Pacman Jones gobbles trouble
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
If you’re among the young athletes out there with more than a little talent and with the propensity for resembling a knucklehead, please become the anti-Pacman Jones.
More specifically, please seek to remain your version of Adam Jones (Pacman’s real name, by the way), which means don’t devolve into an out-of-control character instead of yourself, which means please act like you have some sense.
Just trying to help.
Not to bore you with all the details, because you likely already know the ongoing silliness of Jones, the former Westlake High School football star turned NFL standout for a moment. That said, since joining the Tennessee Titans in 2005, Jones has spent more time in courtrooms than locker rooms. You name it, and Jones probably has been accused of it, or he actually has done it.
As a result, Jones was suspended for all of last season by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. Later, with help from the players’ association, he tried to return early by claiming he’d learned his lesson, but Goodell wasn’t convinced.
Good thing. Now Jones is involved in another mess. According to officials of the Fulton County Magistrate Court, Jones allegedly punched a woman in an Atlanta strip club. I mean, after everything Jones has encountered, why is he even putting himself in these situations?
No, he doesn’t get it. Hopefully, he is creating others that will.
Well, hopefully.

It’s one of the great mysteries of life. A young athlete and a lot of money is a dangerous combination.

Its truly a sad situation. To come from where he’s from and overcome all that adversity to make into a elite organization like the NFL, and throw it all away time after time. I’m from the same part of town that Pac is from, so I know the environment… It baffles me that he continues to place himself in these dumb situations. If someone stole his millions he would have a fit, but yet he himself is basically throwin his millions away. At this rate, what is next?

I watched Pacman in high school since my daughter was part of the band. You could see he was a very good player even as a freshman. However everyone at Westlake knew he had big issues when it came to his conduct and his ability to relate to other students. He was a clown then and now he is an even bigger clown. What a waste of talent.

The young athlete will only be changed when teams quit signing them. Tennessee had plenty of forewarning that Jones wasn’t the Pope. They drafted him anyway.

Free Pacman? Bruh you trippin. He dont deserve to be free. While the Falcons tryin to make Vick pay back 20 mill, Pac is the one that need to pay back his money and banned from the league. He is not only messing it up for himself, he is messing it up for future athletes. Teams in the future will be more hesitant to take a chance on guys from the inner city, like Pacman. Thats the BIG PICTURE.

I am not trying to defend Adam Jones. He is indefenseable. But, the so-called “victim” in this latest run-in is a lawyer that is in a strip joint at 3AM working on a divorce case?! Give me a break!!

WHY IN THE HELL IS AN ATTORNEY MEETING WITH THEIR CLIENT IN A STRIP CLUB? I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR THAT EXPLANATION, ESPECIALLY WHEN THAT CLIENT HAS A BAD REPUTATION REGARDING STRIP CLUBS. DOES SHE WORK THEIR PART-TIME?

Pac is a misunderstood person. We all make mistakes. You are no different. I pray that you are not judged like him. Let’s all ask that he be forgiven and not wish harm upon him.

Oh, I get it! It’s perfectly okay for 260lb “professional” football player to beat up 110lb woman if she’s in a strip club.
Thanks, Darrin and dawgbite for clearing that up.
BTW, not that it should matter, but a good attorney s/b getting $150+/hour. If someone is making that much off me, I think a client has theright to decide where they meet.

ANOTHER SAD CASE OF A YOUNG AFRICAN MALE WITH MONEY FROM THE INNER CITY THROWING IT ALL AWAY FOR STREET CREDIBILITY.A FOOL IS A FOOL WHETHER HE’S BROKE OR IF HE’S WORTH MILLIONS.THE ISSUE THAT I’M STRESSING THAT YOUNG WHITE ATHELETES GET INTO TROUBLE TOO.IT SEEMS THE MEDIA AND SOCIETY PUTS MORE EMPHASIS ON THE BLACK ATHLETE!
By adam

Its not that their is more emphasis put on black athletes when they get in trouble. Its that the public is quicker to forgive white athletes. This is off topic but i always here this defense for barry bonds. I have never even thought of barry bonds as being black. I think of him as a jerk. That goes beyond race as everything should. Pacman is a moron. He is obviously too stupid too change. Waste no more time on him and if he gets in no trouble for a while then all will be forgotten.

I hope the Titans cut him so he can be signed by the Falcons! Imagine him and DeAngelo Hall in the same secondary! That would be scary, very scary.

I wonder how much jail time Pacman will get now that he has allegedly sucker punched one human being in the face, after paralyzing another human being for life in a separate incident?
Something tells me less than 23 months.
You know what would be hilarious? If the Falcons traded DeAngelo Hall for Pacman Jones straight up. I would LOVE to see the reaction from the morons who think Hall needs to be traded.

This is a opinion site. When I hear someone say “dont be quick to judge” I laugh. Every one judges others to a certain extent, its human nature. Pacman keeps putting himself into situations that turn sour! He is responsible for his actions and that includes choices he makes on who he hangs out with & places he frequents. He has been cautioned by numerous people, but he still continues to do the same things that got him in trouble. You tell me how else would you interpet it other than not being smart. Pacman get smart!!!!!

Why do you people keep putting your entire message in bold face? Do you really think your words are so much more important than the words of others that they have to be in bold to make sure everyone reads them? I thought Nell Carter was dead. Gimme a Break!

You can strutinize, analyze, psycho-analyze, and simonize him. Here’s the bottom line: 1. he’s not very smart and 2. he can’t tolerate alcohol or other mood-altering substances.
If he’s wants toget back in the league, he’s goning to have to get some help.

Rob,Whether dog fighting should be or should’nt be a crime is debatable. But being involved with it knowing it is a crime is the STUPID part. There are many laws that I think are stupid. But I’m not knowingly going to break those laws, and if caught expect anything less than the letter of the law in terms of a sentence. Anything less would be STUPID. Mike was guilty of a Felony crime that HE knew was a Felony Crime. Don’t be Stupid as Mike.

If this guy keeps screwing with people at 3am in these strip clubs, sooner or later he’s going to get smoked. He will run across that dude that don’t give a damn who he is and that will put a damn bullet in his head. There are some crazy people in this world who are all coked up and don’t give a $hit about anything. Pacman better watch out or the next time he makes the news it might be in a body bag.
