Dishonest club wrong team to make history
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Phoenix — As a JFK assassination buff, I never was an Arlen Specter fan. He concocted the “magic bullet” theory, which claimed that one rifle shot inflicted seven wounds on a president and a governor and emerged unscathed after zigging when it wasn’t zagging in midair.
Yeah, that made sense.
Now Specter is a U.S. senator instead of a member of the Warren Commission, and I like him. That’s because he finally has gotten it right after all these decades when it comes to conspiracies. It’s the revolting one surrounding the NFL and the New England Patriots. Courtesy of commissioner Roger Goodell using his version of the “magic bullet” theory to describe this ongoing Spygate mess, the Patriots are a Super Bowl victory away today at University of Phoenix Stadium from continuing as the biggest frauds in league history.
So where to start? I mean, you have nose guard Vince Wilfork’s $37,500 worth of fines this season to lead a group of cheap-shot artists on what supposedly is a disciplined team. You have the disingenuous claims of guys who say they are above responding to this and that before they tell on themselves. (For instance: They’ve whined all week about the Giants arriving for Super Bowl Week in black. “Yes, you are supposed to wear black to a funeral,” said the Patriots Randy Moss. “We’ll see who has black on after the game.”) You have those lies about Tom Brady’s supposedly bum shoulder, but despite the Patriots listing it for more than three years on the NFL’s injury list, Brady has started 126 consecutive games, the third-longest streak in NFL history.
Let’s return to Specter, though, who wants Goodell to come before the Senate Judiciary Committee to explain why in the name of Richard Nixon the commissioner destroyed all of those tapes and notes after the Patriots were nailed earlier this season to initiate Spygate. More specifically, the Patriots were caught in their opener in the Meadowlands using video equipment to steal signs and whatever else from the Jets.
Logic would say that the Patriots and their CIA wannabe coach, Bill Belichick, had done those things and whatever else many times before. Logic would say that since Goodell’s stated mission in life is to “protect the shield,” he was obsessed with covering up the Patriots’ numerous bad deeds. After all, not only are the Patriots seeking to join the league’s all-time elite with a fourth world championship in seven years, they can finish an unprecedented 19-0 with a victory over the New York Giants.
Logic would say that Goodell wished to keep the world from discovering a grassy knoll on his watch along the way to folks declaring the Patriots as frauds.
Which the Patriots are. Among other accusations within the past few days, ESPN.com reported that former video guy Matt Walsh has evidence that Belichick was doing ugly things in the shadows during Walsh’s seven year with the Patriots’ through the 2002 season. Interestingly, that was the season after the Patriots began their streak of dominance with an upset of the St. Louis Rams in the Super Bowl.
“It could be zero in the loss column for them, and they could beat all of those teams for an entire season, but the reality is, people always will have thoughts of ‘What happened?’ and ‘Yeah, really,’ and ‘Tell us the real story?’ ” said Michael Irvin, the star receiver on three Super Bowl champions for the Dallas Cowboys. “All stories get greater later. So even though [the NFL and the Patriots] claim that it only happened in the first quarter in the first game of this season, it’s going to get greater later.
“Thirty years from now, we might even have them spying and stealing signals in some of those Super Bowls. When it comes to their whole season, it’s going to be tainted, and that’s just the truth.”
That’s because we’ve yet to hear the truth on the matter.
Instead, we got whatever Goodell was talking about on Friday regarding the NFL and the Patriots during his state of the league address. Questions on Spygate were asked more than a half-dozen times during Goodell’s 50 minutes before the national and international media. To paraphrase: He said he destroyed the tapes and the notes from the Patriots to make sure that if such material surfaced again, he could tell that it wasn’t leaked by the league.
He said Spygate wasn’t a big deal, because he said many teams have cheated in sports throughout history and that he disciplined the Patriots (large fines to Belichick and to the team and the stripping of a first-round draft pick) for getting caught. He said there was no evidence of the Patriots ever cheating in a Super Bowl. He said this was just a one-time thing by the Patriots.
He also said Oswald acted alone. Well, not really, but he wanted to.

I think that the along with the fines and the loss of a draft pick, the Patriots should have been forced to forfeit that first game. It will be interesting to see how big this iceberg really is. You wonder how many other Patriot “victories” are included. That being said, I think Congress has more important things to do, rather than investigate this mess.

