10: OK, I’m confused. Is the sheriff who released Paris Hilton from prison because of some mysterious “medical condition” related to the Surry County DA who mostly ate Bon-Bons and watched Green Acres repeats during the Michael Vick investigation? Or is Hilton’s return to jail just another case of The Man being out to get famous white, blonde, basement-dwelling socialites?
9: So last week, Arthur Blank and Rich McKay sent a letter to Falcons season-ticket holders asking them to remain calm during the Vick investigation. On Friday, the balance on their accounts comes due. I’m sure that’s a complete coincidence.
8: I actually do feel for the Falcons being held hostage by this process. They don’t know if Vick will be available for 16 games or 12 or zero. That said, to feel the need to remind everybody in the letter about all of the Falcons’ community service projects and charity endeavors was unbelievably transparent.
7: Question: Do any of the ESPN or sportstalk radio talking heads have any idea the small percentage of their viewership/listeners who have HBO and actually watch the “Sopranos”?
6: Yes, I know about the baggage and potential health issues. But a lot of NFL teams would be nuts not to look at Daunte Culpepper as a potential starter.
5: For those who are starting to spread Ken Griffey-to-the-Braves rumors (again), I’d like to know your plan for adding an $8.44 million player to a payroll that presumably is frozen. Somebody has to come off the roster, and the team either can’t or won’t deal anybody in that salary range (Mike Hampton, Andruw Jones, Chipper Jones, Edgar Renteria, Tim Hudson, John Smoltz).
4: Also, stating the obvious here: If the Braves make a trade, it needs to be for starting pitching, not another bat.
3: Do we have to pick a side in the John vs. Sherrie Daly debate? Who’s less of a mess: The fat, drunk slob or the loving wife who spent five months in prison stemming from drug and gambling charges?
2: I’m sure the Orlando Magic realized it would’ve looked really bad if they didn’t offer to refund deposits for the 200-some people who bought season tickets, expecting Billy Donovan as coach. But still it was a class move to do so.
1: This just in: Paris Hilton says from prison that she’s “not that superficial girl” anymore, and she’s found God. Look, if Hilton really wanted to change her image, why not just show up for OTAs with a new haircut?

THANK YOU, JEFF! I have had it with Sopranos talk from EVERYONE. I know it’s a great show nad I watch it on Netflix, but for the love of Pete. People need to get over it. Braves 2 games back, Spurs killing the Cavs, Tigers killing the Mets, Federer vs Nadal, US Open … but you’d never know by watching ESPN. If Roger Clemens guest stars on the Sopranos … watch out for 24 hour coverage.

What is worse Espn talking about the Soparnos or Ajc talking about Paris Hilton?and whats the difference between watching the Soparanos and listing to “gangsta rap?”If Vick leaves I predict a siginifcant drop in attendance at the GA dome.I think Culpepper is done.But what is the hype about Trent Green?yeah he puts up good stats during the regular season,but what has he done in the playoffs?Vick has more playoff wins than Green!

Let me give you some news, the feds knew Mike Vick was involved in Dogfighting in 2004 when Thomas F weigner was shot and killed after a dogfight in Texas over $100,000. When the feds investigated the case in every city the only name that kept coming up was Mike Vick.

I dont know Jeff. At my office there are 57 employees. 45 of them saw The Sopranos and the other 12 had it Tivoed. It’s also important to note that the NBA finals ratings was lower than the Sopranos finale. The black screen was also a much bigger topic this week than the finals, tennis, or anything Braves related combined.

