DeAngelo Hall needed to go

Terence Moore

He has to go, and it’s a shame. It really is, because DeAngelo Hall has so many positive attributes.

First, he can play. He is at least a good cornerback, and it’s difficult in the modern NFL to find even decent ones. Yes, he had several meltdowns against the big boys at wide receiver. Most notably, there was that time when a one-shoed Hines Ward outran the supposedly fastest man in the league (you know, Hall) to the end zone.

But Hall can play. And maybe you’ve heard: He also can talk.

As a result, Hall’s often flapping tongue hides the fact that he is a harder worker than you think on and off the field. He loves football so much that he is a rarity among veterans. He attends everything from Senior Bowl practices to lowly events at the scouting combines each year. And, despite that flapping tongue, he isn’t a problem in the locker room, where he gives playful jabs and gets them back.

He has to go, though, for a couple of reasons. For one, the Falcons need all the draft picks they can get to help a heavily flawed roster. They’ll receive a couple of nice picks from the Oakland Raiders in this trade for Hall, and that will give the Falcons 11 picks, including four in the top 48.

Still, here’s the biggest reason why Hall has to go: Courtesy of a contract squabble and the Falcons’ losing ways, he doesn’t want to be here.

Too bad this has to happen. Give up a proven corner only to have to draft a corner. Though we pick up two draft picks, the reality is, we pick up one because one will need to be used to draft a replacement unless you truly believe what we have on roster is adequate. New management same decision making capabilities. Instead of extending his contract, we rather let him go. Looking at our record for letting go good talent, it doesnt look good. Deion Sanders, Tony Casillas, Scott Case, Brett Farve, Gerald Riggs to name the ones that immediately comes to mind all have rings to show for the falcon decision makers decisions. Well, I still support our falcons, I just hate to see this type of decision making. They even took less than the mans worth. A second and a sixth………….Wow

Mr. Moore you are correct! I haven’t agreed with most of your blogs but this one hits the nail on the head! However, I think HALL is worth a first round pick. The Falcons didn’t get the better end of this deal. I agree Hall time was up here but he is worth more. He was the best player on the TEAM! His Mouth aside you’ll see the difference next year. Most QB s respected that side of the field. Any naysayers are just plain haters. REMEMBER we gave a first rounder for Abraham.

What we got is just two picks behind the first round, with a spare in the sixth. The trade didn’t come out too bad, considering Hall ruined his own value by inviting low bids at the combine.

I just hope the Raiders dont back out of it. I am surprised he is even tradable at this point.

Hall wearing the Vick number before the game last year should have signaled his end of time with the Falcons.

Talk about no respect for Blank, and the coachs. Then in a game the Falcons are losing, he intercepts a pass and holds up his arms in a victory dance, runs and gives the ball to his mother in the stands.

Driving Coach Mora in his Maserati instead of them taking the team bus was a joke too. Then he goes on MTV cribs and talks about all his jewelry and cars with his bragging ars.

Reporter asks Hall - You know team doesnt have a I in it. Hall says, yeh but it has a m and e.

Over the years he has lost coverage on many of the wide receivers he has tried to cover. In Oakland he will not be asked to cover the #1 receivers so he may do a respectable job there.

You can say he is a jokster in the lockerooom but we all know he is a cancer that needs to be cut and the sooner the better.

whatever the Falcons can get from a 2nd and 6 round pick is better than having Hall around.

ATLplayer,

First off, I want to make it clear that I hate the game, not the player. Secondly, I understand what you’re saying about getting a one pick for Hall, but I’ll tell you what, if I had to choose between getting two picks and one pick. I’d go with two. First off, the talent dropoff between one and two isn’t that profound, and then there’s the fact that every once in a while you find a project in the sixt round that’s worth developing into an NFL player. Aside from that, the Falcons just need bodies at this point… I think it was a good trade.

ATLplayer, So I am a hater because the guy did nothing last year except talk and get beat. You think he is worth 10 mill.LOL Falcons got the better deal, save tons of money, 2nd round pick is paid far less than first round. We now have money for 3 second rounders. Smart move all the way around.

Hey Regal_1Got1 all the guys you mention were let go under another ownership group and coaching staffs. They have nothing to do with the regime now. Give these guys a chance. My guess is this is the best offer they got for him. Other than his first game at Phillidelphia in which he played great, all I ever saw out of him was above average play.