Professional sports are way out of control, and college is not far behind. There is just too much money, and it is mainly coming from us. We are as addicted to sports as we are to oil, and we are getting scammed on both counts. Nice article, Terrence.

You are a seriously disturbed individual who needs immediate diagnosis and in-patient treatment.
You are apparently ok that a senile senator on the take attempts to give the NFL black eye on the grandest stage to benefit two his largest “contributors.” His original one paragraph fax, sent to the NFL public number, was a pathetic inquiry apparently written after one too many sherries at the club. They probably receive thousands similar or better ravings weekly. That letterhead is pretty generic looking too, especially by fax. (Btw, what moron doesn’t followup such an “important” demand with a mailed hard copy? You?)
Your typical Joesixpack69 writes at a higher level (10th grade?) than the supposedly honorable hack from PA.
His tired act should be exposed for what it was, but people like you latch on to his predictable vitriol and choose instead to attack possibly the greatest team/coach/QB in history. Your proclaimed “logic” is patently faulty, so please refrain from any further attempts to support your jealous bias with such indefensible nonsense.
Shallow my petty friend, Shallow.
Sit back and enjoy the greatest NFL performance.

Hey Doofus, you need to watch the Discovery channel instead of ESPN 24/7. You might actually learn something.
They replicated the “magic bullet” shot using anatomically correct mannequins and the same type/caliber rifle that Oswald used.
Second, Congress has no business sticking their nose in the NFL, MLB (steroids), or any other sports enterprises.
They’ve [Congress] shipped our jobs to China, put out the welcome mat on our southern border, shoveled hundred$ of Billion$ down a gaping, sucking hole called Iraq, but the most pressing issue for these idiots is whether the NFL cheats.
Give me a break.

Investigating steroids is one thing because these drugs get down into high schools and even junior high. But going after an incident involving sideline taping? Ridiculous. In the northeast Specter is widely regarded as a bufoon. This won’t help his reputation at all.

If a a player commits pass interference and the ref doesn’t see it is he cheating if he doesn’t demand to be penalized. This may be the only team in history go a whole season and win the Superbowl cheat free. What other team has been under so much scrutiny and had there communications and sidelines monitored at every game?

Mr. Moore, Please make up your mind. You agree with Goodell when it benefits your columns. You talk out of two sides of your mouth. I question who the real fraud is here. Please realize that you have no proof. Therefore, please be a responsible journalist and not an opinionated editorial writer who is jealous because your hometown team just can’t get it right. now, you have some more fodder to get you through a few more weeks of writing the same thing over and over. Hmmm. I wonder why circulation at the AJC is down, and why my 8th grade students won’t read the paper because they feel that some sports writers do not yield meaningful content.

This investigation is stupid. ALL the teams were doing it. Some were good with it (Patriots), some were NOT just like they are at not anything else (Falcons). Even if they were, SO WHAT! Football is about ADJUSTMENTS! After the Patriots got caught, they proceeded to STOMP everyone, so what good were the tapes anyway? They went undefeated. We live in a country where soldiers are dying for nothing and I for one don’t think they matter anymore because in just the last year the governtment has taken on a dogfighting case (JUST THE STUPIDEST THING EVER!), 2 perjury about steriods cases (Marion Jones and Barry Bonds) and are embarking upon another (Clemens) and now this mess. What a waste of money. Maybe three soldiers will get blown up for that cause… What a way to govern….

Do people actually get paid for writing this garbage? I need to take up a new profession cause I could think up some serious garbage to publish with a bit of effort.
The patriots have not been to the superbowl in two years.. dont you think that if they where cheating to win they wouldnt have lost to the Colts last year? and be on thier 6th title?
They did this year straight up and have been watched like a Hawk. If you think other wise then you need to stop smoking the paper you write for. The inks causing brain damage.

Terrence,
Don’t quite your day job! Stick to journalism and don’t try to morph yourself into a ballistics expert.
There was no “magic” bullet in the JFK assassination. Rather, it was a high caliber bullet that acted precisely according to the normal physics that any high caliber rifle bullet would react to.
A scientific documentary show was setup to replicate with precision the fired shot that wounded the Texas governor and President. The exact height, distance, and angle was setup for the point of the shot.
The exact seating arrangements were replicated for the governor and President in an exact copy of the car they rode in.
The exact same model rifle and bullet was fired at ballistics gel models with internal skeletons.
The result?
The bullet fired in the test performed precisely like the actual bullet did on that tragic day in Dallas! Included in this was the slight deformation to the bullet that was produced on the fatal shot.
Every single wound point in both models precisely matched the wounds the governor and President suffered.
I would have commented on your sports related views which I agree with. But when you tried to go into the area of ballistics science I decided it was more important to correct the record.

