The Tuesday Countdown
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
10: Deion Sanders brokered the peace process between Terrell Owens and DeAngelo Hall. He hopes to work his way up to Israel and Hamas.
9: Deion Sanders (along with Marshall Faulk), by the way, pretty much accused Michael Vick of quitting on the Falcons when he left the Dallas game with a minute remaining down by two scores after suffering a groin strain. This after Vick threw four touchdown passes to keep his team in the game. Thought you’d be interested in that insight.
8: Deion Sanders - peace broker? Is this the same guy who got into a slap fight with Andre Rison during pass coverage, then raised his hands in mock victory? Is this the same guy who went through his athletic career with an it’s-all-about-me attitude. So far as I know, he never spit on anybody, but some of his actions screamed as much. And he’s teaching others about class?
7: Something is wrong when Joe Johnson is sixth in the NBA in scoring and he’s only ninth among Eastern Conference guards in All-Star voting.
6: If you’re a Knicks fan, are you upset if David Stern decides to suspend Isiah Thomas? Or do you just change the locks while he’s gone?
5: Whether you agree or disagree with the fines and suspensions levied by Stern, he is acting the way a commissioner is supposed to act. As opposed, to say, the muppet running baseball.
4: Tom Brady apparently has broken up with Bridget Moynihan. I know this because I went to ESPN.com, looking for hockey scores. This apparently is considered such a big deal that ESPN.com’s page 2 is running a poll on who should be Tom’s next girlfriend. I voted for Dan Patrick.
3: I lived in the Bay Area and covered Stanford for two years. Academic-roadblocks notwithstanding, it should be one of the best jobs in the country. But if you believed Greg Knapp was a bad candidate, how about the guy Stanford ended up hiring: Jim Harbaugh. He has never coached or recruited at the 1-A level (he has been coaching at 1-AA University of San Diego) and last year had a DUI arrest. Congrats Jim. Now go Beat USC.
2: Ten bucks says somebody turns down the Alabama job to take the San Diego job.
1: Got an e-mail Monday asking me to participate in a conference call today to learn about “one of the most significant announcements in Arena Football League history.” Can somebody monitor it for me?

What about Deion saying (in response to Vick taking himself out of the game)that he never took himself out of a game when his team mates depended on him. He ought to apologize to Tim McCarver and the Atlanta Braves after saying that.

I think Tim McCarver got just what he deserved….no players made an issue of his double duty why should anyone else…I get tired of journalists taking pot shots at athletes an nothing is said….report the stories and be objective.

How could T O spit on Hall? From what I saw Hall was never even close enough to T O to get spat on. T O was outrunning him by 10 giant steps…he must be able to hark that luggie 20 feet or more to hit Halls slow butt.

Wow, Deion Sanders defuses a situation that could have gotten more out of control than most people who read this type of medium can ever imagine. Please read that statement again and just trust me when I tell you this fact. “Blessed is the peacemaker”. Deion is a much different guy these days (years actually) than many people are aware. Good work Deion! Regarding his comments, both he and Marshall Faulk said that they would not have left the game. They spoke hypothetically regarding what their own actions would have been.

Oh, I thought the ten count today would be the number of days left with Mora as coach, but that’s twelve.

Deion needs to get a life. He’s such a hypocrite. He criticizes players that have twice the heart he ever had! Remember this was the same PUNK that while he used his speed to be a great cover guy, he would not and could not tackle. He’s also the same guy that got on stage with TD Jakes and told the world that he is a changed man and that “Prime Time” is dead, all the while flailing his arms and showing the “PRIME TIME” label in his suit jacket. Get real.

ESPN.com runs hockey articles? You found one?
Okay, that was a cheapshot. Especially since one of the best hockey writers in North America freelances at that site, Scott Burnside. I really should go check out what Burnside is writing about the Thrashers lately. Time to kick some Devils b*tt tonight in Jersey.
Hey, I said it in preseason, Jeff. The Thrashers might be the only Atlanta-based pro team to make the playoffs this year. The Thrashers are about 52-points away from clinching a 1st-ever playoff berth. At this point, I’d gladly “settle” for that.

