The guide to Tech, Georgia fans

Mark Bradley

Herewith we present the seventh installment of the almost-annual Field Guide to Tech and Georgia Fans. Read on and see if you recognize yourself. Or your idiot neighbor.

• Tech fans hope to see a victory in Jacksonville next week. Georgia fans hope to see a victory in Jacksonville again this century.

• The Tech fan’s biggest fear: Matthew Stafford has three more years of eligibility. The Georgia fan’s biggest fear: Reggie Ball is about to complete his eligibility.

• Tech fans wouldn’t trade Jon Tenuta for all of Georgia’s assistant coaches combined. Georgia fans would.

• Tech fans worry that their program’s worst-in-the-ACC graduation rate will sully the Institute’s image as an academic school. Georgia fans worry that concern over their program’s worst-in-the-SEC graduation rate will turn UGA into an academic school.

• Tech fans refer to Georgia as “UGAG.” Georgia fans refer to Bobby Dodd Stadium as “U-G-L-Y.”

• Tech fans really like their new athletics director. Georgia fans really liked their old athletics director.

• Tech fans are happy with the way Mansfield Wrotto has represented the Institute on and off the field. • Georgia fans are happier when Joe Tereshinski III does his representing off the field.

• Tech fans believe AJC endorsement of their team is long overdue. Georgia fans believe the AJC should be run by Sonny Perdue.

• The Tech fan’s favorite memory of Georgia’s season: Kentucky tearing down one set of goalposts. The Georgia fan’s favorite memory of Tech’s season: Clemson’s backs tearing through Tenuta’s defense.

• Tech fans believe this is the Jackets’ best chance of beating Georgia since the year 2000. Georgia fans believe this is Tech’s last chance to beat the Bulldogs until the year 3000.

• Tech fans are starting to reassess their opinion of Chan Gailey. Until the Bulldogs won at Auburn, Georgia fans were starting to reassess their opinion of Mark Richt.

• Tech fans are distressed when the ball is thrown to anyone other than Calvin Johnson. Georgia fans are distressed when the ball is thrown to any receiver who’s apt to drop it, which is to say any receiver on the roster.

• For once, Tech fans are excited about recruiting. As ever, Georgia fans are more excited about recruiting than about their actual team.

• Tech fans love to hear the band strike up the Budweiser song after the third quarter. Georgia fans hated it when Michael Adams tried to strike down the widespread consumption of Budweiser on game days.

• Tech fans wish their team would make more field goals. Georgia fans wish Vanderbilt had missed that field goal.

• The Tech fan’s favorite Hall: KaMichael. The Georgia fan’s favorite Hall: Butts-Mehre Heritage.

• The Tech fan’s worst-case scenario: The Chick-fil-A Bowl. The Georgia fan’s best-case scenario: The Chick-fil-A Bowl.

• Tech fans will celebrate the 100th birthday of Bobby Dodd Stadium in 2013. Georgia fans did not celebrate when Tennessee hung half a hundred on the Sanford Stadium scoreboard.

• Some Tech fans cringe when influential booster Taz Anderson criticizes the program. Some Georgia fans cringed when influential booster Don Leebern set up housekeeping with the gymnastics coach.

• Tech fans enjoy seeing the Rambling Wreck motor onto the field. Georgia fans would rather drink motor oil than see the Jackets celebrate between the hedges Saturday.

Mark,

Too bad you, TM and the rest of the gang at the worst paper in town (Oh, wait a minute you’re the only paper in town) have to write CRAP like this to get the Dawgnation to pay attention.

You’re a hack! You should have stuck with the perm. At least you would have still looked the part.

Tech fans consume wine and cheease at tailgate parties. UGA fans consume, pabst blue ribben and grilled spam.

Tech graduates work for NASA (True story)

UGA graduates are lucky to get a job with NAPA (Auto parts)

Tech has a business school where you can get a degree in marketing, which could lead to a job as a high Tech computer software sales person.