I think they should investigate the Pats and the iraq war. Bechtel is rebuilding iraq like the big dig.The Pats will get in trouble before congress and bush. The magic bullet does seem to make sense. It’s the headshot bullet and JFK’s missing brain and did oswald get cia lsd to make him seem crazy that i would like to know about. I’ve always hated Specter for getting bail for ira einhorn-he fled the country and avoided capture for years.Watch the Unicorn Killer tv movie-I’m glad they didn’t change Spector’s name. The murder victim’s family suffered for years.

Vick got the rath of the feds because he went across state lines. Should’nt Bellecheet have to answer on federal charges because he did also. vick had to pay 1 mil for care of the dogs left on property. Bellecheet had to pay 1/2 mil to charity. Vick had to make public apology, Bellecheet said it was a league matter . Goddell was to lax on Bellecheet and Vick’s judge to hard on him.

You gotta love Roger Goodell. His immaculate message: Go ahead and attempt to violate the integrity of the game as much as you want and we’ll sweep it under the rug: just make sure you don’t smoke a blunt on your off day.
What a moron. I’m sure his Fox News anchor wife is proud.
(I actually don’t think the Spygate thing is that big of a deal… I mean, how much could it have helped them really? But I just had to point out what a punk-a* trick Roger Goodell is.)

Every team in pro sports cheats. The Patriots just got caught doing it. This isn’t a video game where they line up to play Madden 08. They still have to make plays. They still have to have players perform. Anybody who whines about the Patriots and calls them cheaters, if this was your favorite team playing for their fourth Super Bowl title this decade would you be crying? I doubt it.

But I totally agree; the first spy gate was no big deal in my opinion, NE was forgiving in my mind and all the damage was done. Well not anymore. This thing will end up being like Clemons’ trainer where he looks like an idiot at first then once people investigate he’ll look like a genius. New England’s three ,potentially four after tomorrow, super bowls are tainted and all you bandwagon Patriot fans in Atlanta can get the hell out cause you guys are just as worst as the Patriots themselves. Thanks Terence,
I’m glad this thing is coming back out. It’s amazing how the NFL swept this thing under the rug. This is far worse than what Vick did. What the Patriots did highly affected the outcome of the game. Goddell treated Vick like trash, and gave Bellicheat a slap on the wrist. What da hell? I’m glad congress is stepping in. But on the behalf of Bellicheat, atleast he did stick up for Randy Moss during his altercation with the abuse. I bet if Vick were on the Patriots, he would not be in jail right now. Bellicheat knows how to sweep stuff under the rug.

Don’t be hating on the Patriots and Bill Belichick. This is an organization that has put an emphasis on winning, not just division titles or conference titles, but World titles. It’s not the Patriots fault that the other teams in the league aren’t as good as they are. They are a team that should be looked up to and admired.

Did the Patriots cheat? YES!!! But I’m not that naive to sit here and say that was the only reason for why they have won every game since 2000. If they win tomorrow then they will be the BEST team not only in NFL history but probably in sports history probably next to the ‘96 Bulls. But if all you Patriot fans can sit there and say that there’s nothing wrong with what they did then your crazy. I don’t care if every team does it, they got caught.

Rarely ever do I agree with you, however, you are right on the mark this time. Forget about the clam chowder eating joker transplants from New England ripping you on this blog. They know the truth and just can’t bring themselves to admit it. They don’t want to have to revert back to the days of Steve Grogan, neckless one, and the other losers to don a Pats jersey in the past. Yeah, the good old days before the Bellicheat era.
I just watched the highlights from the Patriots-Rams Super Bowl, following some last minute footage from the Rams walk through. Let me be the first to tell the people on this blog, THAT TAPE may well have been the difference in that game. Watch it for yourselves, and specifically when the Rams get into the red zone. This is no conspiracy, this is devastating to the Pats legacy in my opinion. George Mitchell has a new job when he completes his “steroids in baseball” schtick. Someone needs to open a full scale investigation on these guys ASAP. And please Pats fans, this does not in any way take away from what Tom Brady has accomplished. But with him behind center, why seek an illegal edge?? WAKE UP.