Ya know, Jeff, if I were Tom Brady, I’d probably go for Scarlett Johansson. The movie star bombshell and two-time MVP and 3-time Super Bowl champion Quarterback? The media would have a collective orgasm. Now quick, Jeff, come up with a “quickie” nickname for the couple?
Does “Tomson” work? Or does “Scrady” fit better?

Marshall Faulk is a hater..whenever he discusses the falcons he never has anything good to say..he doesn’t like Vick because I think he secretly wishes he had his mobility and maybe he wouldn’t have gotten his knee banged up….plus…we beat them the last two times we played him and his team in the playoffs…there’s no merit in waht he has to say regarding the falcons…he’s just mad because he won’t get another chance to lose against the falcons…

Oh yeah, I’m sure Deion could high-step his way to the end-zone with a strained hammy. It’s easy to sit in the booth and talk about what you would’ve done if you had that injury. Just because your regarded as the best at your position ever does not give you the right to judge another man about his injuries. What was Mike supposed to do, stay in there and tear it scrambling to try and win the game and end up missing the last two games? Whatever.

Jeff, Jeff, Jeff…
Do your home work. Bob Bowlby is the new AD at Stanford that hired Jim Harbaugh. He was the AD at Iowa who hired Kirk Ferentz whose only head coaching experience was div. 3 level. Bowlsby has more insight on coaches than the average sports fan and it seems you too.

Who really thinks Neon Sanders would have anything of value to say about class. He was here (at Flowery Branch)training Me Hall how to talk even more trash & fight with his own teammates. Good job, Neon. Really, why was this traitor to the Falcons organization allowed to influence the orgs current players. I say traitor based on his comments about Falcons after his departure.

Come on Deon (prime time)how can you say that about Vick when the guy gave 100% plus to WIN. Further more we still can make the play off if we win the next two games(not without Vick). As a fan and you are not, I rather see Vick healthy for the next two games. Have you forgot when you could not play because of the TOE and you said that you know your body and will play when you know you can play. Marshall just shut up! you are a hater.

First off, marshall and deion said that they wouldn’t have come out of the game with the game still on the line. Down down with 2 minutes left, yes the game is still in doubt. Second, vick didn’t look in to much pain after the game, nor on the bench just chillin at the end of the game. Nor did he look in pain walking around talking to cowboys after the game. Thirdly, he seemed to be more concerned about his personal stats after the game then the fact that he lost the game. He was quoting his touchdown passes and was all happy and ecstatic about the rushing record. He basically said that is all he works for. Finally, marshall and deion ride down the elevator with arthur blank and blank yells at them for saying something negative about vick. He is the most babied player in the league. If his groin injury is so serious I suspect he won’t play this week, however, it appears its not “that bad” and he’s good to go. Lets see if he bails out on his team just like he did last week and last year against, who else, but the panthers.

As for D-Hall being a punk,I don’t think so. It takes a bigger man to keep cool after something like that happens. It’s good to forgive, but let’s not forget. Who knows, we might have to play these guys again.

Football is fast on its way to having all the class, professionalism, sportsmanship, teamwork, and character of professional wrestling. I was going to say as the NBA, but I don’t think the NFL has hit rock bottom yet. Maybe when this year’s Univ of Miami players get drafted.

Hall should be embarrased that he let T.O. spit on him and not kick his behind—there would havebeen a fight and that would have been a lot more exciting than the game was. If a punk spits on you, you better knock the hell out of him! And everyone would applaud you forkicking his butt…now the rest of the league and the fans think just how soft Hall really is!

