Falcons actually did the best they could

Mark Bradley

This one bore all the trappings of a holiday embarrassment. You know, like the time your Uncle Pete had too much sherry and wound up face down in the cranberry sauce. Or, to cite an infamous chapter in franchise annals, the time the Falcons closed a 3-13 season in the chill of Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium before an intimate gathering of 7,792.

The date: Dec. 24, 1989. I was among the few on hand that wretched afternoon — indeed, I interviewed every hardy patron sitting in one section of the lower deck, all three of them — and en route to the Dome I had visions of something similar besmirching this Thanksgiving. Which only goes to show: As bad as this season has been, it can’t hold a candle to 1989. Give thanks for small favors.

Not to say this campaign has been chock-full of fun and frolic. It’s never a good sign when your franchise player spends Thanksgiving in prison, and it’s hard to anticipate glad tidings when you’re playing the Super Bowl champs with half your roster hurt and the other half wishing it were. But say this for these Falcons: They gave a decent account of themselves, at least for a while. They made Peyton Manning work to beat them.

He did beat them, of course. (What, you were expecting, “Miracle on Northside Drive?”) But he had to clamber from a 10-0 hole to do it, and when you’re the Falcons and your last 10-point lead came 53 days ago … well, you’re tempted to take a picture of the scoreboard for use in next year’s media guide, the way Division I-AA teams do when facing one of the big boys.

Such a photo, it should be noted, would show a surprisingly full Dome. Attendance was announced as 69,845, and the actual crowd seemed pretty close to that. That means an awful lot of folks left hearth and home to venture downtown for this glaring mismatch. Who knew so many among us had an Uncle Pete to duck out on?

The Falcons gave the paying public as good a show as they’re apt to give. They led by 10 after one quarter and were in decent shape midway through the second. Leading 13-7, they’d forced the Colts to punt for the third time in four possessions. Alas, referee Mike Carey suffered a hallucination. He thought he saw Demorrio Williams run into Hunter Smith. What really happened was that Hunter the Punter gave a little hop and landed atop Williams, which shouldn’t have been a penalty but was adjudged as such.

The Colts took their gift and put the Falcons to bed. Indianapolis led 21-13 at the half but only 31-13 at the end. So now you’re asking: “Is this all we can reasonably ask, that the Falcons be semi-competitive against a really good opponent for a little while?” And the answer is …

Yes. What transpired Thursday night was the depleted 2007 Falcons playing at something approaching maximum capacity. They might win another game — some tepid teams remain on the schedule — but they can’t line up and play against anybody of consequence for long. They’re as lousy as we thought they’d be when Michael Vick was indicted.

“We felt like we had an opportunity to win,” said Bobby Petrino, but coaches always think that way when they’re fiddling with their X’s and O’s. And then the game begins and theory yields to reality, and that’s what keeps happening to the Falcons — an underwhelming team gets overwhelmed by the cold, cold truth.

There aren’t supposed to be any moral victories in the NFL, but the Falcons aren’t capable of much more. They could have lost 45-3 Thursday night, but they did better than that. They actually came closer against the Colts than they had against Tampa Bay five days earlier. Give thanks for small favors.

The Falcons look a LOT BETTER with Byron Leftwich on the bench (3rd String). Too bad College Coach Petrino didn’t realize this BEFORE the Tampa Bay game.

Great game Roddy. Nice to see you turn the ball back into the field instead of going out of bounds. Chris Houston, I thought you played very well considering you are just starting in the NFL and playing against one of the best QB’s in the NFL. Coach Petrino, keep plugging away at em this team and city , need you much more than you know. Plz ignore the idiots like “Bum” up above.

I thought the Falcon did a fair job tonight against the Colts, I have seen far worst this year. I keep telling teams week in and week out, you are not going to run the ball on the Colts! Second, COME ON BRADLEY, don’t cry about your injured players! The Colts were missing their two staring O tackles, Marvin Harrison, Mr. Freeney, Mcfarland, and Rob Morris! So don’t make yourself look bad by crying injuries! GO COLTS! WORLD CHAMPS!!

I usually regard writers in high esteem. Did the best they could? The team mailed another one in! Was apparently obvious to all but you. Did not escape attention of those (few masochists) watching! Best QB kept on Falcon bench. Best RB kept on Falcon bench (mostly). Worst coach in NFL walking Falcon sidelines. Perfect turks for Turkey Day! Do not be misled. THIS TEAM GAVE UP BEFORE THE OPENING KICKOFF OF SEASON! A high classication HIGH SCHOOL SQUAD would give them serious trouble! God bless.