This time Terence Moore is right. Let’s think about this for a minute folks. Roger Goddell came down pretty hard on Mike Vick and just about ended his career, OK Kool. Now, with all fairness, why is Bill Belacheat even on the field. Of course they are in the Super bowl now. But has anyone wondered about the past Superbowls they won and how they got there possibly from cheating. Now I’m not hating, but if you Patriot fans supported Goddell on Vick and many other players and coaches. Why not be tough on this deal.* Why were the tapes destroyed patriot fans? What is there to hide? *One that wins does it passion. Why are you so mad when this subject is talked about. I’ll watch the game like everyone else. If the giants win I’ll truly be happy. If the Patriots win, there will allways be that question lingering, and Goddell has a lot of explaining to do after the Senate hearings come forth. Cheating is cheating. Wining is wining. If you cheat you are not truly a Winner, you stole the Trophy you so called smart guys. The Patriots don’t even deserve the first three Trophy’s. That’s for Damn sure. Cut the bull and get real.

And just to repeat, there is no question that Tom Brady is the man. And his O Line is clearly one of the best in the game.(as good as Brady is you gotta admit he’s got all day to throw most of the time) And the D has been strong for quite awhile.
So I’m not hating on the team, I’m hating on the impact this cheating thing may have had on history. With all of the talent, why do you need this edge? And please people stop with the “everybody does it” crap, thats BS. People may have done it from time to time when the opportunity presented itself, but its not as widespread as you make it out to be. WAKE UP!!

Once again, another stupid article about the Patriots and stealing signals that weren’t even used for the game being played. They were for reference for future games besides the fact that most teams have 2-3 signal callers on their side-lines so signal stealing isn’t a problem. What about the Colts using sound in their Dome for advantage so nobody can hear the calls being made. What about the Broncos busting their sallary-cap and winning 2 SuperBowls??? Let’s not mention that though. My favorite is last years Championship game with the Colts when the Ref through a flag that doesn’t even exist in the league anymore and later admitted he messed up…cost us another Title that’s all.
The Patriots have done what nobody else has, gone 18-0 and without cheating at that. Tough luck all Steeler fans, Dolphin fans, and Cowboy fans, all jealous of something they could never accomplish.
The article though could not have come at a better time, right before the Superbowl. I hope Belichick, with his gray cut-off hoodie, blows his top and destroys the Giants by 40 points and rips the trophie out of the hands of Goodell with a “Take That” look on his face..maybe even a smile will surface.

Terence you are the fraud. Where do you get off making comments like these before all the facts are in? First of all, these allegations refer to previous seasons. If you want to call those into question, fine, that’s your right. The Patriots were caught with the video equipment in week 1 of this year, so nothing they have done this year could have possibly gained them any competitive advantage. Second of all, Goodell sent that memo about videotaping to EVERY team in the NFL. Why every team? Because EVERY team was videotaping other teams, not just the Pats. Wake up and smell the coffee. Why would Goodell send the memo to EVERY team if only the Pats were videotaping?? He wouldn’t. I don’t even think videotaping was illegal before Goodell cracked down on it this year. Why do you think coaches always cover their lips when reading the plays and have been doing it for years? Because teams have been doing it for years. It’s sick that the Pats have to take the fall for every team in the NFL doing this. How dare you write this sick column. You should be ashamed. I hope the Falcons never win again.

Somewhere in the ether is a little lost clue looking for it’s DB GT (aka, “The Simpleminded”) who said “I just watched the highlights from the Patriots-Rams Super Bowl…Watch it for yourselves, and specifically when the Rams get into the red zone.”
I watched this too. The Rams didn’t get into the Red Zone until the fourth quarter of this game and they scored a touchdown both times.
Does this give you any clue about how idiotic your post was?

