Auburn, Jackets, Falcons will roll

Before unveiling this week’s lead-poop locks from our team of insiders, who have been so inside of late that apparently even our projected winners are oblivious, this financial update:

The India city of Patna is trying to remedy its problem of deadbeat taxpayers by hiring, and I’m not making this up, a collection team of 20 eunuchs. (Why do I sense everybody just dropped their newspaper and lowered their hands into a protective position?)

Well, it turns out that eunuchs, according to an Associated Press story, “often make a living on tips for dancing at weddings and blessing newborn babies, and are believed to be stubborn and do not take no for an answer.” Because, like, what else could you possibly do to them?

Collections have been so successful that Patna is planning to recruit even more eunuchs. The expansion plans coincide with the resignation of Donald Rumsfeld and massive Republican losses in Congress, although that might just be coincidence.

I bring this up for two reasons: 1) If you followed some recent investment advice, the good news is that you don’t have a tax problem, though you could develop “eunuch issues” if this continues; 2) There is absolutely nothing interesting to say about the Georgia-Auburn game.

Auburn is favored by 13 points. I’m not sure about organs.

The Trembling Chihuahuas have lost four of their past five, and the only win came over Mississippi State. They were so bad last week that Kentucky fans stormed the field afterward and tore down a goal post, resulting in the school being fined $5,000 by the SEC. (The fine could increase to $50,000 if there’s another violation before 2009. Fortunately, Kentucky is not due to win another SEC game until 2010.)

At 6-4, the Dogs are bowl-eligible only because of a win over 1-AA Western Kentucky. But bowl-eligible and bowl-guaranteed are two different things. Thought you’d want to know that before they finish 6-6 and head to the Eunuch Bowl.

Tech at Yech: Nice homecoming game for North Carolina. Tech is about to clinch an ACC title-game berth, and John Bunting is watching game tape on a projector on a TV tray in the hallway, because Butch Davis is redecorating the office. Feel the love. Factoid: Calvin Johnson has more touchdown catches (11) than Carolina’s roster (9). Jackets cover 13 1/2.

Browns at Falcons: A loss to Detroit was bad. A loss to Cleveland would be worse. The Lions are a bad football team. The Browns are that indecipherable, green, fuzzy substance in a Ziplock bag that got pushed to the back of the fridge and was discovered 17 months later. And you DON’T want to open that bag. They are 31st in rushing and 29th in rush defense. They also have 20 turnovers. Three more and the franchise gets a tax writeoff. Falcons cover eight.

Vanderbilt at Kentucky: The game has been canceled. Both sides agreed it would be more fun to just watch films of the Georgia games.

The King and It: Steve Spurrier returns to Gainesville. Unfortunately, he didn’t bring a team with him. But I’m guessing four quarters of bows and adulation from 88,000 swooning Gators fans will suffice. By the way, the other guy is Urban Meyer. Florida covers 13 1/2.

• Alabama at LSU: The good news is it can’t get any worse for Mike Shula — you get to play Mississippi State only once, and ‘Bama already lost that game. Asked if players still believe in Shula, fullback Tim Castille said: “We have to. We don’t have a choice right now.” Um. So was that an endorsement? Tigers roll, but won’t cover 18.

Miami at Maryland: Larry Coker is a nice man and a solid coach who has been thrown under the bus by half of his players and driven over by the other half. But as Donna Shalala would tell you, it’s easier to fire the coach than jail all of the players. Fear the Turtle. Terps cover three.

Wake Forest at FSU: As a significant underdog to a team with three fewer wins, this would be a good time for the Deacons to play the no-respect card. The only problem with that is they’re about to get smacked in the head. Seminoles cover 8 1/2.

Tennessee at Arkansas: The Razorbacks have won eight straight. Two more and somebody might actually be able to name one of their players. Piggies cover 5 1/2.

Last week: 5-4 straight up, 4-5 against the line.

Bottom line: 58-32 straight up, 45-44-1 against the line.