Whether you’re a MV7 supporter or not, it’s time to face the facts: once the Federal Government gets involved, it’s over.
Now that the Feds have gotten involved in MV7’s dogfighting hobby, it’s only a matter of time before he’s in court facing charges. The Feds don’t mess around, like the Surry County DA’s office. They’re pretty serious about interstate crime, racketeering, RICO - laws they bust people like Tony Soprano for.
Even if Vick manages to get out of this situation with a good team of lawyers, the NFL doesn’t care. Provide enough evidence and Goodell with ban MV7 from the league FOREVER.
This isn’t the post of a racist, but a realist. It’s time everyone joins reality and realizes MV7’s days are numbered as an employee of the NFL. I figure the only people dumb enough to support MV7 through his mediocre career are also dumb enough not to realize he’s about to go down…

Your comment is based on the fact that he is seeking evidence and truth in this case and refusing to join the I hate Mike Vick bandwagon.So we have two investigations going for a dog fighting case. What a waist of taxpayers money. I guess there aren’t enough murders and rapes to keep the federal law enforcement busy. This whole situation has become one big joke. What about all of the evidence collected from the property? Does this evidence link MV? Oh yeah, he owns the property… There are other witnesses (next door neighbors) who claim they haven’t heard any kind of dog-fighting related sounds coming from the property. They wont make good prosecution witnesses.
I don’t have the time to plug all the holes in this investigation against MV, but there probably is enough to investigate the people living at the house. Think about it, the cops initially went to the house to execute a drug warrant for MV’s cousin. They confiscated drug paraphernalia but to-date haven’t charged MV with it. Why you ask? Because they charged his cousin. Then why don’t they charge his cousin with dog-fighting? That is the question…
If MV has ever been involved in dog-fighting at this property, creditable eyewitnesses have to be produced. You’re not going to succeed with currently incarcerated individuals who are cutting deals to testify for a reduction in their sentence.

After all, that’s what the Feds do: they bring down criminals.
Mike Vick isn’t a “criminal” according to normal, municipal standards, but a criminal according to the standards of the federal government - that is, the RICO Act.
The RICO Act is the “nuclear weapon” of federal prosecutors, and they haven’t been afraid of using it since it came into existence. As a matter of fact, the Feds MUST use the RICO Act to rationalize both it’s and their existence.
Mike Vick will be yet another victim of the RICO Act.
If he would have just stayed out of interstate crime (dog fighting, gambling, that sort of thing) he wouldn’t be facing these problems. But, he didn’t, and now he faces a few years in the Federal Penitentiary System. You think you’re some kinda somethin’ don’t you? Talkin’ about people the way you do, you ought to be ashamed of yourself.
Mike Vick will reap what he sows. It doesn’t matter he’s black, or rich. If he’s accussed of breaking the law, he’ll be given a chance to defend himself. If he’s convicted he’ll go to jail. Yes, he is the face of the franchise. But he has not represented his team or the community he lives in very well. In fact, you could say he has brought a lot of pain to the black community by not living up to being a role model and by playing into stereotype behavior that the white community can use to say “see, told ya”. The bar is set by what is right and wrong, not what the community at large “thinks”.
His behavior has demonstrated he is not the champion of the community or for black QB’s for that matter. I think most black atheletes try to hold themselves to a higher standard and accept the responsibility of carrying the extra weight of making advances in the world for the brothers who come next. But Vick, He is no Warren Moon. He is no Doug Williams. He is not even a McNabb or a Culpepper in terms of how he carries himself off the field.
Young man, I hope you use your masters degree to go out and make a positive meaningful impact on the world. Just remember, that if you can’t climb the ladder to lofty heights, you can still do the work no matter what level your on. Corporate, public, day by day, hour by hour, you can make a difference by not perpetuating the hate. By turning the other cheek. By remebering that every one is a human being and they deserve to be treated with respect and dignity….
Unless they are a criminal, then they have no hard won rights anymore. They forfeit them. Everyone is not a victim, some people just act like it because they don’t know any better. Why don’t you show them the way?
No matter the outcome of the Vick saga, I’m still a Falcons fan and will still root for them. I agree with you that Harrington is not the answer. But that DJ Shockley…he’s special and could surprise everyone….in spite of the fact that he went to GA. ;)
In this world, you are not only accountable for your actions on the field, but off the field as well. It is a price to paid by everyone, black and white alike. It remains to be seen how damaged Mike is, or if the perception can be repaired. I say perception because he is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Unfortunately, he has been tried and convicted in the court of public opinion and this will ultimately be his undoing, guilty or not.