It’s the right thing to do. Hall is a very good, not great, player, but his temper, and sometimes downright childish, behavior make him a liability. As the Falcons go through this “extreme makeover” look for them to move character nearer the top of the criteria. They will look for mature, team-players who display good character. Yes, our Falcons management has let some good players get away in the past, but let’s be realistic. Football is a game to you and me, good entertainment, but it’s a business to those who make their living from it. Mr. Blank has hopefully learned his lesson about giving huge contracts to one player at the expense of the rest of the team. It takes a team of good players working and sacrificing together to win championships. You can’t do it with a handful of overpaid “superstars” with all their baggage.

To some it may seem that a second and sixth round choice are low compensation, but don’t forget the three million dollars. They can get a quality player in the second round and add depth in the sixth with that money. This season may be another struggle, but the future looks bright to me.

Hall may have been on this team but he was never part of this team and that is the problem. I was watching videos of numerous of his INT’s over the years and it is suprising how many were due to him being out of position or balls that were tipped by the receiver he was supposed to be covering. Didn’t see too many where he jumped the route due to a good read. Has his plane took off yet?? If not I have a pen he can have to sign that new contract with.

Yes the Falcons need bodies but now they need more bodies to fill CB. And yes you are a hater if you can’t recognize HALL as a top 5 CB. He now has 70 mil to prove it. Yes he has a loud mouth and yes he has to go now! My point is he is worth a first rounder! Let’s talk about how much of a loser you are Terence. Is anyone reading your column surprised you are putting a “I’m sorry to see him go” spin on the most selfish player in the league leaving town? But of course you will only say that he is a good player and doesn’t cause problems in the locker room. SHOCKER!!!

Here are the facts of why “he had” to go and of course you are the sports guy and I am just a fan but I’m sure I must be way off with sayin these…

A. One year left and Atl is not going to spend the money on him when he runs his mouth next season wanting the most lucrative contract he could get. B.Obviously don’t NEED him if we bolster our pass rush and that money can be spent elsewhere.
C. Name 1 of the starting CB’s for the Giants in the SB. You can’t. And don’t need to to because their pass rush was top notch. D. From what Dimitroff has been a part of for the past 7 years in N.E. what makes you think he would resign a prima donna like hall to take up all that cap space? Name one guy on N.E. they have done that with. You can’t.

Get a clue dude, just because you are on ESPN (which has turned into a tabloid) doesn’t mean you know jack ish about sports. Jive factor homeboy, that’s all you are and ever will be.

WHat is surprising about DHall, is that if you ever met him in person he is a classy guy. I met him in Tampa 2 years ago after the game and he was Very personable. He signed autographs when the majority of players wouldn’t. He was VERY outgoing and friendly and I was quite impressed with the difference from what he shows on the field. I think that he is probably a pretty good guy who lets his emotions get the best of him on the field. I also hated to see him hitch is emotions so closely to Vick, knowing what Vick did to the franchise. But, you can’t keep a guy who does not want to be here. Good luck D’Hall, and good luck Atlanta!

I hate to see him go, but his new contract is reportly a 7yrs/$70 million dollar deal. He is not worth that type of cash. If that is the going rate for an above average corner, than the Falcons did the right thing. Also, do you need a top 5 CB to win a super blow?

First of all, it was obvious that whoever got Hall was gonna want a longer contract than the one year. That being a given makes me feel like we were just grabbing for whatever we could get. Hall F’ed us again be letting it be known that he was going to cause problems for us which tells interested teams that it is time to get a pro-bowler for a seal.

Thanks again Hall!

The Falcons are definitely making the right move here. If Hall cares so much about winning, one would think that he would want to go to a good team. The Raiders obviously aren’t a good team, so this isn’t about winning; this is about getting paid. If the Raiders are really dumb enough to give Hall a contract where most of that $70 million over 7 years is real, attainable money, Al Davis truly is the senile Crypt Keeper of the NFL.

D. Hall was overrated and overrespected from day one. He is a true athlete and a good one, however ALL his interceptions come from tipped and overthrown passes. The only reason QB’s “respect” his side of the field is because there was always an obvious mismatch on the other side (J.Webster, L. Sanders, C. Houston)and the Falcons are always in Cover 2 anyway.

At first I didnt want to see D.Hall go but after further consideration it is what’s best for the squad.

