Jackets must still keep improving

Seems like forever since Tech last played, and forever since the next game. Much as I like an off week as it allows time with my family (we’re in Chattanooga, as a matter of fact), I otherwise hate them.

For my two cents, I don’t think the Jackets can win the Coastal by continuing to do what they’ve been doing.

Wait, don’t freak!

What I mean is that championship teams keep getting better. As the season goes on, they keep doing what they do well and get better at it, abandon, things they don’t do well, and add wrinkles (without over-doing it) regularly.

Championship teams are usually better at the end off the season than the end, although sometimes a team will get off to a fast start in a poor conference, or division in the NFL, and than sag but still win the title if in a bad league.

Tech doesn’t have that luxury, I don’t think, even though Virginia Tech looked to be waving a white flag Thursday night, and I don’t think Miami is a championship-caliber team this year.

Ya don’t wanna win a championship by default, though. The best way is to keep improving because there are definitely some other teams that are (N.C. State). Speaking of teams on the other side, it’s still hard for me to believe Florida State is as lousy as the ‘Noles have looked.

Looking forward to the start of basketball, by the way. That’ll be my primary responsibility, in fact, before too much longer.

Have a great weekend. This is the best time of year.

Matt, where’s my money, b!tch? Chan says you had it! I didn’t come here for free, motherf*er! I got 20 large on the Dawgs to cover! Ain’t like none of these dot-head alum gonna show me some love. Didn’t come to play in this piece of sh*t stadium for my health. Give my people a call. And hey, we gotta with Purdue on the free pub on me for the Heisman. Peace, bro.

P.S. Reggie needs a date (a girl this time) for an Omega formal. Hook him up, will ya?

Matt. Sorry you hate your family if your not in Chattanooga. Maybe you should move there so you could love one another. Good article though. Your assessment is correct…..

Phipps,

That’s funny. The way it was worded, well, you pounced. No, the fam’s fine and wonderful. Never get used to down time in the middle of the season, though.

You are dead on the money about winning this league still being a huge challenge. And I think since the Notre Dame game, Coach Nix and the offense have definitely gotten better and expanded their schemes. With the extra time off I expect there will be some new wrinkles for Clemson. Our young secondary is another area that will need to continue to grow and improve. Lastly, kick coverage and field goal units have GOT to improve. Tech was on their way to dominating Maryland after the first drive. After the 104 yard return, Maryland had renewed confidence and we had a fight on our hands the rest of the way.

We still don’t know how good Tech is. The win over VA. Tech doesn’t look as good and the lose over ND is iffy. A win over Clemson would seal it or a loss would make you wonder who these guys are.

I want the Jackets to win, but…

Clemson is a really good team - they were sleeping against Wake, but when they woke uop they went on a @$$ kicking run that continued through 63 points on Temple with the second string.

They are going to score 35 points on us - the question is can we score 38 ???

The will not score 35 on us. Thats ridiculous! Mid 20 at best. This team last year couldn’t even score a td against us. And Temple is a statement game now? We held one of the best o in the nation to 14……remember that?

We may not know how good Tech is now, but we have a pretty good idea how good uga is. Just a note to who ever makes the schedules, keep that powerhouse Vandy off our schedule!!!

I would love to beat the kitties in the Valley as much as anyone, but if you gotta lose a game, lose this one, win the Coastal, and beat the cats on neutral turf and head to the Orange Bowl!

Tech’s formula for a good season is simple. Beat Miama, NC, and Duke and the Jackets are a minimum 8-4 going into the ACC Championship game in Jacksonville. This is very obtainable and does not rely on any help. I personally can not wait for the Miama game. I expect “Grant field / Bobby Dodd Stadium” to be even better than the ND game as everyone will realize that it is the key to Jacksonville.

For Tech to have a great season, do the above and pick up some wins against Clemson, NC State, or UGA. With NC State and UGA looking very beatable at the moment, A 10-2 regular season record is well within grasp.

Go Jackets!

PS. It appears that the choke bug has packed up his bags and moved to Athens.

Matt do you miss Jim Mora Jr? I bet you don’t? I think he is total prick and I bet that clashed with your personality. You and him seem very similar. Good work on the Jackets and don’t lose focus. I am not very worried about Clemson or Miami. Big time players make big plays in big games.

Matt:

The AJC must be bending over backwards not to offend UGA now. They actually wrote a headline that Tech is ranked 24th in the initial BCS poll while the Dogs are ranked 7th. Only problem is the poll is from December of last year. That is unbelievable to me that a so called major newspaper could make that mistake. I could understand posting the wrong poll, but to go to the trouble to create a headline that could only be meant for that particular poll as if it was the inital BCS poll this year is inexcusable for a paper of the supposed legitamacy of the AJC. How could they even make that mistake knowing UGA has 2 losses and being somewhat knowledeable about sports. I know its not your mistake and I don’t mean to complain to you, but I bet you know who is responsible and I hope you call them on it.

My girlfriend played football for Tech and he has improved considerably since we hooked up. He was a tight end, but now he is a wide reciever.

Wow, it’s amazing to see how many people here actually don’t believe in the jackets. Clemson scored 50+ points against Temple, UNC, and some other crap team, i forget. GTech has one of the best rush defenses inthe league, and if Clemson can’t run the ball (it’s their strength), then they’ll be forced to throw. Will Procter makes a lot of mistakes, he threw 3 INTs against Wake Forest. And don’t tell me that our secondary is young and inexperienced because I think they’ve proven that they can play like last year’s secondary, they may not have the takeaway numbers, but they have played very solid football.

Win or lose, I think this weekend’s game is going to be a thriller boys and girls. Sunday morning, CJ will be in everybody’s top 5 Heisman candidates. I think he’ll have 150+ yards, and more that one TD.