UGA has a business school where a degree in marketing could lead to a job working at the McDonalds drive thru.

Christian, man re-read, he said our biggest fear is that this is Reggie’s LAST YEAR! I agree, stay around Reggie. don’t go. Tech fans don’t have to worry. Matthew will only be around 2 more years then he’ll play on Sunday but by then, Logan Gray will step in. ajc.com headlines have been a strong promo of the “bugs”. Oh well, Dawgs by 15 and Stafford 2 TDs passes maybe a 3rd.

jacketnation…no reasonable Dawg fan will claim this to be a great season (see Vandy, UK), but the USC game was also a good game (any shutout against a bowl-bound team, on the road, is a good win). Also, congrats on pulling out the win against UNC, but that was not a good game. Before you get too giddy and excited the first relevant season in recent memory for the Jackets, remember that you will likely end up with as many or more losses this year than the Dogs. We will beat you and whoever we play in the waste management bowl, and you’ll lose your final three games of the. Another 5 loss season in ATL!!

Jimmy Carter, former GA govenor and President of the United States, was a nuclear Engineer graduate from Tech. He was also a navel admiral on a Nuclear Powered Sub.

I know you guys are proud of your fat bald, crooked land dealing, tax evading (passed a bill to save his self 100,000.00) govenor. He had one of our wildlife management areas sold, the 20,000 acre Oaky Woods area. THis land was bought and paid for by the hunters and fisherman in this state.

We don’t want to lay claim to producing crooks like Perdue or that crook that became the Olympics director. He got caught with his hand in the cookie jar as well.

I am sick and tired of hearing UGA fans talk about their coeds. Most of them end up with Tech guys anyways. I’ve got 3 good college friends that married UGA coeds. I guess the UGA alumna are smarter than I thought. They know which degree is more valuable.

Oh and what is this about David Pollack turning down an invitation to the Playboy mansion. There was also that cast member on the Real World who was a UGA alumnus. Maybe you should add a couple of more colors to your school and uniform. Red, black, yellow, blue, and green to form a rainbow. You might want to consider adding another letter to UGA*.

Methinks jacketnation has some serious issues to work on. I hope Tech DOES win the ACC. It’ll be all the more hilarious when Boise State hands you your 4th loss.

And I wondered how long it would be before the “fire your a*” post came up from some nerd. I guess when you get your a* handed to you every year you have to dream of firing someone else’s.

Wonder if your brilliant student athletes cough will be able to figure out that the big 4 means you can’t through the ball away this year?

In response to the UGA fan who said UGA alum go on to med school. I also had several college friends who went on to some well known Med Schools. I would be willing to wager that there are just as many or more Tech majors in biology, chemistry, chem eng, or bio-eng who go on to better med schools and practices than UGA folk.

Let’s just face it, that UGA degree might as well say University of Phoenix on it. Let’s just save the GA taxpayer’s money, tear/shut down the Athens campus, and turn UGA into an internet school.

It is common for coordinators to leave for head coaching positions. But O’Leary left Tech for another head coaching job, because any coach would leave a mid-major type of program for a dream job like Notre Dame. Tech is a stepping-stone job to get to places like Georgia and Notre Dame.

A great line Mark Bradley. I see many doggie fans berating you and Tech, but I don’t see any arguments for the statement above. I saw a reference to the ACC being “watered down”, but as I posted elsewhere, ACC and SEC both have 5 teams in the top 25 of BCS, AP and USA Today polls. And UGA isn’t in any of them!!!

That article just shows how pathetic the UGA football program is. Year after year they rank in the top 5 for recruiting. Year after year they are a pre-season top 10. They lead all colleges with the most NFL players. They promote themselves as a powerhouse. Yet they haven’t even gotten a sniff at the national title game in recent years. That coaching staff wastes so much talent.

Are all of you little girly men text messagers (LMAO, LOL, etc) who keep bringing up Kentucky and Vandy going to say that you are WORSE than them? After all, they can beat UGA and you can’t.