Now, if only we could trade Brooking! He has to be somebody’s nephew or something. Its amazing how he manages to keep his job year after year. He is the weakest link on D, yet he maintains his spot on the depth chart each year. Amazing…

I’d say if we in fact get a second round and a sixth round pick then we got more than a fair trade.I mean the Pats only gave up what a 4th round pick for Randy Moss and I think Philly gave up a 3rd or 4th for T.O.?? Getting a 2nd for D Hall is as about as good as a fan could hope for.Plus if he doesn’t want to be a Falcon then no reason to cry over spilled milk.I wish him the best and good luck making any pro bowls in the AFC. Lets hope the birds make good use of these picks and I’m for one hoping we trade down and pick up a few more picks!!

I love what the birds are doing, even though we shipped out talented players (Crumpler and Dunn) We truly needed to blow this ship up. Remember, all the guys being shipped out didn’t step up when Vick went down, and let us not forget the 2nd half meltdowns of 05 and 06! We have to clean house completely! I’m so excited about the upcoming season, yes, we will suck, but I think we’ll will rebuild a stronger, hungrier team. That said, we should draft C.Long in the 1st, then take Henne or Brohm in the 2nd. PS- F-MeAngelo Hall!

Top 5 corner? Huh? How many corners were in the pro bowl this year? I don’t think there were less than 6. Anyway, my point is it is a good deal for the Falcs. Hall can play but he did not make any plays, that’s the point. You pay a man 10 mill, he damn sure better make a difference. He was and is not a difference maker. I guarantee Irons can hang with any receiver as well as Hall.

I’ve seen the Raiders blog. Unfortunately all the white Falcons fans are intolerant racists a-holes just like all the black Falcons fans are intolerant racist a-holes. It IS ludicrous to see some of you people blame every black athlete for the criminal activity of MV7 and the whinny childishness of Hall. It is also stupid for the Vick supporters to get illogically emotional over Vick returning to lead this team. That is as unlikely an event as the Confederacy winning the Civil War, and just as much waste of positive energy that could be so much more useful if applied elsewhere.

Vick in ‘09, you should keep your mouth shut, you bonehead. Anyone with that name on this site should be shot. And you need to get off Brooking’s back. The guy actually wants to be here! He is a pure bred Georgia boy who has always played ball in this state from high school up. His play has lacked b/c he has unselfishly been forced to play in a position that is not his specialty. But has he said anything? Nope. (unlike d-mouth) Go Falcons.

One pereson pointed it out: D-Hall made it clear that he was either going to cause problems, sit out (until game 10) or BOTH!!! Therefore (along iwth him saying that he DID NOT WANT TO PLAY HERE ANYMORE) - anybody could see that the Falcons had their hands tied. Interested teams knew that Diitroff HAD to move him and so there really was no way to get a 1st for him. I think the HIGH 2nd and the 6th are pretty fair, especially when you combine that with the fact that they have to pick up his salary and a fairly ridiculous (average) $10M/yr over the next several years.
I beleive that Smith realized a key factor in football, which is: If you can put pressure on the passer, then you can have damn near anybody who is decent at the corner position(s). If the opponent’s QB is rushing throws, throwing off balaance or constantly having to dumbit off or throw underneath due to pressure or no having time, then your defense will be very successful without having great CBs. HELL!!! Look at the Falcon’s offense! They faced that issue (protection not there, rushing throws and having to get rid of the ball as quickly as possible due to a HORRIBLE LINE) and you see how they fared aginst some very average corners - let alone very average defenses (3 and out, 33 and out 3 and out)!! I believe that the Falcons will use the #3 pick on Dorsey, Anderson will be better this year specifically due to him, Abraham will do well and the other DT spot, hopefully, will at least be effective due to it being manned by 2 or 3 people so as to have a “fresh set of legs” on the field more often than not - a well rested mediocre player(s) can be just as good as a slightly above average tired one, especially in the 4th quarter when the Falcons lost a LOT of games last year! DeAngelo will have success in Oakland due to Asamunga being on the other side and some decent linebackers; but if they cannot create a pass rush, he will stuggle trying to cover some of the elite receivers in the AFC - WATCH. I will be the first to say that D Hall is a great athlete, but I will also be the first to say that (b/c the Raiders choose 4th in this year’s draft) he is NOT anywhere near worth a 4th overall pick and another draft choice AT ALL!!! He wanted to get PAID (and that is fine), he got what he wanted and now he will have to live with the edia scrutiny that will come with going about it in an unprofessional manner. Had he gone about it more like some of these other more professional atheletes, people would not be making such a fuss, but….. there is a reason that he no longer hold much value for the Falcons; it is due to the belief that the pass rush makes the defense and not the pass defenders! Trust me - D Hall will see a LOT of action next year in Oakland on his side of the Defense and he is going to look pretty silly a lot of the time due to all of the activity AND due to having to compensate for people already KNOWING not to go at Asamunga. Teams are gonna test HIM first and “WELCOME HIM TO THE AFC”!! It will be interesting to see how he reacts to it and handles the pressure of performance. Anybody agree/disagree????

It doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks is too much or too little in return for Hall. Bottom line is it was well known that he was available and the best offer was for a 2nd and a 6th from the worst managed team in the NFL. No other GM was willing to offer more. WOW!!

I look at these comments about D-Hall and it amazes me.

Here is the truth, Hall is a good not great player, he does make plays but gambles way too much and gets burned. No matter how good you are, if you dont have a pass rush or a good front four, your gonna get beat. Doesn’t matter who you are. The Giants beat New England because their front 4 is dominant, not because there corners are great. If your gonna trash talk learn more about the game.

Now everyone pining over a 1st round pick given up for Abraham, big difference. The value between #4 pick and #15 is huge, Could the Falcons afford to sign two top 5 picks and fill all the holes they still have left, I don’t think so.

Usually the 1st 10-15 picks of the 2nd round are starting caliber ball players, so for them to get a 2nd and a 6th is very smart and to top it off D-Hall is one of the most selfish players I have ever seen. Get better up front and they won’t miss him.

Atlanta Falcons cornerback DeAngelo Hall says he will finalize a contract with Oakland by Thursday morning, allowing the trade sending him to the Raiders to be completed.

Clayton: Silver & Gold

Frustrated by his team’s lack of success, Raiders owner Al Davis has spent a lot of money this offseason. And he’s not done yet, writes John Clayton. Story

A source told ESPN’s Chris Mortensen that the deal is for seven years and worth $70 million. The amount of guaranteed money and bonuses in the contract have not been finalized.

The source also told Mortensen the teams are discussing possibly more compensation than just a second-round pick for the Raiders to acquire Hall, a two-time All-Pro.

If the deal goes through as planned, the Falcons will have three second-round draft picks and four of the first 48 selections under first-year general manager Thomas Dimitroff.

Hall said he is scheduled to fly to Oakland on Wednesday to meet with Raiders officials, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

“There is just some tweaking of the language that needs to be done, some minor details,” Hall told the newspaper. “No deal breakers.”

Hall, a former first-rounder taken with the eighth pick in the 2004 draft, would be paired with Nnamdi Asomugha, giving Oakland one of the top cornerback tandems in the game.

The move would also provide insurance if Asomugha were to leave as a free agent following next season. The Raiders placed the exclusive franchise tag on Asomugha, guaranteeing him at least $9.465 million in 2008. They still would like to sign him to a long-term deal.

If the deal goes through, the Raiders would have only one draft pick in the first three rounds. Oakland picks fourth in the opening round and traded its third-round pick last year to New England for a pick used to draft offensive lineman Mario Henderson.

The Raiders have been very active during the free-agency season after winning just four games last season and a league-low 19 the previous five years. Oakland has signed defensive tackles Tommy Kelly and William Joseph, receivers Javon Walker and Drew Carter, safety Gibril Wilson, offensive linemen Kwame Harris and Cornell Green to deals that could be worth more than $160 million.

The Raiders also re-signed running back Justin Fargas to a $12 million, three-year contract that guarantees him $6 million.

ESPN NFL reporter Chris Mortensen and The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Hall did not only say he didn’t want to play for a losing team. That’s a big joke considering where he is going. As someone said on First Take on TV a few minutes ago. Raiders has only won 19 games in 5 years. We are lucky that Al Davis has lost the rest of his mind and took the cancer.

The Long Goodbye. He’s still here? Well Deion Sanders gave DeA the script to get out of Atlanta, and he finally got it right. His personality will be just fine in Oakland.

even if not for his mouth does anyone really think he’d be worth 8-10 mill a year here, and getting burned, we were losing with him now rebuild without the b.s. btw the raiders also were 4-12 so he will go through another losing season but alot richer. use the money for the o-line and draft big dorsey for the d, a qb can wait till the later rounds. we’ll see how good the gm can really draft, the future may be alot brighter, hopefully,

No I’m not a Hall hater, but when you play 15 ft. off your man and then get beat something is wrong. Why should we pay someone to run their mouth and be able to back up the talk. If he was Chad Johnson running his mouth than I might have some faith in what he said.