Your point is well taken. I am angry but I do not hate as this is self destructive. Just look at what racial hatred has done to people in the world..not just Atlanta.
I have not ignored the things that MV has done or not done. If he is guilty, then he must stand before the law and face punishment as may be requiired. Unfortunately, some people have declared him guilty before even being charged with any wrong doing. In days past, people were lynched under the same scenarios…. thus my anger. As for you breaking the news to me about other black folks, believe me when I say that blacks are not homogenous in our opinions about MV.
Also, assuming that you may be a white person, what gives you the authority or the knowlege to say that he(MV) must “shape up” to fit what you deem to be proper conduct. There are much worse things going on in our world than dog fighting, water bottles, pointed fingers and poor passing numbers. Oh, and try not to be so condenscending when you use such words as “uncle tom” and “ignorant”. I do have a brain that I put to use. Again, you are proving my point.

Zoldars, I’ll explain why I’m angry. I see Charlie has toned himself down a bit and i hate to stoop to some of your racist levels of thinking. Yes, I do believe if Vick is guilty, then he should be convicted, but alot of you caucasians are so quick to judge people before knowing whats going on. Like Magneto said, who gives white people the right to judge what is proper and what’s not? thats what makes me angry. And before you accuse me of a racist rant, I was reacting to your previous post with my initial post at 9:34 and I have never initiated ANY racist language against another race. I have run with no hearsay on this blog.
Truth is, I just don’t like to see a young brother with that racist attitude you displayed in your earlier posts and the way you were talking so I just wanted you to get a message.
Maybe I’ve said words against my own, but I can say it if I want right? That’s the double standard I’m talking about and thats the trouble! You can’t say….hey, it’s all right if I do it, but you other guys can’t do or say it. Life, humans, don’t work that way. The best we could do for our community is stop using the N word ourselves and show ourselves some respect. But hey, if somebody can make a buck by making a shock statement using the word, than they will if we let them. But we don’t have to buy in to that way of thinking do we?
But you were so enraged with your hatred you are blind to the message.
You can’t classify all whites the same, any more than you can say all brothers are the same! Look at what you have accomplished getting your masters and all compared to some other brother. You going to tell me your both the same? (OK, so I really do give my nephew credit for his degree, but he’s my nephew so I can call him a dumb a* if I want to).
And listen, Sense, you are not a bad a*. You think your bad, but your not. Same attitude you have gets young brothers killed every day, usually by each other. They think they are something they are not. Military training, or not, UFC, football, whatever sport you played, you bleed just like anybody, so the 1st thing you need to do is get over that before you get yourself seriously hurt. Take it from an old man who knows that eventually, your physical gifts will fade and in the long run, staying alive is more important than proving how macho you are.
2nd thing is quit acting like you know who you’re talking to on here, cuz you don’t jr.

It’s about time you made some sense. I can respect that. No, I don’t think I’m a bad a*, but I’m afraid of no one either. Quit acting like you’re so right. I read the lame remarks you made. I see that you may be black, which is fine and OK. Maybe you should say some prayers for yourself, because you’re just as wrong as everyone else on this blog. Like someone said earlier, IF the cousin got charged for the dope or guns or whatever, why wasn’t Vick, Charles Reamon Jr. (Co-owner of the house, media didn’t tell you that did they vanilla brains?), and/or Tony Taylor (owner/manager of the kennel, media didn’t tell you that either did they vanilla brains?) with the same crime? Why is it people are waiting for Vick to get charged, but none of these other people? ITS BECAUSE THAT B** KATHY STROUSE KNEW ALL IT TOOK WAS A LITTLE WHITE LIE (or 2) AND SHE AUTOMATICALLY HAD THE WHITE POPULATION IN HER HANDS BECAUSE YOU PEOPLE CAN’T THINK FOR YOURSELVES. She told lie after lie, (66 dogs in bad shape, etc., ended up 2 with problems, one of those a birth defect) and the white population ate it up. Add to the fact it was a black man that didn’t cahnge for white people, and that was icing on the proverbial cake. You people should really think harder sometimes, its all lies, noone is getting charged with anything.