How did the Falcons get to this? McKay-McKay-McKay This is crazy-Petrino is a college coach-but even worst then that he brought all those college Assistants, not very smart. Who do we draft? I know we need a real QB but do you pass over McFadden or Dorsey? What about the weakest receiving core in the league? What about the O-line that helped the Falcons to league leading stats in the past only to get with this college O-line coach with his college schemes and now they look like they need to be blocking for a 1-A high school team. Blank needs to demand Petrino add some veteran Pro Assistants to his staff and spend money on the RIGHT FREE AGENTS or this thing will drown very fast!

I know this is not the place for this comment, but it is the ony place I can find. Before the Green Bay-Detroit game there was a very moving tribute to Brett Farve The tribute did not mention the one person that Green Bay owes a great dealto. That being Jerry Glanvill for showing that he was a great evaluator of talent by cutting the great Green Bay quarterback. Way to go Jerry.

1) Joey still missing wide open receivers, even in short routes, and even when he’s not under undue pressure. He’s a nice guy, but in this league, he wouldn’t even be an above average No. 2 quarterback. 2) Receivers still dropping catchable passes, esp. in recent weeks Crumpler, whose mind seems to be elsewhere (perhaps next year his body should join it). 3) The more I look at the kind of talent McKay has hired the last few years, the sicker I get about the Falcons’ prospects in the next few.

We have to be honest about this situation and just say that these Falcons don’t have the balance, depth or skill level to compete with the elite in the NFL. The faulty makeup of the team is really the responsibilty of the front office. I cite these examples.

  1. For seven years now the Falcons have failed to draft or accquire through free agency, any talent of note on the offensive line instead believing the Alex Gibbs philiosophy that any overweight bum can play O-Line. Great teams protect the QB the Falcons never have.

  2. The Falcons have made bizzare personnel decisions. Go back and look at last season, trading TJ Duckett was directly responsible for the loss of 4 regular season games. Speed and finesse will get you from the 5 to the 5 but without a heavy back to pound the ball in from the one you will lose ball games. 4 more wins last season and the falcons would have been a high seed in the playoffs. But incredibly someone saw the league best rushing trifecta and decided to mess with it. If they don’t already they should apply random drug testing to the front office.

  3. Poor coaching hires and fires, Dan Reeves would have had this team in the super-bowl by now. He was fired for a lack of a backup quarterback and that’s just stupid. To add insult to idiocy they hired that ammonia huffing emabarassment Jim Mora, who took Reeves team to the NFC championship and fell apart after that. Any one remember that Lovie Smith was available when lil Jimmy got the job. He sucked as a head coach but he was the best pitchman since PT Barnum.

Until this team works out the front office problems, builds a scheme that PROVIDES PROTECTION FOR THE FREAKIN QUARTERBACK!! and somehow locates the next Jamal Anderson, we will continue to envy the elite while dealing with the fact that the team we love is, by choice, second rate.

Brett Favre, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, would all suck if they played for the Falcons.

We were season ticket holders back in the sixties. “Same ol Falcons” This Falcon franchise has been a disaster in the overall evaluation of a business. Move the team to Birmingham and let’s get out of the NFL football business!

By Cruzin

November 23, 2007 7:54 AM | Link to this

The Falcons played hard for one quarter and then collapsed. A few inaccurate throws, a couple dropped balls, but that wouldn’t have allowed them to win. They don’t have the talent of a great team. Bobby sure looked foolish tossing the flag after the next play ran. The entire team needs to be rebuilt from the ground up starting with the coach!

By Frustrated

November 23, 2007 8:07 AM | Link to this

I agree with Cruzin. This team needs to be rebuilt especially starting with the coach. It seems every time the Falcons come out playing strong & get a lead, the start to play conservatively like they have sealed the game. I love this team & will be a true & loyal Falcon Fan til the day I die but I would like to see us get a coach that can truely build us for the future. Get a quarterback with some accuracy & mobility and a line that can block for him. Arthur Blank will continue to lose money if he doesn’t get someone in here who can run this football team like it should be ran. Let the coach go, get a quarterback & receivers that can produce & a line that can block. Fans, keep the faith our day has to come soon!!!!!

Well gues what, the young ones in your life will wake up one day and be behind bars and you will be mad at “whitey” for putting them there.

Let me ask you one question. Think really hard about it: People like you say it doesn’t matter about Vick off the field. OK. fair enough. But if the Falcons QB was a member of the KKK, OFF THE FIELD, would you still feel the same way?

