Something to shout about
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Georgia Tech players say Virginia Tech’s Lane Stadium is one of the loudest stadiums in which they’ve played. That’s not my memory of it, but I had a much different vantage point, in a press box high above the end zone (not midfield, as it is in most stadiums).
The loudest stadiums I’ve been to: —Texas A&M (the press box rocked as if in an earthquake) —LSU (night games there are something special) —Clemson —Tennessee —Auburn —Florida —Florida State
This list reflects the games I’ve covered there, too. I’ve been to some stadiums that can be loud but weren’t because the game wasn’t good. What’s the loudest stadium you’ve experienced?

Lane was pretty loud, especially when VT runs into the stadium with the Metallica song playing.
LSU fans are definately loud.
Auburn was the quietest 85K when we beat them 23 - 14.
GT did I nice job for 55K when ND was in town. It was a great atmosphere and was rocking.

PSU is ridiculously loud at most games. GT (when the fans stand up) and UGA aren’t bad either.

The Yellow Jackets have made the cut for four-star safety Lorenzo Edwards. The 6-foot-2, 220-pounder announced his top five this week and Georgia Tech is in there along with Clemson, Michigan, Notre Dame and Florida. Edwards is planning to make a visit to Atlanta sometime this season…Georgia Tech is rumored to be the team to beat for four-star athlete Morgan Burnett. The College Park (Ga.) North Clayton prospect has quite a few offers from other schools including Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee and more.

That Auburn LSU game this year was rocking for a day game. Somebody accused South Carolina of piping sound in to go on top of what was already there. Still the loudest I have ever heard was Athens during the Tech game and they said that is peanuts compared to the Auburn game there. I think they lose something playing Florida on a neutral field. After watching the Saints play last night I’m convinced home cooking helps feed the troop.

Davey, I tried to send this once before, but for some reason, it didn’t post. I read about Burnett and Edwards on JacketsOnline.com earlier this afternoon…

Auburn always seems to make any place loud. We see them in Athens and usually make the trip to Auburn and it’s always the loudest game of the year. It’s worse than a concert for me, my ears will literally ring for days from the constant drone. LSU is okay in their stadium but I really think that’s more hype than anything else. Alabama is the worst. If they go down even a field goal their fans give up on them and just sit their mumbling the rest of the game.

I’ve been to Knoxville, LSU, seen Texas A&M play Houston at the Astrodome (quiet) — hands down the loudest stadium I’ve heard was, sad to say, Florida Field (GA-FL) where my ears hurt for several days afterward.
Now, for best halftime show entertainment value I haven’t found better than Texas A&M at Rice, where you have a fantastic band & choreography (A&M) with a slapped-together band included kazoos and violins that pulls off an original, funny skit every game. I understand that if you show up to Rice’s band practice you can perform. I knew a few people who bought Rice football tickets and only went to halftime.

I was at the Auburn vs. LSU game this year, and as mentioned before, it was damn loud. I remember Bobby Dodd being loud for the beginning of the FSU game in 1998. But then we got smoked. I’m sorry, but I’ve been to many games at Sanford and they arent loud for the capacity except on kickoffs. Never been to an Auburn game there though.

GAYREG - you obviously missed the UGAY blog talking about how quiet Sanford Stadium is! It was about 3 weeks ago. UGAYers started blaming architecture. Classic! If I had a desire to see 92,000 inbreds dressed in red, I would just drive through GREG’s trailer park.

I look all the AJC blogs and it seems that Greg is scared to post anything on the UGA blogs. It is also funny that he never posts anything football related, just rants at GT fans…What a punk!
On a lighter note, what does everyone think about GT’s chances this weekend. I am still struggling after the blowout last year. GT needs to hang tough early (no special teams blunders) and it’s chances are pretty good.
VT will be on CJ like white on rice. The “other” guys need to step up and make some receptions, and for that matter Reggie needs to look their way more.

Average Joe, GT90, Red Fox, et al;
IGNORE GREG TOTALLY…
He feeds off of attention and it will never matter what you say…he isn’t bright enough to know you are insulting him and/or he doesn’t care. If everyone ignores him, perhaps he will crawl back to the UGA posts.

Hey Glenn, I don’t want GREG to leave. I really enjoy reading his insightful comments. His words are so strong and they also make me think that maybe the world isn’t flat. Besides, how else would I keep up with the current series records on a daily basis. GREG is a great person for UGA football because he is what every UGA fan inspires to be.

Reggie Ball was screwed up more than usual last year during this game. Why do we get the bus ride to their place two years in a row, not Duke or Virgina, but VA.Tech. You watch the Falcons play the first game back in NO this week and now two in a row home games for Va.Tech. against the Jackets. Reminds me of Bobby Dodd who wouldn’t play Clemson anywhere but Atlanta. There was an advantage then and there is an advantage now.