I’ll admit that I seldom read your column, but the headline grabbed my attention this time. You are, without any shadow of doubt, the poorest writer I have ever had the misfortune to be exposed to. Go back to Cinn. and write about your first (and only) love — the Big Red Machine. And when you go please remove the big chip on your shoulder, because you usually find a way to bring race into whatever issue you’re writing about, with the end result you being more of a “race w*******” than Jessie Jackson, and that’s pretty hard to accomplish. You suck as a writer, and based on your writings, I believe you also suck as a person. The Patriots diatribe is an example of your incompetence, but I guess I have to take into account who you’re writing for.

As a sports fan, I find it a shame for the new record breakers in sports these days. Someone always has to find a way that they “cheated” in order to break that record. Whether it being Barry Bonds breaking the homerun record or the Patriots from having a perfect season, sports are no fun to watch anymore.

Lol at the AJC for publishing this. The Pats are perennial SB contenders - and their best players are all mostly white. So obviously, they are cheating.
Get over it. The Pats out-played, out-hustled, out-muscled, out-smarted every team in the AFC to get here. They deserve to be in the SB. The bottom line is that they WIN.

Those thinking that this is like Vick’s dogs are sick people. If you really believe that what Vick did was okay, then I believe you are true rednecks, not just people living in the South. By the way, Henry Grady said it when he called “your turf” the “New South.” It is one like the North. That’s why you Son’s of the Confederacy actually still live here. It’s because you can. You fired the first shot, then called it the War of Northern Aggression. Back to the point, stop putting down the Northerners that are here. We saved you then, and still do. As far as your pitiful Vick stories, get a clue. Cheating is wrong- PERIOD. Killing dogs is not even in the same league as killing dogs. You need to move past the Vick “conspiracy.”

I think what could turn out to be most interesting is the effect and controversy that could develop around Arlen Specter. Consider this. Comcast has issues with the NFL over the carrying of NFL Network. This is well documenetd. THE NFL hasn’t budged in this matter. Comcast is Specter’s second largest campaign donator. I think the story is Specter.

First of all, no one here really cares about the Falcons, so all those Michael Vick comments from New England fans have little effect. Second, what a shock to get such racist remarks from Patriot fans. Who would have ever thought there were racists in Boston? Ha. We should tell the KKK move North to be with their people, especially since most of those KKK members moved North anyway. And finally, the real issue is the NFL destroying all the evidence, not that the Patriots have thugs (all NFL teams do) or that they have players that father illegitimate children and ignore them (way to go Tom Brady, you’re a real inspiration to deadbeat dads everywhere) or that Bill Belichick is a prick (hey it rhymes, and anyway, most NFL coaches are pricks). It’s that Goodall and his cronies destroyed evidence so as not to disturb one of the greatest sports achievements of all time, and you can’t investigate something that doesn’t exist. Would the Patriots have beaten every team that they played this year? Absolutely. Are they cheaters? Absolutely.

Usually I get a chuckle out of your articles, however, you struck a nerve when you called everyone supporting Vick “stupid”. See, I rather have a dog fighting QB that wins games than a blue-eyed All-American who can’t find the end zone. If you hate the teams and fans in Atl so much, move to South Dakota. “Logic says” is hardly proof of cheating. Either is the fact that Vince Wilfork has $37500 in fines this season. Speculation from Michael Irvin is not only irrelevant, but also unreliable. The guy uses crack. The Patriots have been the most scrutinized team in the history of sports; and yet they’re 19-0. Logic says you are jealous of their success.

Mr Moore’s poorly articulated position is predicated on his inability to secure hard facts to support his ever-expanding grassy knoll conspirancy theory. They got caught cheating, once, and they were strongly penalized. Since the first quarter of the first game, they have been the most scrutenized team in the league - with no findings of wrong doing. Its time to move on and give them their due for an amazing season. If this represents Moore’s version of “logic”, I can only hope he’s not a member of the jury, should I ever find myself on the wrong end of the law.

It’s one thing for Congress to get their hands dirty with the steroids issue in baseball — steroids are illegal.
Whatever Goodell did in handling the issue with the Patriots is his own business — what is a Senator doing on ESPN? What right does this man have to grill Goodell and tell him how to do his job?