Haha. I got a real good laugh. The man can’t miss his favorite player without a bunch of self-righteous bigots stereotyping him. Is bigotry cool now or something ? Let’s harp on the fact that PETA did not keep their part of the bargain with the dog’s well being. Also, source, comparing Mike Vick to a member of the KKK is like comparing a poacher to Hitler. Yeah, they’re both bad, but Michael Vick NEVER hung/killed another human being. Terrible comparison. I am a Falcons fan who misses Michael Vick and I feel I should have the right to express that without punks on these Falcons blogs using prejudice innuendo in an attempt to belittle me or my culture. I am also tired of retards saying people are racist because they are not going to Falcons games now that they are losing. Wake up, people. We are one of the worst teams in the league…who would pay to watch that ?

Anyways, I was actually shocked at how the Falcons came out moving the ball. It looked as if we were going to give Peyton a hard time. We made entirely too many mistakes and missed too many opportunities for big plays. Alge Crumpler is looking VERY bad, either he is unhappy or Vick made him look very good. Michael Boley is probably Rich McKay’s best draft pick (Fire McKay!!) and that’s after having good draft picks 3 out of the last 4 years (IIRC). DeAngelo played a pretty bad game too, excluding his goal line interception. He really needs to learn when to jump a route and how to keep his man in FRONT of him. You need to bench Harrington and play Redman, too. If we draft a QB next year, we’ll be heading into next year with 5 QBs on the roster, so we need to start evaluating what we have.

Go Falcons!

Unbelievable naysayers here today. Of course, some of the usual football geniuses. Give the Falcons credit…they played hard and looked pretty good for most of the game. I hate to whine about calls but good grief we were jobbed a few times. Keep working hard players and coaches. Some of us notice.

By a01311

November 23, 2007 9:43 AM | Link to this

Cumbler - aka Chumpler, dropped a couple of early first downs. Missed a key block on 3rd down and got Dunn killed. Time to release this whiner.

Brooking - Time to release. Get lots of tackles, all from chase down field. Not stuffing anything at the line. Cant stand up a 200lb 4th string rb. Cant defend the pass…How many millions for the great white hope…

Crocker - Touched on touchdown, reverse by penalty. Misses easy pick, next play touchdown. Can’t make 3rd stop at goal line, looked like he didn’t want to take the hit. Time to give up the experiment and release him.

Falcons - Amazingly know Falcon rolled up the thug that took the cheap shot at harrington. How was that guy not thrown out of the game. Oh yeah, lets talk about the tainted officials.

NFL refs: Makes you question the integrety of the officials who worked last nights game. TE clearly out of bounds, 4 feet in front of official with clear view. Same official doesn’t call pass interference on Colts with a hand full of Whites jersey. Next series same guy calls interference on Houston, where replays show no contact. Hold could be called on every play, same guy decided to call it often on Falcons. League should be embarassed by the lack of holding calls on the Colts oline… Multiple occasions the play clock was 0 and colts had not snapped the ball…

But I guess its the coaches fault…

Hall had a good game though…especially considering that they hardly threw at him. Seems like he only gets credit around here for the plays he doesn’t make as opposed to the ones that he does. After ripping him for losing it against Steve Smith earlier in the season, no one said a word about him pretty much shutting Smith down a couple of weeks ago. Btw, I’m all for Redman…HEY JOEY APOLOGISTS, ALL TOGETHER NOW…”REDMAN, REDMAN, REDMAN!”

The sad thing about Bradley’s article is that is mostly TRUE. Unfortunately for us fans, this IS the best that this team can do. They played hard and STILL COULD NOT COMPETE. Even if Petrino is fired and replaced with an NFL veteran coach, this team is YEARS away from being in the top tier of teams. You can scream all you want about drafting a QB or RB, but there are very few positions on this team that do not need rebuilding/replacing, and a couple of draft picks will NOT take care of that. If they signed Tom Brady tomorrow, they would still be a loser next year with all the o-line and defensive weaknesses. I think we are going to have to be very patient for a long time. Good luck.

Petrino has not been given a chance to coach a fully staffed NFL team. The Falcons represent a tattered group of the NFL’s cast offs and unwanted (having to choose between Harrington and failed 3rd stringer Leftwich is an insult). Sure, we’ve got some big names like Dunn, and … well we have Warrick Dunn.