One less gangsta thug. Now we can draft not only a football player, but also a team mate. Is Art going to let his GM build a “team”? Now, just maybe, we can collect some money from thug #7, and be rid of all the me me me’s, and at least have pride in what the Falcons are trying to do. With a little pride, thev wins will come. P.S. I’ll be more than happy to pay Me-angelo’s plane fare

Trading Hall is great decision. He had a few really good games but always got beat by the good receivers. He is not a team player and doesn’t belong here. You would also think he was smart enough to help us hold a lead in a game, but last year showed us he had crap for brains. NO SELF CONTROL IS DESTRUCTFUL TO A TEAM.

Just when I thought you were about to make a point, you bailed out with a nonsense “he doesn’t want to be here” excuse and wiggled off the hook again. Terrance, you simply can not and will not state the truth, Hall is a cancer to this franchise and despite his obvious ability, his intelligence stops him from delivering the knock out punch. Like DHall, your bullet is also too big for your barrel. oh, and add your pal Mr Vick into that same “protected” grouplet.

First, D-Hall took about 18 Million from the Falcons and Arthur Blank. He should be happy with that.

Second, D-Hall did NOT WANT TO BE HERE! What part of that do the PEOPLE who say “Oh, they should have re-signed him to a new contract” DO NOT GET!!! Damn, some of you live in a DREAM WORLD

Third, julia stop living in the past! Who cares about the 2004 NFC Game and the people who were on that team! This is going to be the 2008 ATLANTA Falcons. Time to focus on the future, and give Dimitroff, Coach Smith and the everyone else a chance to do it their OWN way!

What did Bill Parcells say? They want me to make dinner but they don’t let you shop for the groceries?

Right now the Falcons are shopping for the groceries, and MeAngelo is Expired MILK! What do you do with that…you throw it out and you make the best of it.

Last year all the Raiders got for Randy Moss was a 3rd round pick.

This year the Falcons get a high Second Round pick and a 6th Round pick (where you can find good players if you know what the hell you’re doing) which is as good as a deal considering D-Hall is only signed for one more year and no team would have given the falcons more.

People want to compare it to the Lito Sheppard situation but he’s locked down for 3 more years at a reasonable salary. D-Hall isn’t.

It’s great to read the objective blogs from everyone. It seems aparent that people who wanted D. Hall to stay here have not paid much attention to how much D. Hall has made it known to the media, not the city of Atlanta, that he wanted out of here. As much as I wanted him to stay here, I couldnot keep myself in a fantasy world. Those of you that has said they are relenquishing their season tickets, good ridence to you. As much as this team has been through, the writing should have been on the wall that the Falcons would be in this situation. D. Hall, I hope the best for you,(although I do not think things will be as good as you think in Oak-town) I always thought this team made a good decision to draft you. D. Hall, you may have been traded to a better situation had you kept your trap shout and worked things out professionally. You said you did not wanted to lose or be on a losing team. Quess what? D. Great Post-Up! SUPES

I couldn’t have said it any better! Spoiled-Milk is the perfect analogy for DeAngelo. His willingness to go to the Raiders? Is proof positive that it’s all about the money with this guy. He was on the 2-Live-Stews yesterday for 2-3 segments and said as much - verbatam.

When he experiences life outside of Flowery Branch? Steaks and Lobster served by Arthur himself at TC’s.

First class ORG from the front door all the way to the back door? Then he will be up for a RUDE-AWAKENING!

It’s easy to get along with anybody when your’e winning or have a chance to win every sunday. True character is revealed when things aren’t going well, when your’e losing? That is the true test of a MAN!

We all saw D-Hall melt down like the wicked Witch of the West when someone poured water on him - Literally! Good Writtens D-Hall you will be missed. Addition by Subtraction is how I see it.

He will never win in Oakland (That’s Not What They Do!)

Alex right on with your post!

Najeh They got the 4th pick in the second round. All the experts are telling you, the talent between picking there, and let’s say with the Giants 1st round pick at 31 is about the same. No team out there was willing to give a 1st round pick for D-Hall b/c he was only signed for one more year. After that he can walk. Why would a team give up a number 1 pick for a one year rent a player potentially? So you see, The Falcons got the best they could get in that situation. Be glad they suckered the Raiders to take MeAngelo as it is.