Like I said, let Auburn be Auburn. Beat Tech and all will forgiven. Lose to Tech and Hell will be calling for the Dawgs coaching staff. That is just the way it is here in Georgia. If you don’t know that, you ain’t been around long. Oh yea, just for the heck of it, ya’ll let that Cox guy play a game. My pick—-the day game gives the Dawgs a break——they win even if they lose. They have more time to heal and grit their teeth for Tech.

Does anyone realize we are going from FIRST TO WORST?!?! From champs of the SEC to virtually the worst in the SEC. Yeah, I know Vandy, MSU, & Ole Miss have 1-5 records, but did you actually watch our games with these teams? We had a favorable schedule with the worst teams in the SEC and pulled out two lucky games and lost the third one.

We can not suffer through another embarassing season without changes. RICHT HAS TO MAKE SOME CHANGES!

Let’s get some respect and pride back and BEAT AUBURN. a win over Yech is a given in their annual beat down, but NO it’s not enough to make this season anything but embarassing.

I love the talent I’ve seen in Stafford, but 4 touchdowns and 12 picks, combined with the COUNTLESS drops, and multiple fumbles, won’t beat ANYBODY! We’re not as far from success as everybody is saying…..Should have beaten Vandy and Kentucky, we will next year, could have beaten Tenn (lead after 3 quarters) and FA, we’ll win at least one of those next year….Our defense hasn’t been the ‘85 bears, but our offense has consistantly put them in terrible position ALL freakin year. Pray for a win out of these last 2, win our bowl game, and next year we’ll be back.

I really hope you enjoy this season because i hate to think what might happen when the tradional powers in the ACC bounce back, and going into next year with a new QB and no CJ? Hopefully Tenuta will follow CJ’s lead and split, maybe he’ll take a head coaching job in the ACC and then you’d have to face his Defense every year…

Well, just got back from my double-wide and taking the wheels uf for de wekend when I red bout all dis talk bout my buldogs. U see, i gaduated frum UgA (cum lowdy) and i find dis talk distubbing. i also played futball for vince doley, nut much, but i had a ful ride and luv my dogs.

No one talks bout my dogs like dis. We are powerful, grate, and the best at futboll. 1 bed yere does not make us a bad team and we will be bac next yere.

I can see the Bulldog bantering now, and how they step up and attempt to defend a program that I have targeted for being inept for years. 2006 is nothing more than a revelation.

Yes CMR is the man, but even GOD cannot lead you arrogant, self-centered, ignorant football fanatics to a National Title and here’s why:

  1. You are arrogant and lack respect for your opponents (i.e. West Virgnia last year. Check with Vince Dooley, he could prepare team better than anyone.

  2. You place too much emphasis on recruiting rankings (i.e. Stafford, Cox, and Barnes) and not identifying and obtaining quality talent. Fire your recruiters, they suck and that is where the problem lies, not coaching.

  3. Your campus is getting more redneck by the minute (i.e. rebel flags, etc.) and fails to contain the diversity required to attract and retain multi-cultural athletes (i.e. Calvin Johnson)

  4. Michael Adams is running your program and not Vince Dooley. Major problem.

  5. Try and recruit more fans that have actually attended of have the ACT or SAT scores of 1 or 650 respectively that could qualify for your rigourous academic envrironment.

  6. There are actual student athletes that want an education and a degree that means something (i.e. Tech) vs. Phyical Education Equipment Management* from UGA.

  7. More your scheduled more rigorous and quit playing those candy#$# D1-AA schools. The move to play OSU is a start, but I would prefer to see an opener with UT, USC, or Alabama. Quit being so d#$# afraid of everyone.

Engage these concepts, and you will be on your way to a fine mediocre program.

Guess who each of these QB’s are:

Player A: 51.6% completion, 1230 yds passing, 4 TD’s and 12 INT’s.

Player B: 51.7% completion rate, 1996 yards, 10 TD’s and 11 INT’s.

Here’s a hint, both are stats from freshman QB’s for GT and UGA. Give up? Player A is Matthew Stafford, he of the high rankings coming out of high school. Player B? Yep, that was Reggie Ball’s freshman statistical line from 2003.