I believe that Petrino can coach in the NFL if given a team with at least moderate talent. Give us an Addai or Reggie Bush. Give us a Jason Campbell or give us (back) a young Brett Favre. Give us an offensive line. Assuming Petrino hasn’t already decided the Falcons are a hopeless, career destroying team and plans to bolt back to college (plenty of big name schools would take him), he needs to have heavy input into off-season personnel moves so that we can fill in the numerous gaps on this team. We need to jettison the self-proclaimed superstars who can’t really like like Meangelo Hall - what a joke - he already cost us at least one game this season we should have won.

Blank needs to get a clue, fire McKay and get ready to spend some money on personnel next year.

Oh and another thought. If the Falcons franchise wants to guarantee that I’ll never buy season tickets again all they have to do is reinstate sociopath MV7 after he gets out of prison.

I thought Petrino had the Falcons going in the right direction until he started Leftwich last week. You have to wonder about any coaching staff thinks that you had any chance to win with his throwing motion. We are a 5 to 7 win team with Joey at QB at best. Joey is not our biggest problem, he is better, than about 1/2 the starters in the NFL, but he is playing behind one of the poorest offensive lines in the league (bottom 5). I think our defensive coaching staff is going a great job.Their guys are playing allot of snaps and their numbers at the end of the year may not look great

By Scooter

The best we could do is an accurate assesment. We have two safeties that couldn’t win the starting job on any NFL team. They can’t cover nor can they tackle. We have a middle LB that seems to put himself out of position to make a tackle or cover the TE coming across the middle. Example: Did anyone but me notice on passing plays Brooking would back up into pass coverge about 15 yards and a TE would make a catch in the vacated area. The Colts did this several times and had a TD because of him doing this. Give Tony T. a shot in the middle. He couldn’t possibly play any worse than Brooking. And our offensive line sucked before the injuries just as bad as they do now. The Mike Vick ordeal has shown how badly Rich Mckay has done building this team. His poor drafting and free-agent signings should be blamed more for the teams poor play than the Mike V. crisis. I truly believe Mckay must improve in these areas for the Falcons to become a better team. Mr. Blank is willing to spend the money to build a contender, but Mckay has got to spend it on better players than washed up ones like Malloy, Gandy, and Hartwell.

Actually, the definition I gave for ‘murder’ was according to the Oxford dictionary…here’s Webster’s: “the crime of unlawfully killing a person especially with malice aforethought.” Okay, back to footaball…

I will say this:

Petrino + Vick= totally different season.

Imagine Vick taking the snap with no running back in the backfield. Who would the defense respect with 5 WR’s and a running QB? Nobody could have seen a collapse of this magnitude coming. Say what you will about Vick’s character, but he was and still is a playmaker, which is why people are now saying out loud “if Vick comes back to Atlanta”. Vick fans went from hope to speculation. Non-Vick fans (who hated him even before the water bottle) went from good riddance to this can’t be happening. Yes, it is possible to be a Vick fan like some on this blog just like it was possible to be a Jordan fan and not necessarily a Bulls fan. We just want to see the electricity on the field again. It doesn’t make us racist or bigots. If Trent Dilfer ran a 4.2 40 and could throw 80 yards, I would be a fan of his too.

Quick note to “The Realist”: Do you have any idea how much more class Harrington has than you do? I couldn’t be more impressed with his professionalism and commitment to the team.

Granted, his play has been up and down, but has averaged, well just about average for the league.

No denying the Falcons aren’t well, but Harrington is not the one losing games for us.

Uh, quick note to nlncmp, I don’t recall raising a debate about ‘class.’ I simply defined murder for those that use the term loosely…then I went on to talk about Joey “Never-Had-A-Winning-Season” Harrington (the football player, not the person) being AWFUL 7 out of his 9 starts this season. As for your argument regarding his ‘character,’ I won’t even go down that road (especially considering the separate standards atheletes AND sports team executives are held to)…as for your argument/excuses regarding Joey “Average-At-Best” Harrington’s play…LOL…please see Jay Black’s entry!

I don’t hate Michael Vick, but he knowingly broke the law and now must pay his punishment. If he’d done something that didn’t offend a large segment of the football watching community, a “victimless crime” as they say, he might still have a future in the NFL - he might anyway if he can rehab his public image but it’s an uphill struggle. Yes, he was a playmaker, but let’s face it - he was never going to be a great passer - he learned too many bad habits in college like relying on his feet rather than standing in the pocket and making the play, even if it means getting pancaked by a blitzing linebacker.

