Meat of schedule is here

Four home games, three victories. That’s where I expected Georgia Tech to be at this stage of the season.

Now, the Yellow Jackets hit the middle four games, their toughest stretch of the schedule, including trips to Virginia Tech and Clemson and a home game against Miami. (There’s a home game against Maryland thrown in there, too.) Before the season, I would have said Georgia Tech would do well to win two of those four. Now that I’ve seen the Yellow Jackets in person and the Tigers and Hurricanes on TV, I’d say 2-2 is still possible, maybe even probable.

I think 3-1 is as likely as 1-3. 4-0? I don’t see that, but I also didn’t see last season’s Miami game coming.

Have you re-evaluated, or are things going the way you expected?

Things look good right now; I’ll be more thrilled about the national ranking on saturday night, after GT leaves Hokieville with a W. I’m feeling at least 3-1 for the next 4 games. Go Jackets!

Can any of you jackholes figure out how to post once and only once. Patience is a virtue, guys.

On to the main point, the battle of the Techs should be quite interesting. Know I’ll be tuned in. Also wonder if last year’s Miami success can be duplicated….

I think 2-2 is definitely probable. I’m thinking even 3-1 is too. It really depends which team shows up this weekend. Hopefully, it’s the team that beat Miami last year and not the one who lost to NC State. Go Jackets! We definitely have a shot to knock out the Hokies!

If Tech can beat VT I think the other games can be a sweep. VT has not yet been tested, unless you count trailing at the half to Cincinnati? Their QB has not played well in his first season as the starter. GT eats up inexperienced QB’s with their blitz schemes. And this kid doesn’t have Vick speed to bail him out. Plus VT has lost quite a few great DB players the last few seasons. I see CJ having a big game. Special teams could be a huge factor. Beamer ball is an issue. GT needs to play a perfect game on ST to win the game.

I must say that I am pleasantly shocked at the offensive play calling lately. Nix seems to be willing to try things during the games as opposes to Chan that is too conservative.

I hated when Chan made Nix go conservative on UVA even though we had a lead.

The crowd should start a chant: Leave Nix alone!

Not that it’s much more to brag about, but didn’t Tech beat Georgia in 84, 85, 89, 90, 98, 99, and 2000? That looks like at least seven wins to me.

Details, Greg, pay attention to details. The lack of such practice is probably why UGA grads mow lawns and dig ditches and are happy to do so.