Okay Dawg fans, let’s here the “51-7” and “Ball can’t count to 4” insults now. I know you’re dying to hurl them.

Richt reminds me a little bit of George Bush…”Stay the course”, “Rumsfield will stay”…This is the same kind of the old “head in the sand” strategy. The suggestion that you consider at least one major assistant coach change, and possibly two, seems to be warrented. Never forget the fans are at the center of the atheletic programs support & history says there can`t be too many 6 or 7 win seasons at UGA without a major revolt. BEAT TECH!!!!!!!

Buzzmeister: I hate to admit, but agree with a lot of your outside observations…..I think 1, 2, and 7 are dead on…we should show more respect for our opponents, (fans especially)our recruiting strategy backfires a lot…scout and rivals are horrible……and i would like to step up the non-conference games..now on the campus growing red-neck, i’m not sure, but let’s compare the female population to that of your downtown student body, you have to admit ……it’s not even a close comparison…..have you been to a dawg game?

Tech has their once a decade season and the next thing you know Georgia is a mediocre program. Maybe it is the 7 straight “bowl” games that justifies your program. UGA fans, let the bumblebees have their fun. It has been five years since the techmites had anything to be happy about. Would you trade four straight wins against them and 4 straight 10 + win seasons, and three trips to the SEC Championship for one okay season in a mediocre ACC? Take away Calvin Johnson and every game would like their game against Clemson. Better yet, we own Tech and it is not far-fetched to think Reggie Ball will throw the ball away on 4th down, throw a pick in the endzone to end the game, etc. There is a reason that the Tech coaching staff gets $5,000 each for beating the Dawgs and the UGA staff gets nothing as it is expected every year.

Our campus may not have as many females, but if you would ever get out of the hodunk town you live in and visit a city, you would know that there are about 10 times as many females in Atlanta than there are in Athens. Not to mention you can actually take them into 21 and over bars. But your only perspective of UGA is probably at football games, since I’m sure you’re a sidewalk alum dreaming of what it would have been like to have a college degree. As an Auburn alum in Athens, I think UGA (not really the football program), is being hurt by metro Atlanta. I’ve talked to numerous alumni about this, and they agree. Few people going to UGA anymore have lifelong respect for the school and team. Thus, you get things like booing and less than stellar attendence when the team slips. UGA needs to rediscover their southern college identity, and I’m not even talking about football. Granted, I’m not sure they have much to do with it, they’re simply a product of the state. I think it’ll get a bit better 10-20 years from now when all these current yankee-bred students settle in GA. Just a thought.

Third: your program is slightly above mediocre, and always will be. You will never be in the class of Miami, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, or even GT, becuause you only have 1 national title to your name and it for a very long time before you see another one.

Fourth: look for CMR to bolt to Miami at his first chance. Yes, Miami can afford to buy him out.

So keep on barking, whining and crying about 2006, because 2007, 2008, 2009 or 2010 is not going to get much better. Your competing SEC schools are doing a better job of recruiting and coaching as compared to you guys.

Did someone say UGAg has a once in a decade bad team? So I guess you block out those 5 “great” teams in the 90’s. That’s funny. Yes we Jackets’ fans are enjoying our season. You can all say that the ACC is down just because the “powerhouses” aren’t in control of the conference. I guess the other teams just can’t be better than them huh? Please tell me who is better than Tech in the ACC. Is there any other team with a 5-1 record in the conference? That would be a no.

Why can’t you mutt fans accept that UGA sucks this year? Losses to Vandy and Kentucky in one year for the first time since the 70’s. Wow that’s impressive. How does it feel to be at the bottam of the SEC this year after winning the SEC last year in it’s “down” year? UGA finally got exposed.

Are you bitter Dawgbyte? Your post proves it and looks just plain silly. “Tech football players don’t attend class.” Give me a break. When I attended GT, they were in class everyday and there were always coaches checking to make sure. By the way GT football players actually have to attend class to pass unlike those mutt players.