I think the head referee had a few bills bet on the Colts leading this game at the half. Refs took the game over 3mins into the second quarter and gave the MO back to the Colts. All this time I thought it was NFL policy to cheat in favor of the Colts ONLY when they are playing New England.

Regardless of where you stand on Michael Vick as a football player (it’s hard to argue he’s anything other than reprehensible as an actual human being), I highly doubt they would have beaten the Colts even if #7 were spending Thanksgiving on the field instead of in a jail cell. People can talk about the bad officiating, perceived lack of effort and whatever else, but the plain, uncomfortable truth is that the Colts are just the vastly superior team. They’re more talented, better coached and have the benefit of a veteran core of players that’s used to winning consistently throughout the past several years. Vick’s athleticism was phenomenal, but his win-loss record wasn’t exactly earning him comparisons to Peyton or Brady even before this dog scandal. His presence on the field might have meant a closer game, but I doubt it would have led to a Falcons win.

While I agree the penalty against Atlanta for roughing Indy’s punter was a bad call, I think it’s really deluded to claim that the Falcons woulkd have won the game if that call hadn’t been made. I mean, seriously…the score was 31-13. One poor call or even two or three can’t account for that defeicit. And keep in mind that Indy hardly threw the ball at all during the 4th Quarter, preferring just to run it and try to eat up the clock. Had they needed to to, I have no doubt they could have scored again. Every team has unfair calls go against them—-believe me, Colts fans can tell you about many times ridiculous calls have gone against Indy. The point is that some teams and fans use them as excuses, while others rally and still manage to do what they have to do to get the win.

Ahem. I would like to ask all of the Vick lovers out there one question. Would you still be so in love with this 2-bit criminal if he weren’t black? I love how all of these guys come on here spouting “racist” and “biggot” while being truly racist themselves with every Vick apology. The only reason you stand so firmly behind this guy is because he has the same skin color as you. If he were a white guy (or a Mexican or anything else) you wouldn’t give two craps about him even if he had been the same QB on the field. Give it a rest people. He is a convicted felon and no longer the Falcons QB. Nobody here ran him outta town, he did it to himself and in the process completely destroyed the Falcons. Oh, but he is black so I must be a racist……

I don’t know what everybody else thinks, but I watched the game and the Falcons could be better than average with a little training like a real NFL coach could give them. Let me sum this up very shortly because to do otherwise I would have to write a book, First of all: Joey Harrington is the the quarterback they need. I think he has done a better job than Leftwich and is capable of doing better with better coaching. The offence was’nt bad, but a good coach could cure that too. The defence STINKS. They need a lot of work and a few miracles would’nt hurt, and what hurts them most is their antics that they play after a mediocre play is accomplished. They act like they just won the Superbowl. When they can get laid back and focus on what they are supposed to do (with a capable coach) they may someday be a good team. Not the best, but good. THE KEY: Stop acting like a bunch of ten year old kids, stop trying to be the super athlete (that you are not!) and work as a team. Some of you are what I call LAM-Lams Look at me! Look at me! and we should be looking at em’ going somewhere else. Until this franchise recognizes what I am saying they will never be more than average or less. Fiurty one or two tears proves that but I think the biggest key is for the Falcons to get away from Atlanta. They don,t have fans here. They only have a bunch of transplants to ridicule everything they do, good or bad. They don’t weigh any of the problems, but if the Falcons don’t win THEY STINK. Arthur Blanc should see the picture and if he would get them out of here they might have some fans who are loyal and could give them some support! SUPPORT, a new word for the so called Falconsn fans.

I completely agree with you, Eric. Regardless of race, the guy is a sociopath who squandered an insane amount of both talent and money to indulge in his gross acts of stupidity. Meanwhile, the revisionist history is interesting—-now that he’s gone, people are acting like Vick was as successful a QB and as integral to the success of his team as Peyton or Brady. In reality, despite his athleticism, he wasn’t exactly raking in the wins.

Moral victory? Hardly. Granted, the Falcons did as well as could be expected (minus the spread-makers). They came out like hell-fire. Then, the penalty. And the turnovers. And more penalties, and more turnovers. Bad teams let the game set the tempo, while the good set the tempo for the game. Good teams make their own luck (Laurent Robinson fumble), and bad teams fall prey to luck, or lack there-of.

There is little doubt this team is better with Harrington, as opposed to the horse who can’t stop hurting his small ankles. No, we shouldn’t do what they do to horses who can’t walk, but we can put him out to pasture.

Hawaii…we need your QB.