I like T-D a lot. In New England, they don’t fall in love with their players. They don’t respond to pay demands. They could care less how great you think you are? - If you don’t fit the system? Then it’s best you check your mail at the door - Gee.

The SYSTEM is a constant. The PLAYER is the constant VARIABLE!

You can plug a knuckle head into a SYSTEM - And the machine will just keep on working. One Loose-Nut can easily be replaced with another Loose Nut. It’s just that simple. Technique can be taught, Players can be coached up to play above their heads!

That’s what great coaches do!

The 49-ers had a SYSTEM. I don’t know what happened to it? Did someone die or go to jail? In the 80”s they were a A BIG GOLD MACHINE

I see that Coming to the A Finally after 30-something years.

Arthur understands this! He’s figuring it out! And he is sensitive about his S H _ T! ;O

Unbiased blogger, I hope you were kidding about the Kearney comment. A rape was committed in his house, that is true. He was asleep at the time. And what happened when he woke up? He didn’t try to distance himself or protect his so-called buddy. He got right up, called the police, drove the poor woman to the hospital, paid for her care, and helped the police identify the criminal and apprehend him. Kearney showed that ‘right and wrong’ was more important to him than sticking by his “homey.” Kearney was also thanked by the rape victim for his heroic efforts. This is not conjecture, oh no! Every bit of this is public record. So let’s put this CRAP to rest about why a criminal like Vick went to jail, and a Hero like Kearney didn’t. Here’s your answer-Vick was a criminal, Kearney was a Hero! Why does that not make since even to the stupidest of people? Oh, and before any racist idiots (black or white) chime in, I would be praising Vick and trashing Kearney right now had their particular roles been reversed!

Football Only- I’m liking what the Falcons are doing. I don’t necessarily agree with the D.Hall decision but I understand and like it. My only concern is that with the D-Line and LB’s as is right now we have to have top flight corners. Without a good pass rush and run support corners are gonna get toasted in this defense. Regardless of what you may think D.Hall is a legitimate top-3 CB in this league (especially NFC). With that being said we can only hope Smith/Dimitroff/Blank go out and start building this team back up in the draft. We have enough high picks to draft quality STARTERS that will be around for a while.

My thoughts are to address the OL/DL with the 3rd pick. We can get a good QB in the 2nd rd and draft for depth at OL/DL,S,CB in the following rounds. I would also inquire about Brooking and what he’s worth on the Market. he’s obviously lost a step and needs to go. I we can get something for him then I’m all for it. This is a business flat out. We got burned by not getting anything for some quality players we lost. We at least got a 2nd for D.Hall. Keep moving this thing in the right direction.

AJC I am appalled that you would allow this type of discourse on a public forum. Anyone from outside of Atlanta reading this would defintely think we are all a bunch of Racists because of a few clowns who have nothing better to do. Clean this up please.

Casual Observer, I’m also concerned about the defense. With Brooking still manning the middle & no real beef on the D-line, we’re going to have to stack the box to stop the run. That’s going to leave the corners on islands &, sans D. Hall, it doesn’t look like it’s going to be pretty. We’ve GOT to get Brooking out of the middle. I say trade him for a corner or O-lineman, then draft a MLB. Of course the O-line is still DESPERATELY in need of attention, but I’m just as worried about the middle of the defense.

Well, I had to see what had been said since about 5. Wish I hadn’t but football wise I think this was a great trade. You are losing Hall’s salary, getting another number 2, you just picked up a 4 yr corner who looking at the Texans blogs seemed to be a decent player. I will say it again, watch for David Irons. He can play. As an Auburn fan I watched him for close to every game. He has some physicality which you would not know for a smaller guy. I agree with most on Brooking. He is not a middle linebacker but I believe the brass knows that too. Maybe a trade of picks for a middle backer. 5 years straight the last place team in the Southeast has been #1 the next year. I like what we have done so far.

Realist- I’m not getting into the Brooking bashing but I do think that position needs an upgrade. The middle of the defense is sorely lackinh. Until that gets addressed we will be in for a long season. I would really like to see the OL/DL get the shine in the draft. That can only help moving forward. Skill players come and go but the trenches make the difference.

Rick- Good point about Irons. He did surprise me with his physicality at Auburn. I’m hoping a yr under his belt and understanding the nuances of the position will turn him into a solid CB.

