Trust me: Gators can’t lose
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
With the start of the NCAA Tournament just a day away, let’s return to what I wrote in this space on February 28.
Why? It still applies.
My words then …
“The team to beat heading into March Madness hasn’t changed. Ignore the other stuff. Those three losses during its last four games. Shaky or no defense. Turnovers, turnovers, turnovers. Even so, you still have to take Florida to win the national championship in men’s basketball over everybody else. Here are the five reasons why: Joakim Noah, Taurean Green, Corey Brewer, Al Horford and Lee Humphrey. They were the starters when the Gators won it all last season, and they remain the starters today.”
Now that the NCAA Tournament brackets are out, Florida looks even more set to dribble deep into March as the No. 1 seed in the Midwest Regional. The Gators won’t have a tough go of it until a possible meeting with No. 2 seed Wisconsin in the regional finals.
Take Florida in that one.
Then the Gators would begin the Final Four in Atlanta against possibly UCLA, the No. 2 seed from the West Regional.
Go with Florida again.
In fact, until proved otherwise, go with Florida in the championship game against North Carolina, Ohio State, Central Connecticut State or whoever comes out of the other side of the bracket.
Go with Florida, period.

CAN’T??? Sure Terence. No possible way they lose. You might as well book it. There are no other capable teams.
You are a pathetic fool. The AJC is a disgrace, and you are a disgrace. You are an ignoramus.

In most cases I would agree with you, that you have to choose the defending champ until they are knocked out, but no this time Mr. Moore. Few things; if Arizona gets past Purdue they have just as much talent and athleticism to match up and beat Florida. Maryland in the sweet 16 has played solid basketball as of late. And if Wisconsin gets to the elite 8 they play a very physical, tough defense. And then they play UCLA, or Kansas (who has already beaten them) There is a reason no one can repeat is because even back then when Duke did it there was parity, and now with the mid-majors there is even more parity. So I’m taking the field on this one my friend

All I can say is, there’s a reason the games aren’t played on paper.

Trust me, Terence: anyone CAN lose, the question is WILL THEY? I bet you were one of the many that said Georgetown CAN’T lose in the ‘85 Finals, or UNLV in 1991, right? Yeah, that’s what I thought! I’ll put it to you like this: the minute I start trusting you is the day you’ll start wearing a white hood on your head.

Terence,
Aren’t you the same moron who said that up 2-0 in the 1996 World Series, there was no point in playing the rest of the series?
To put stuff like this in print, you must be a major moron. And, of course, you are. Please let us know when you are leaving Atlanta.

TM … Are people always this mean to you? What’d you do to them? The Gators are the favorites no doubt, but repeating is just so rare these days.
I’m leaning toward G’Town over the Gators in the Finals. Any thoughts?
The rest of you need to relax .. quit hatin’ as the cool kids say.

Hey Brandon, Did notice how Michael came with an intelligent argument to support his postion? Did you notice how he was able articulate it without sounding like a 4th grader(Gaytors??? Come on, grow up).

Florida can and will lose. They are the team with the target on their backs this year — don’t underestimate that. Every team will bring their A-game against the Gators, and someone’s bound to defeat them, especially since college basketball as a whole is more talented this year than last year. I have them losing in the Elite 8.

I guess “love” is also implying that Black Panthers SHOULD read his articles.

Can’t lose? There is always a possibility but there is no other team with more team play. There are individuals that may be better than a single Gator, but no one with a team to match the Gator team as a whole. Go Gators.

Hey BadgerDawg…this might surprise you but I am white.
Nothing racial was implied in my post but I do get tired of reading those types.
Did the term REDNECK stike a nerve?
It’s simple.
If you REDNECKS (sorry to offend) don’t like the man, then don’t click the freakin link.
Before anyone else misunderstands my post, I guess I have to admit I don’t REALLY love Mr. Moore.
I’ve never met the man.
I just decided that name would get people’s attention.
I guess it worked.

Thank you, Terence. I was really worried that the hated Gators would repeat this year. Now that you said they can’t lose, I know they will. Let’s face it, you have never been right before so I see no reason for you to start now.
