Tech lose? Perish the thought.

Terence Moore

So what happens if Georgia Tech really does lose to Troy on Saturday? Should the Yellow Jacket Nation scream or shrug, especially given the following that you’ve no doubt heard by now:

Troy almost beat Florida State last Saturday at Florida State.

Troy did beat 17th-ranked Missouri two seasons ago.

Troy once was coached by Tech’s Chain Gailey, who turned the Trojans into a Division II power after winning a championship.

Yada, yada, yada.

The answer is, Tech has no business losing to a Troy. Period. Then again, Tech also had no business losing to a Duke or to a Wake Forest, which the Jackets have done during the Gailey regime.

As long as Reggie Ball is on the field, the Jackets have a good chance. You figure out what we have a good chance to do. Reggie surely doesn’t know.

Terrence, I’m surprised you don’t think Tech is the 2nd 2nd coming…afterall they hung with your Almighty team and “should’ve” won. I think they outplayed Notre Dame; no way Tech loses to Troy.

With Chan’s philosophy of keeping games close and playing conservatively on offense, there is a very good chance that Troy can win Saturday. When you don’t put teams away, you risk losing to inferior teams —- like NC State last year at home.

Even with Samford, take away the two defensive TD’s and we win 24-6. Not a juggernaut, is it?

I gave up my season tickets because Tech is downright boring to watch and frustrating to cheer for. Chan’s play-calling takes the crowd out of the game much more than anything the opponent does.

But, Tech get rid of Chan???? Are you kidding me? We absolutely love being mediocre and second-class with this administration. At least no one can accuse Clough of putting athletics ahead of academics and research.

So what happens if Georgia loses to UAB and Stafford throws three more INTS this weekend. UAB nearly got them a couple of years age. Oh wait, only positive stuff about UGAG and the negative all goes toward Tech.

I guess FSU would have fired Bobby Bowden if they had lost to Troy.

Terence - what if UGA loses to UAB? if..if..if

I can see why the AJC sports writers like to write about what “might” happen…you make it up as you go along anyway.

Hey Mark, I appreciate you throwing the towel in on my beloved team. Tech nation doesn’t need your negativity at the games or on this blog. I heard UGA is accepted lame fans like you so why don’t you do us a favor and find someone else to cheer for. It’s half a** fans like you that is holding this program down. You only key in on the lows and totally miss the highs. You are going to wish you had your tickets when we win the conference.

Quoting Mark (from above):

First, let me say a couple things:

Why do you just up and decide to take away the two defensive touchdowns? That makes no sense. With that second guessing logic, I could just as easily say, “take away the penalty against Hall and Georgia Tech beats Notre Dame” but I don’t! Because that’s just how the game went…no use trying to rewrite history or imagine what might have been.

Georgia Tech has started off this season about like I expected them…they played Notre Dame tough and gave themselves a chance to win…and they stomped Div 1-AA Samford into the ground (folks who think we should have run up the score can jump off a cliff…38-6 is a pretty sound defeat if you ask me).

In my opinion, Georgia Tech will win this game a lot easier than many expect.

Hey Terrance, What if you actually had a more positive outlook on life? That is why they play the games. So what if 1AA Troy or UAB wins? It’s a 1AA school because of size. Many NFL teams have 1AA players that excel-Jerry Rice is one. It’s just football. Unfortunately, southerners live and breathe it and their world goes kablooey if their team loses. Big deal! No one gets killed; no one loses their job; and there is always next season.

this is goofy. how, after the two games we’ve played, can you call Tech “very beatable”? we hung with a very good ND team, and shut down a team that runs an offense similar to Troy. anyone can lose any week, but i don’t see why GT is more of an upset risk than other teams. silly blog, Moore.

Terrance, can we just call for the dismissal of you incredibly bias views from our newspaper. This is the dumbest thing I’ve ever read. Mr. Moore, this is quite possibly the first article written and published about what will happen when a team loses. It might be one thing if Tech was 0-7 and about to play last seasons’ Southern Cal, but comeone, we’re in WEEK 3. You must have had a deadline to turn into your story to your UGA grad bosses. Y’all might want to start focusing in on your top ten dawgs(B*TCHES) that don’t really look all that top 25…..

K-dogg makes a good point above. The whole section about “what if” regarding Tech not scoring 2 defensive TDs, etc is stupid analysis. The philosophy of the Tech team is conservative play-calling BECAUSE of the fact that we have a solid, play-making defense. So the 24-6 score mention is completely silly. Poor sports writing. But it’s just a blog, so you’re forgiven.

The difference is Bugs, is that in the Mark Richt Era, we don’t lose to teams we are supposed to beat.

We don’t lose to Vanderbilt and Kentucky. We don’t lose to the Mississippi teams. We beat the bottom of our conference.

But you Bugs can’t say the same. Every year, you manage to lose to someone like Duke or Wake.

We won’t lose to UAB.

And you know what, you can add you Bugs to the list of teams which we should stick an automatic W to on the schedule at the beginning of the year.