Hey casual observer, or retard, how do you “allow” something on a PUBLIC forum? It’s public, you moron! “I’m appalled”-PLEASE! Then DON’T READ IT! Should everybody suffer just because you’re a lightweight? Just to be clear, so if you don’t like something, we should BAN it? Do everyone a favor and get a life.

Terence

How about the fact that he is a deliberate club house distraction. Why do you right a column about how hard the guys works at being good and say that makes him a good guy? If I was the Falcons owner I would have suspended him from the team when he brought out that Vick poster. Then sat his butt on the bench till he shut his mouth or keep fining him till I had my contract money back. He is typical of the overpaid, fat-cat, me-first players. Good Riddance.

I hope we light him up when we play the Raiders.

He doesn’t want to be here. Case closed. He doesn’t want to be here. Case closed. He doesn’t want to be here. Case closed. Thank You Terence Moore at least he understands this fact. My question is why a small segment of our fan base does not? I guess they want us to hold a gun to his head and say sign the contract you are staying.

(please note the sarcasm in the following)

I dont know why the white man must hate

On a cornerback that was so great.

when D. Hall tried to tackle it resembled a hug.

Oakland can be proud, they got themselves a thug.

Now that we got D. Hall out of here.

maybe Oakland can sign Vick, when released from prison next year.

Bottom line is this, every black superstar in this city is condemned and ran outta town. Im an ATL brotha born and raised and it p** me off that white folks in this state is racist to the point that they rather see us lose with a white face than win with a black face. Atlanta is known as BLACK HOLLYWOOD with all the music and SPORTS celebrities LIVING here but yet the little secret is that they RATHER LIVE HERE THAN PLAY HERE because they know about all the racist bashing that comes for playing in this city and state. I own a famous rim shop in Atlanta and the black athletes who come purchase my rims tells me all the things that i am stating now, all was changing when Vick was hear, other black athletes was having hope of playing hear because of Vick because he had such a hold on the black community but on the other hand they saw how Vick the CITY AND STATES BIGGEST STAR EVER was treated and they was saying WHY SHOULD I GO THROUGH THAT. White folks in Georgia ran Dominique Wilkins, Deion Sanders, Andrew Jones, Algae Crumpler, David Justice, Deangelo Hall, and lastly and the Biggest star MICHAEL VICK outta town, so as long as this bigitry keeps going on we will never have another black star to carry this city so I hope the falcons draft Darren McFadden but I also know if they do they are going to do to him that they have done to every other black superstar in the city of Atlanta RUN HIM OUTTA TOWN! HOLLA VICK KEEP YA HEAD UP. HOPE THE FALCONS ONE BLACK SUPERSTAR BACK HERE TO CARRY US.

ATL fans need to get real. No coach in the NFL wants to see Nnamdi and D.Hall on the same team. So, Pick your poison. I wouldn’t be surprised if Hall has 2 INT’s against ATL in the game next season. Hall will have success in Oakland because he will now be covering other teams #2 reiceivers instead of #1’s like he was in ATL. AFC West is praying to god that this trade doesn’t go through. This will automatically give the us the best defensive backs in the whole NFL. Not to mention Huff and Wilson are one of the better safty duo’s in the league.

Who ever said they were giving up their season tickets because Hall is leaving must have lost their job for if they ever watched him play. I’m sure that’s not the reason they gave up their tickets. Sorry but I couldn’t be happier thats he gone. I’m so tired of seeing all the good receivers beat him I could just scream.

Brent, D Hall can’t cover the #4 receiver for your information. He was getting paid to cover the #1 receiver. Why was he not capable of doing his job? Please explain.

Keith Brooking may be past his prime, but he still had the 2nd most solo tackles on the team last year, while playing MLB when he’s supposed to be an OLB. Too bad we can’t throw Vick in on that D.Hall trade.

Now, the Falcons need to get rid of Boley and Abraham. Then they won’t have any real football players. I think that will make some “so called” Falcon fans really happy.

All I can say if you are Black and friends with Mike Vick and currently on the roster you better watch your back. Looking at what has happen in the last month you better keep your options open because your days here are numbered. Trade DeAngelo and keep Keith Brookings…..Sad day…Good Luck Deangelo maybe you will be like Deion Sanders, Scott Case, Gerald Riggs, Brett Favre leave here and get a ring.

If we ever want the racist to come out all we have to do is say something about a black athelete in this city whether or not its good or bad.