Uga Fans are probably some of the most ignorant and idiotic people out there. They claimed tech is in a weak conference that is having a down year but teams like VT, Maryland, and Miami that Tech have beaten could probably beat the heck out of the overrated uga bulldogs. Tech have players like James Johnson, Tashaud Choice, and Mike Cox that don’t fumble, can make big plays, and don’t DROP PASSES. Also Tech knows how to make average players good, and good players like calvin Johnson and kamichael hall great! That is unlike UGA which makes good players look bad out there. Most of all, if uga is really that good, then why do they barely beat miss st. and ole miss, and lost to vandy and Kentucky? The only possible way you ignorant fans can make fun of us is if your team beat our team and that is not going to happen as of right now! Also our quarterback, reggie ball, might be inconsistent, but he don’t make consistent bad throws like Stafford.

In case you missed it Georgia Tech’s graduation rates are not that much better than Georgia’s. GT- 54% GA- 50% for the 1999 Freshman Class. As for ACT and SAT scores- well I did play football under Vince Dooley at Georgia and graduated with a 3.95 GPA in Pre-med and by the way my SAT score was 1471 and I made a 29 on the ACT, so I could have attended any college I wanted including Georgia Tech. As you should be aware College is what the student makes of it, if you go to get an education and study hard then you will get good grades. If you go to party and don’t study then you will struggle.

I have always pulled for both of my Home State Schools and I hope that GT does win the ACC Championship, but I also want the Dawgs to beat Auburn this Saturday as well. I also hope on Saturday, November 25th when GT and GA play that it will be a clean, hard fought and well played game and that when the game is finished they will shake hands and wish each other well.

The name calling is unnecessary and you need to check your sentences for gramatical errors befor posting in the future.

UGA basically sucked big time from 1985 to 1999, something they try to forget and sidestep. Most UGA fans will say you are only as good as your last report card. I do not totally agree with the statement, but if that is the case, then UGA is failing.

Amen Tech Fan 1, thank you for stepping up and confirming that Dawg fans are ignorant. They love to throw stats, but not national titles. All we hear about is passing percentages, net yards, vertical leaps, etc., but nothing about national titles. It always goes quiet when you talk about national titles, or lack thereof, unless you are referring to those GymDogs.

By the way, why is every team in Athens call GymDogs, DiamondDogs, etc.? Any answers out there?

Also, Ray Goof is interviewing for the OC position. This should shore things up for 2007. Yeal Baby!!!

Right on man. We are still no where near UF though. As a life long Dawg I have noticed some change in fan base. I remember going to the UGA / FL game and seeing a HUGE difference in the way the fans acted. There really is not that much difference anymore. These Yanks have brought a lack of class and an NFL mentality to the SEC that has no place down here. UF will always lead the way in classless Yanks but thanks to ATL we are changing as well.

I have a difficult time believing that a lot of you UGA fans are calling for coaching changes. I used to think you guys knew your place in college football lore. I had respect for you because you didn’t expect to win the national championship every year. You knew where you stood in the pecking order. But now I’m beginning to think you have Volunteeritis. You see, UT fans believe that they are historically on a par with the Oklahoma’s, Texas’s, USC’s, Penn St’s Michigan’s, and Notre Dame’s. These elite programs along with the recent (past 25 years) Florida schools can lynch their coaches for a 6-6 season. They have that right of passage. You, and UT fans do not. Don’t take Richt’s recent success for granted. Hold on to him and his staff with all your might. With him you’re a contender every year. Without him, you’re a perrenial 7-4/8-3 team like you have been throughout UGA’s entire existance (sans Herscel era).

Everyone thinks that Georgia is having a down year this year, and they are, but wait until next year. Georgia loses a lot especially up front on the O-line and, unless they go out and by some Japanese sumos, then they’ll be horrible at pass and run blocking. Oh wait they’re horrible this year. Also their “highly recruited” quarterbacks stink and next year won’t have any time to throw. But enough about next year, cause in two weeks, the Jackets are going to go the Stanford and RIP UP THE HEDGES