spitting on someone is disgusting for deion but doing what deion did to mccarver is a-okay? well, whatever. they were both vile, disgusting acts. but i did really enjoy what he did to mccarver because I hate mccarver. but i also read an article in the new york post from october where deion still could not find it in his heart to say sorry and that he may have been wrong with the way he went about that thing with that blowhard prick McCarver. BUT now he is Mr. Morality and is going to tell people how to be a real man. I still hear McCarver taunting Deion afterwards with that infamous, “You’re a real man Deion. YOu’re a real man Deion.” The problem is that Deion still is not a real man, the kind of man who admits wrongdoing, even when he has to admit doing wrong to someone like McCarver who deserves what he got. After all these years, if Deion is going to tell TO how to behave and apologize, don’t you all think he should first apologize for what he did to mccarver? who cares? marshall faulk, didn’t he quit on his team every year during the last 6 years of his career. how many games did he miss during his last 6 years? alot!!! sure, he got old and injured but alot of that was injured pride by marshall in that Martz was gradually phasing him out of the offense for what knows what friggin reason. Before you all scream for Martz to come in here, remember that he had one of the greatest offensive weapons in the history of football in faulk and he could not find a way to effectively use when he became the HC during the last 6 years of Marshall’s career

Wow !!! some people never forget. I think Deion Sanders has grown up alot hopefully so has Tim McCarver. I think it makes sense for both gentlemen that Deion brokers a peace treaty. These dudes are not each others enemy.I am inclined to believe that it could have been an accident. No videotape and From the reaction of Falcons after the game make me think DeAngelo was being to emotional. I don’t think this incident should overr-shadow a very entertaining game.

Unlike some I will commend Deangelo Hall for not retaliating when T.O. spit on him. Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ tells us to turn the other cheek, well that is what Deangelo has done.
Some say Hall’s actions made him a punk but I disagree. Deangelo’s response was the response of a REAL man and a good Christian.
God Bless you Deangelo.

I think we’ve all decided that DHall is a punk. Deion is retired punk, and M.Faulk is a has been. Shaub is not starting, so leave it alone.
Am I the only one that notices that when a player gets beat (or beaten), that his reaction is call the other player out. Something has changed; a few years ago that if you got beat, you shut up and went back to the huddle.
Let’s not leave out NY Knicks coach Thomas, who is an old punk. He never got over the fact that Magic and Bird was better than him. He used to cry to ESPN how he got left when talking about the best player of that generation.

The NFL doesn’t have punks and thugs. The NFL is nothing but a bunch of spoiled brats. They remind me of little girls fighting, talking about each other, making up, fighting some more, and whining to who ever will listen. Worse, have you noticed the skipping? When the hell did grown men - professional athletes - start jumping and skipping like little girls? The moronic end zone dancing and bobble head crap was bad enough, but jumping and skipping? Get them a jump rope and off the field. Any real punk or thug would be embarrassed to be associated with the NFL.

Deion Sanders calling out Vick for not playing with a strained groin? Maybe if Neon Deion had actually made physical contact once or twice during his time in the NFL he might have suffered an injury too. Must be the moooneeeeeeeyyy….
Joe Johnson is 9th among Eastern Conference guards in All-Star voting because the Hawks fans who are supposed to vote for him don’t exist.

Dear Judge Jeff. Get the heck off the throne that clearly does not belong to you. Since Deion Sanders became a Christian he is a very different person. I know I sure am. You’re judging a guy based on his behavior a decade ago. He is definitely not the same person. By the way, Vick did quit on his teammates. Remember when McNabb BROKE his anke and continued to play and had one of the best games of his career. I wish Vick would quit for good. He has enough money now he can start his own hip-hop label. Then he can hire people more like himself such as Ricky Williams, Maurice Clarett (when he gets out, of course) and Mike Tyson. All of these guys were just like Mike - flashes in the pan that finally burned out. Vick is burning out and the sooner, the better, for the Falcons and the NFL.

Vick has all the maturity of a two-year old, and Hall was acting like my four-year old grandson: “He spit on me, he spit on me.” The Falcons are just a bad soap opera or an unruly preschool.

I was at the game and I have to say that the 38 points had a lot more to do with teh loss than anything Michael Vick did durring the game. Dude passed for 237 yards, threw four TD’s, and a 67% completion percentage. What the Hell else do you expect him to do?
I think if yopu want to complain about an over paid player who is hurt all the time maybe you guys should make John Abraham your target. You guys sign him to big bucks and he has spent most of the year on the bench with his own hurt groin. He probably had more to do with those defensive melt downs than Vick.