It’s a shame that Boise State will be punished for their good season by playing an ACC “champ” who is barely (if at all) in the top 20.

And by the way, everyone says the Big Least should lose their automatic bid a few years ago after Miami, BC and VT left. Considering that they have 3 more top 15 teams than the ACC, shouldn’t we be asking the same question about the Anti Competitive Conference?

No national championship contender this millenium. The ACC Champ should be awrded with something more appropriate, like a trip to Chattanooga for the I-AA championship game.

Hey swampdog, So you prefer men, huh? I’ve heard most of you DAWG fans do, and yes, you can squeal like a pig, as you will after Saturday. You’ve probably never been to Athens, so just stay home, pluck yer banjo while sitting on the ole’ bandwagon!

The rumors about Jan Kemp being the mother of UGA’s pups is simply not true.UGA wouldn’t do her with my dik. CMR guarantees a win over Tech and is willing to put up a nite with his favorite cousin if he loses. Stop it !!! his cousin is NOT his wife !!

Lets get something straight…

UGA has better women. Tech grads end up marrying them.

Athens is a great college town. Atlanta is a great city.

UGA has had a better football team lately. Tech has a better basketball team.

UGA has hicks and hippies. Tech has nerds.

Sanford stadium holds 90,000+ people. Bobby Dodd holds 55,000 (but none of them have mullets, wear jean shorts, and all have graduated high school, college, and more than likely, from GaTech.)

UGA produces more governors (although no one mentions whether they are good…I mean, Harvard/Yale produced G.W. Bush). Tech produces CEOs.

UGA has a nice campus. Tech has WAY better facilities.

UGA has a cool logo that they borrow from Green Bay. Tech has a cool logo that is unique.

UGA’s fight song is the same as UTexas. No one’s fight song is better than Tech’s.

What is the game that UGA plays in Jacksoville called? Budweiser song, every game, every fourth quarter.

UGA’s governor is concerned about headlines in the AJC. Tech’s wide receiver is concerned about the less fortunate in South America.

Whoever on the board posting positive things about UGA and negative things about Tech, may or may not have gone to UGA/college. Whoever on the board posting positive things about Tech and negative things about UGA, they either are at Tech, will go to Tech, or have graduated from Tech.

For many UGA students/alumni, UGA is/was their top choice. For most Tech students/alumni, UGA was their last resort.

UGA is dumb. Tech is smart.

TO HELL WITH GEORGIA!

Can you argue with that?

You COULD argue with that. Or you could just sit back and enjoy Tech fans advertising their slobbering stupidity in public.

And the most bitter techie comment award goes too……

“I am sick and tired of hearing UGA fans talk about their coeds. Most of them end up with Tech guys anyways.”

Hahahahahahahahahahahah thanks for the belly laugh nerd. I have never seen more bitterness in my life then from tech fans this year. BTW I hate to break it too you but you are 2 point underdogs and guess what…. you are going to lose yet again, sorry. Just save yourselves the misery, put the yellow and black clown wig in the closet, cancel the trip to athens, and pick up where you left of on everquest Saturday afternoon. Trust me, you will have a better time. Dawgs Roll yet again!!!

I think the above poster also sat back and watched Vandy and Kentucky advertise Mark Richt’s stupidity in public.

He’ll also watch Richt advertise all of the Tech fans stupidity who pay to watch their “champs” get slaughtered Saturday.

This article was stupid for both sides. Can we get a little newsworthy analysis of the game Saturday, please? We argue enough about the stereotypes.

Did Joe Hamilton ever play a down when he was actually academically qualified? For all the TALF about academics, Tech doesn’t WALK a single step.

Lying and cheating and playing ineligible players…. wonder who they’ll slip in there tomorrow?

Will Yech have an interstate drug dealers playing on Saturday? Is that what all you losers mean by Yech CEO’s?
