Today’s Final Four countown

Jeff Schultz

10: Never have sold my media credential. Never figured it was worth losing my job for. But for $12,000 …

9: Seriously, what would possess even the most diehard, lunatic, whackjob, Cheez Whiz-drooling fan to spend $12,000 for a ticket to the Final Four? Checked on StubHub. There’s a pair of floor seats on sale for $24,000, which actually is up from $22,000 the day before, maybe because gas also went up six cents.

8.: “Actually, there’s also a 10 percent service charge,” my new pal Dave said by phone. “So it’ll be $26,400 for the pair.” Do the tickets come with anything? Like a hot dog? Or a car? “I don’t think so,” Dave said. “But I can check with the sellers to see if that includes anything. But we can waive the $15 handling fee. So then you can buy the hot dog.”

7: Dave would not tell me who originally held the tickets. So I really can’t say for a fact that it’s Phil Fulmer.

6: A company called “ZipWay” announced its new break-away warm-up pants have a “technologically advanced zipper” that allow athletes to remove the pants in “a matter of .3 seconds.” The pants have been endorsed by the NBA Players Association, and Shawn Kemp.

5: Look, I don’t think Billy Donovan will leave Florida for the Kentucky job, either. And I’m not saying he should. But if you don’t get why a coach would even consider it, then you don’t get coaches.

4: Is the Florida job better than the Kentucky job? No. But football always will be No. 1 at Florida. Basketball always will be No. 1 at Kentucky. For some coaches, it’s about ego. And if Donovan perceives (operative word) that he can be even bigger at Kentucky than Florida — and if that’s important to him — then of course he’ll think of making the jump.

3: Yes, Donovan would have a limited honeymoon period in Lexington, just like Tubby Smith. But that same win-or-you’re-bupkus attitude that makes the Kentucky fan base insufferable also makes the job bigger.

2: Went to the Gainesville Sun home page online. Hey, look what I see:

Video: Monday’s Florida football practice

“The Gator football team takes to the practice field, and a UF student comments on the upcoming season during Monday’s training.”

1: Former UCLA coach John Wooden, 96, will be in Kentucky this weekend for a function. Go ahead. Start the coaching rumor.

8:20 PM and you’re still a NO TALENT HACK!!! So does digging at some kids who didn’t ask to have a “Deadbeat for Daddy” make you feel like a big man Schultz? Didn’t think about the kids when you wrote that cheap joke did you? Oh Tom Brady’s zygote says: “Daddy has those pants too!” Oh Larry Wayne’s little girl asked why you had to talk about her daddy like that?

Well, the “Frozen Four” is set. Boston College vs. North Dakota and Maine vs. Michigan State. Can’t wait for April 5th. Maybe BC won’t have to wait another 41-years for a NCAA Men’s Division I hockey championship. Though, I doubt they’re favorites this year.

I had Georgetown in my brackets. At least that one’s still alive. :)

Funny stuff (as usual), Jeff. (I thought this was where we would respond to what Jeff said, not throw cheapshots and to talk about the NCAA Hockey Final Four.)

Anyway, I think anybody who has a decent job at a major conference school would be a fool to leave for the Kentucky job, but like you say, Jeff, coaches will be coaches and will always consider ANY HIGHER OFFER. In fact I think in some cases they will consider any offer.

Kentucky will have a tough time finding a fit.

As far as the NCAA Men’s Basketball Final Four is concerned, I think Florida will defeat UCLA, but I think it will be very close. I pick Ohio State over Georgetown, but again I think it will be close. Both games are really good matchups. It’s kind of cool to exclusively have 1 and 2 seeds in the “real” Final Four.

Later.

At the risk of many names I will be called——I wondered, does anyone know what percentage of felony crimes are committed by black people?

Blacks represent 13% of the national population and are responsible for more than half of the felony crimes committed. This is ok with you I guess?

Don’t believe me. Look it up, its right there in statisical form, or turn on the news at six any damn day and the first five stories are black crimes.

I’m black and have been convicted of a felony. And I like those tear-away pants.

Magneto’s nuumber are way off Sierra… What you want to look at are 2005 Expanded Offense Information statistics which are collected by the FBI and the Department of Justice. Don’t let anyone tell you that 2006 numbers exist, they don’t, they’re still being tabulated. It is more like this in the catergories that calculate felonies involving violent and crimes of harm, it is 52%. Of that 70% are Black-on-Black crimes. The use of felony is not a good indicator: it cuts off very harmful so-called victimless crimes (an oxymoron) like high dollar white collar crimes and larency. Here’s the link to the FBI data: http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/05cius/offenses/expanded_information/index.html

And Jeff Schultz is still A NO TALENT HACK!!!

JSS,

I think Sierra is more concerned with crimes that actually affect us every day, not once or twice every 3 or more years. I seriously doubt you lock your door every day because you’re afraid someone is going to commit larceny on you.

The question as posed was FELONIES, I chose to expand and put proper perspective on what that constitutes. It is not just violent offenses. Moreover, the racial data does not add up to 86% or anything remotely close. Still the majority of the crime committed and which takes up most of the time of legal system are LARCENCIES. The reason most lock their doors, purchase security systems (home, car, and business) is help deter just that, LARCENY. Tha’s the set of crimes that effect people on a daily basis in this country… It is a gateway crime, it always has been. Look, violent crime has never accounted to more than 30% of criminal activity anywhere in this nation. Now, the U.S. is nearing that number for the first time, and no amount of jail or prison building seems to be deterring that. So good luck with building all of those jails Sonny and Jim Wooten…

Oh, it is 2:44PM, JEFF SCHULTZ * is still *A NO TALENT HACK!!!