Congratulations Terence. Like many good columnists, you’ve created a reaction by taking a legitimate point and blowing it completely out of proportion.
It is worth knowing if the Patriots have been illegally taping signals, walk-throughs, etc., especially if it happened before a Super Bowl. But to suggest that this have given them some sort of unbeatable advantage or that their opponents haven’t used similar tactics is naive, simplistic and ends up making me question your motive for writing this column.
As many a post above has said, the Patriots accomplishments this season - given the tremendous scrutiny they have been under, especially as it regards sideline taping and the like - have been nothing less than historic. Your petty attempt at tearing them down, driven mostly it seems by your thirst for controversy and blog comments but certainly not reasoned consideration, is childish and ultimately forgettable.
Enjoy the game. I’m looking forward to the most watched program in television history. Here’s betting you overcome your outrage long enough to watch too.

The Pats made a mistake, they’ve paid for that.
What bothered me most about it, was that the Commissioner did not investigate all the other teams. I know he heard what we heard out here - all the teams do it!
This Pats team has gone undefeated and it’s the players executing and the talent to execute on the field!
Fans get jealous when one team reigns supreme - JEALOUSY PREVAILS! It’s tough when your team stinks!
What gets me, Arlen Spector is a US Senator and this country is in a mess and our men and women are being killed in an occupation in Iraq. Our gas prices are killing Americans in the pocket. Our citizens w/out healthcare are dying AND, this guy who was elected to fix all these things …. is getting involved in the NFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That’s NOT his job and never should be - that’s why they have a Commissioner! Stay out of sports Spector, you and your party have screwed the American public enough!

Jealousy IS the best form of compliment any team can get. The Pats paid the price for what they did earlier in the season … this is over!

Looks like you’re getting buried on this one Terrace. As you should. I knew you would when I read the title of the article. I was shocked to say the least. I to was not a Patriot fan when they got a lucky and brasen call against the Raiders in a snow storm during the playofs some years back, but I eventually came to the conclusion they are consistent and you have to respect that. I have to say one thing about some of your dissenters, they have made my morning. Some of the comments are sooo funny. I have been laughing out loud which is something that haven’t done in a few months since I lost my job after 17 years. (Not to worry, I have lots of money in various places) Thanks Patriot fans and yes there are more important things than the Superbowl obviously. How about we just enjoy the game because tomorrow it’s back to business as usual. Go Patriots. Peace out.

The only “fraud” I see is the one where you claim being a journalist. You have been nothing but a messenger of cynicism and negativity. Sports are our escape from a negative, cynical world, can we keep it fun at least sometimes? The Patriots are undefeated because they beat every team fair and square by capitalizing on their mistakes, not by anything they were doing on the sidelines.

Wow, I never thought there were so many Patriots apologists out there. Let’s see if I get this straight. They were specifically told one week before the opener not to tape and they went out and arrogantly did so anyway. Comparatively speaking, Goodell then slaps them on the wrist and, worse yet, destorys the tapes which then makes him judge, jury and executioner on the issue of just how useful the tapes were in the first instance by destroying them.
The rationale for doing so was that they might be leaked and if they saw the light of day could somehow give someone a “competitive” advantage. God forbid that those tapes could be analyzed by other eyes so that the public (you know the fans who love this game and pay billions of dollars to support it)could be convinced that the Patriots didn’t benefit significantly by them. Sorry, Roger, that is one of the lamest excuses for someone destroying potential evidence that I have heard, particularly from someone who should know better.
My other favorite excuse is the old “everyone else does it”. Maybe yes and maybe no. The fact of the matter is NE got caught. Next time one of you excuse makers gets caught speeding, try defending the charge by tellling the judge that the cop didn’t arrest other speeders.
Probably the worst aspect of Goodell’s destruction of the tapes is that he also subscribes to the “it’s really not so bad because they weren’t the only ones doing it”. This attitude is bad enought when it comes from a fan or even the media for that matter, but from the commissioner of a multi-billion dollar industry charged with not only insuring the integrity of the game, but making sure that the public is convinced that he is doing so. Unfortunately, because of the destruction of the tapes, this fan and I am sure millions of others will never be convinced that the tapes were as innocent as Goodell claims.
Finally, two final questions for you apologists out there. If it wasn’t so bad, then why did the league prohibit it in the first instance and fine the Patriots and make them surrender a draft pick when they got caught? If the Patriots didn’t get a competitive advantage by doing it, then why did they do it in the first instance, particularly after being specifically warned one week earlier not to do so?
By Charlie M.

