NBA questions and answers

Mark Bradley

Audience participation time. I ask the questions. Feel free to answer any or all.

1.How many games will the Hawks win?

2.Will they make the playoffs?

3.Will either Al Horford or Acie Law IV be starting by season’s end?

4.Will Kobe Bryant get traded?

5.Will the Celtics win the East? If not, who will?

6.Will the Mavericks win the West?

7.If the Hawks get off to a bad start, will Mike Woodson be fired?

8.Who’ll play more minutes this season — Greg Oden or Speedy Claxton?

And now, because I’m generous that way, here are my answers, at least one of which might turn out to be correct.

1.and 2.They’ll go 46-36, which will earn them the East’s sixth seed.

3.Law will start before Horford, but both will be starting by January.

4.No. He’ll stay with the Lakers and lead the league in scoring and whining. He couldn’t play with Shaq, and now he realizes he can’t win without him. Fitting, no?

5.No. Too many egos, not enough championship know-how. I like the Bulls, who are much younger and much more cohesive.

6.Yes. Because it’s simply too boring to pick San Antonio again.

7.No, because ownership realizes the schedule is front-loaded — it will be no shock if the Hawks don’t lose a lot early — and that nothing would be gained by dumping Woodson after a month having gone this long with him already. Put another way, ownership views Woodson differently than it did Bob Hartley.

8.A tough one, given that Oden won’t play any at all. So I’ll go with Speedy, who should have two or three quarters in him before he hurts himself again.

I don’t think there are ego issues with Boston. All three stars are hungry and desperate enough to sacrifice their games in order to make a run. Although I’m not a Boston fan, I do want to see them go to at least the Eastern Conference Finals against a Chicago team led by one Kobe Bryant. In the West I like Phoenix to take on a surprising Denver squad. If Denver is not healthy, then of course SA will compete again for the crown.

  1. 41.
  2. Yes, as the #8 seed.
  3. Both, and by December, not year’s end.
  4. Yes, there’s no way the Lakers patch things up with him.
  5. Yes, they’ve got the most talent.
  6. No, Phoenix will.
  7. Depends on the definition of “bad start”. If we start 0-5, which is possible, it’s still too early to can him. If 0-5 turns into 5-20, then yes. But I don’t see that happening.
  8. Speedy.

First we have an idiot columnist telling the Braves to get Griffey for CF (he’s a right fielder, Terrence), and then we have Mark Bradley who DOESN’T EVEN READ HIS OWN PAPER. Sekou Smith is saying Horford’s going to start the opener tomorrow night. So, I’d say Horford will probably start before Law.

And for the guys posting “Who cares?” if you truly don’t care, why go through the trouble to post that you don’t? I don’t get that…

Once again AJC sports writers prove they are the worst in the nation. “Acie will start before Horford” he says. Horford is starting tonight you stupid moron! AJ will get the nod at the point while Acie will come off the bench. Geez! Could these Atlanta sports writers at least be required to read some sports wire 30 minutes a week!

Yesterday The great Terrance Moore wrote a column on how the braves should acquire griffey jr. to play centerfield. Only problem with that is JR. is 38 and doesn’t even play centerfield anymore! He has been in right field for a few years now. Unbelievable! Where do they find these clowns?
