even though many Tech fans give UGA fans grief about education, we know that it does take some brains to get in to UGA now that the HOPE Scholarship is giving opportunities to many students who couldn’t have afforded to attend otherwise.

That means it is more competitive to get in, and with your lack of simple English skills, I can’t imagine a University priding itself in having a bright general student population allowing someone like you in.

So, there goes herschel, if you are attempting to have a “war of words” with me, I suggest that you reconsider…It is painfully obvious you are running low on ammunition.

By the way, at least you spelled Herschel right this time. I guess it took a a real fan to correct your mistake in spelling the name of one of UGA’s greatest ambassadors…

By The Big Bug

October 17, 2006 09:39 PM | Link to this

There goes Herschel never got to high school much less college. His thinks his stadium is so BIG!!!He does not not know who his mother is much less his father. He wouldn’t know a football from his rectum.Don’t be fooled by the sidewalk alumni.

By Glenn

October 17, 2006 09:44 PM | Link to this

One more thing, there goes herschel, you keep saying “we”. Are you trying to tell the world you play football for UGA? If that is the case, that might explain your poor grammar.

Then again, anyone who has played organized sports knows not to make derrogatory comments about an upcoming opponent because it would be placed on a bulletin board and used to fire up the other side.

Therefore, it is safe to assume that you do not play for UGA. Stop trying to act like have accomplished anything resembling beating anyone at anything physical…typing on a blog doesn’t count

By Sean

October 17, 2006 10:32 PM | Link to this

Wow there are some immature people on these blogs, grow up a little bit folks, flooding the blog with the same thing over and over again is rather annoying and shows just how childish you are, and why are uga fans so arrogant? they lose and still fly their car flags-New man law if your team loses you cannot fly your car flags until the next weeks game, if you win fly them all you want but i mean come on now by flying flags after you lose basically says “i’m to drunk/lazy to take them down”

October 17, 2006 11:09 PM | Link to this

Well said Sean!!!! But I haven’t seen any flags this week, you?

I don’t know which is funnier, some redneck still living in the past 26 years ago and can’t even spell Herschel, or, UGA fans on here pulling for Clemson to beat GT because they know they won’t.

Especially after getting waxed by Vandy!

Unfortunately, the more GT wins, and the more the mutts get beat (UF, Au, GT, and maybe Ky). They will continue to get more obnoxious and vulgar. They’re the reason everyone everywhere, think UGA fans are the most obnoxious in the country. Sports Illustrate poll, 27 out of 38 years.

To the game shall we: it’s going to be a slobber knocker!!!! I think we can stop the run, Clemson strength. They lost their best receiver for the season; I think this is when it shows.

There goes herschel, I’m surprised you even know how to read. With the intelligence you showed on your past few comments, there is no way that you go to UGA. Regardless of the fact that it is extremely easy to get into, let’s hope they haven’t fallen so far as to accept ignorant morons such as yourself. Do us all a favor and learn how to read. Once this is done you can (maybe) write halfway intelligent posts. Oh by the way, I am smarter than you.

I guess I had assumed it would be at Nebraska vs. Texas.

They might beat MS & Kentucky and end up 7-4 and go to the Micron PC Bowl. For the Jackets this weekend “Lets pray” Reggie has turned the corner & doesn’t go bipolar, if he plays well & our special teams play like they did in Blacksburg we could be in a great position to run the table , win the ACC Championship & go to the Orange Bowl…IM STILL KEEPING MY PRUNERS SHARP FOR THOSE PRETTY BUSHES IN ATHENS!!!!!! Well Well!! I see I stumble across a make believe hornets nest LMAO!!!! If you think that the point that we put up against Temple was running the score up then think again.

The first string O-line was out of the game in at the end of the first quarter the 2-3-4 stringers took over after that. Now 100 points was very attainable but why throw the ball and run the score up while you can run the ball and eat the clock up. So everyone could go home early. Great coahing you ask me.

Now about Troy in which you guys almost chocked on your own nest. Needing a late game rally wow impressive. Think if you fall behind in Death Valley you are done forgetabout it. We all know that when a BEE loses it stinger it what? DIES!!! So you only have one stinger in CJ and he better watch himself foing across the middle. I would hate to see Clay lay him out while trying to make a highlight reel.