Have you all forgotton that this is a competitve profession and like any profession, people (in this case players, coaches, owners) will do anything to get an advantage. It is the nature of competition. You can cry all you want about the Patriots but the truth is that every NFL organization is guilty to some sort of degree. Accusations are rampant among every team. Don’t hate the player, hate the game.

Let’s see, according to Mr. Moore, there is no doubt that the Kennedy assassination was a conspiracy. We all know that, don’t we? Then he creates an analogy with someone videotaping part of a football game. I don’t see the parallel. I do see the illogical passion. Terrence obviously is near psychotically possessed by the Kennedy assassination. One would conclude that the lack of objectivity applies to this trivial football issue. It’s football, no more, no less

This guy is nuts. Anytime we have someone or a team of someones doing something historical somone has to go and post a note or article to take away from the feat. Mr. Moore sounds like a poor sport and is upset about his team getting beat by the Pats. Yeah, they made mistakes and they have and will continue to pay for them, but when they win today, we need to give them props for what no other team has ever done and that is to go 19-0.

As a rule, I don’t usually agree with much that Terrence Moore writes. However, this time I whole-heartedly agree. And, to the idea of many responding to this column that Congress has more important things to deal with, I once agreed to that too. However, since the NFL is a multi-billion dollar entity, and since much money is wagered, either legally or illegally on the outcome of its games, Congress must and should investigate this situation. I am a sports fan, particularly college football and all areas of baseball, but sports have become why too important in our culture. When, high school sports is being televised by ESPN and the like, and kids are allowed to tranfer at will for virtually little or no reason, it time to reign in all sports, particularly professional sports. Of course having that paragon of virtue and ethical behavior, the U.S. Congress, conduct the investigation is a little like having the wolf guarding the hen house.

Terrance, your journalism card should be taken away. This is the worst piece of crap I have read in a long time. I can’t understand how it got past the AJC editors. All we have are accusations and innuendos, and on the basis of that, you write this disgusting article when nothing has been proven. Why is this suddenly coming out now when Spygate was 4 months ago? Sounds like someone with a vendetta against the Patriots to me. Sounds like the guy who videotaped the Rams was a disgruntled employee who tried to get back in favor with the team who fired him by taping the Rams practices. Which wasn’t even necessarily illegal at the time. Spying has been an accepted practice for years. It’s sick to me how the Pats have to take the hit for every team in the league that is spying. That memo was sent to EVERY team in the league Paul, not just the Pats. Because every team in the league was spying. Terrance you have disgraced the journalism profession with your article. I was use it for my dogs to crap on.

Terrence - how can the NATIONAL Football League championship game (Superbowl) determine the WORLD champion? So many people refer to the NFL, NBA, or MLB champions as “world champions” and it’s bogus. I don’t think there’s ever been an American Football world championship played, same with basketball - Olympics don’t count. The baseball world champions are Japan, having won the world championship. Let’s not feed the stereotype of America as pompous and arrogant.

The Giants went through Tampa(1),Dallas(1) and Green Bay(1). No slouches there. Tom Brady has shown vulnerability, by the way, Eli has outplayed Brady as of late. If the PATS need the spygate to motivate them, that does not say a lot. By the way, there are two teams on the field. The question is who wants it more? I don’t see the Giants lying down as everyone have them doing so.

Terrance, I’ve never been a part of bashing your point of view, but this one seems to have erupted from the orifice in your nether regions, dummy. All sports teams seek an advantage in their respective sports. Taping someones handsigns to interpret their intent is the reason there are handsigns anyway. Ever watch the ridiculous movements baseball managers project to their teams? The reason they are so elaborate is because they hope no one figures them out (which would be “gaining an advantage”, not cheating). As to the lowest IQ holders responding to this silly report, let me point out that Vick, Pacman, and Tank weren’t suspected or caught cheating at football. They embraced criminal activity and chose to be bottom feeders. No one did anything to Vick and Pacman, except give them a rare oppotunity. In return they spit in all of our faces. There is no comparison to what this collection of trash has done and someones desire to win a sports contest! Now, I’ve never been a Pats fan, and I will probably never cheer for them after this season. But I am excited about seeing history made, and it’s stupid to buy into what you are selling with this particular article.

Terence Moore once again brings out only the worst in Atlanta’s black-white community relations.

TMoore’s race baiting articles must end. The ajc nor teh City of ATlanta benefit from TMoore’s inciting hatred.