One good thing about losing. At least we don’t have to watch Artie Blank parade around the sidelines late in games like th Jerry Jones wannabe he has turned out to be. Also, I remember when Artie talked about Mike Vick playing video games with his sons at Blank’s house. Even went as far as to say Mikey was sort of like a son to him. Wonder what Blank would do if one of his sons gets into trouble. Does he try to distance himself from him as swiftly as possible like he did Mikey???? JUST CURIOUS>>

I think it was a valiant effort by the Falcons. Most that ain’t in jail are hurt; the ones that ain’t hurt are green as granny’s spit cup. Most of our offensive linemen have no more NFL experience than Richard Simmons.

Vick, Vick, Vick! People, Vick is history! Bad History! whether he was a super player or not, he is no longer and never will be a part of the Falcons, PERIOD! If you are a so called Falcon Fan, then support them or keep your mouth shut. Joey Harrington is the quarterback and when they get their o-line the way they need it they will be O.K. The defence is another story. They need a coach. Leave Vick out of this. He is where he needs to be! And that is definately not HERE!

Evidently someone implied that the Falcons would have won the game if it had been officiated correctly. I certainly don’t believe that to be the case. I have, however, obcerved that when the Colts need a big play in a tough situation they can usually count on one guy to make the play. The first sign of incompetence is excuses. I finally figured it out. Mark Bradley is incompetent. He is as happy as a pig in mud that the Falcons lost by only 18 points. Notice how he reflects back to the Falcons of 18 years ago. Let’s face it; the Falcons are losers. Always have been. Always will be. Until Arthur buys the AJC and fire these flunkies who constantly write excuses for the underachieving bunch of losers. Let it be known, Leftwich stunk it up last week but it’s funny, I can’t seem to find any of YOUR (or much of anyone else’s) comments on Joey “Never-Had-A-Winning-Season” Harrington’s 45.8 passer rating & overrall inept performance from THIS WEEK’s game. It’s stupefying that Coach Petrino, et al continue to hold back Norwood in favor of Dunn, despite their weekly assertions that they intend to get him more involved in the game plan. Norwood is one of only a couple of a truly explosive players on the roster of perhaps the most offensively challenged team in the league. At this point in the season can the Falcons really believe that Dunn will suddenly light it up and return to his prime? Do they really believe he’s still the feature back for the future? For anyone else but Petrino, it would seem to be a no-brainer to go with your explosive player in the few games remaining and allow him to work on pass protection or other areas of weakness and see if he has the potential to be the feature back in 2008.

The low literacy rate on this blog, though not unexpected, is shocking! The average IQ of most of the people posting could not possibly be more than sixty. Why must football and intellect be mutually exclusive? It shouldn’t be but it certainly has that appearance from the paucity of salient commentary appearing here. Forget college matriculation, have any of you finished eighth grade successfully? What an abysmal assemblage of ignorance! By far, the worst of the sad lot are those immersed in the cult of Vick! You heap ignominy upon Harrington and fail to recall what an absolute failure the dog killer was. Humorously, most of your insulting remarks, even those of four letters or less, are misspelled. You characterize Vick’s six year, clandestine, organized criminality as a “mistake.” The mistake was in his thinking he could get away with it! When all else fails, you say he’s being persecuted and that his victims were, “just dogs.” Vick has pleaded guilty, is in prison and will be sentenced to a lengthy stay next month. You seem to think he’s being treated unfairly but I think it was the dogs, the Falcons, the NFL, the companies he represented and the fans who worshipped at his “Fathead’ who were mistreated- by him. You now, in patently racist form, have transferred your anger to Harrington, who had nothing to do with Vick’s fall, and your allegiance to the failure that is Byron, Ham Sammich, Leftwich. Face facts! Vick is gone, Leftwich is an escapee from a cigar store and Joey is the quarterback of the Falcons.

I just hope that since Dunn has achieved his “goal” of 10000 yards he will retire. Go build houses welfare mothers and allow a back who can break a tackle to take a few snaps PLEASE!!

  1. The Birds hosted the Colts at the Dome. Young Peyton Manning and Marshall Faulk jumped to a 21 point lead early on some long bombs. But.. the Falcons were the dominant team and went to work. My favorite memory of that game was when Jam got loose in the secondary and absolutely destroyed 3 DBs on his way to the end zone. We had a bruising back, a deep threat, a QB who could deliver the deep ball, Terrance over the middle and some freakin’ attitude and confidence.

Free Agent Wish list. Why? No one want’s to come here and play for the Atlanta Falcons. There is not enough talent. Plus how the Falcons treated Vick.