I hate Terence Moore as much as anyone, and as a Fan of Chan I hope that he remains the HC of you Bugs for 20 more years. But Moore does have a point here.

Y’all suck.

Chan’s responsibility for the past four years was the offense, which has been the weak link on the team. Now, his job is special teams, which suck. What is the deal with his job security? If and when we lose Tenuta, we will become the rambling train wreck.

By dawgfacedboy

The reason people aren’t saying the Dawgs could lose to UAB is because UGA is a superior program in every aspect of the game. From coaching to recruiting! They have the or one of the (depending on where you look) best QB recruits coming out of high school to take over one of the top programs in the country over the last 5 years! That is something to positively write about. The fact that your mediocre program has a senior QB who hasn’t lived up to half of his potential or hype, and you play with 0 consistency (occasionally beating a big team, and usually losing to the bottom of the barrell conf. teams) isn’t really a reason to stand up and get excited! Face it, you suck!

Pathetic blog. At this point in the season Tech is looking like one of the better ACC teams. Granted, that is not saying much, but Clemson lost to an ok Boston College team, FSU barely beats Troy coming off an emotional win and a short rest (which T-Dawg does not mention) and Va Tech…well, we can’t slander them just yet after last year. Instead of looking at what MIGHT happen, how about a little focus on what HAS happened. Tech made Quinn look like, ummmm, Reggie Ball…indecisive and uneffective. Yes, they lost to Notre Dame, but they played well enough to deserve a place in the top 25, especially after seeing what Notre Dame did to a highly respected Punn State squad.

MUAHHAHAHAH while tech only hangs on to “moral” victories. uga is just worried about when they are going to win a national championship.

keep bzzzzzzzzing and keep your fingers crossed tech fans. you might and i mean MIGHT just make a repeat appearance in that lofty emerald bowl.

As Jackethawk said earlier…funny that the team UGA is playing this weekend IS in fact the same one the dogs had to rally in the 4th to beat 3 years ago at THEIR OWN HOMECOMING! But of course Mr. Moore DOESN’T speak of that. All of his negativity DOES go towards Tech (ex: where we are eternally reminded of the stupid Duke fluke 3 years ago). I can’t wait to see his articles in Jan. when Tech is in the Orange Bowl, or the Gator at the least. No doubt Troy is a great lower-level 1A team, but they can’t hang 4 quarters with such an outstanding football team like the Jackets this season. This is a special team, and it will be a special year for tech. Tech 34-Troy 17

Terrance, you’re right. GT could lose against 1A(not1AA)Troy if they don’t bring their “A” Game. Troy’s got speed and good skill players. That’s how they hung with FSU, plus FSU took them lightly. To me, it’s up to the coaches to motivate the team. There won’t be a GT player who doesn’t think they will win. So, I expect them to play tenatively, fall behind, then perhaps catch up & win. I’m taking Troy & the points. I think GT will win, but not by 18. IE 1960

First off, for you leghumping responders, if Tech is so pitiful and pathetic, then why do you morons waste so much of your energy downing us? The way you dipwads talk, you'd think we're freaking Duke or something. 9 straight bowl games= 9 straight winning seasons.

Secondly, Mr. Moore, being that numerous Tech and UGA fans both seem to realize that you're a JOKE of a journalistic hack, do us all a favor and go work at ESPN permanently. That way maybe we can get some decent insightful sportswriting at the AJC for once.

patrick, hmmmmm ok here ya go

tech:

2005 - 7-5 losses including nc state, virginia, and utah.

2004 - 7-5 losses including virginia, north carolina

2003 - 7-6 losses including byu, duke

UGA

05- 10-3 SEC Champion + BCS Bowl 04- 10-2 03- 11-3 SEC East Champion 02- 13-1 SEC Champion + BCS Bowl

You see Patrick that’s the difference between UGA and Tech. We win and you lose. Tech sucks and they lost their first game but all you can talk about is how you kept it close. I’m glad to hear that Tech is capable of keeping games close. UGA is a superior program, I never said anything about UGA being perfect but compared to YECH they come awfully close. I can “diss” tech because everything about their football program blows a big hard one.

I find it humorous you have to go back 3 and 4 years to take a shot at Gailey.

Say it slowly with me Terrance, Ga. Tech lost to Duke in 2003. Maybe you missed it when you look at the calendar but it’s 2006 now. .

Ga. Tech lost to Wake Forrest in 2002. In 2002 Wake finished the season with 7 wins and waxed Oregon 38-17 in there bowl game. Funny how you left that out when you mentioned Tech’s last lost to Wake.

After all your mighty ND lost to Michigan State last year at home. Yes the same Michigan State team that finished the 2005 season with a 5-6 record. Funny how you never talk about that.

Mark, you must have forgotten that we subbed in 2nd team offense in that game. We led 35-7 at halftime. 3 more offensive TDs would have given us a 59-7 win. Settling for a FG in the 2nd quarter against ND, punting on 4th and 1 on the ND 49, a bad call on Phillip Wheeler, and “undisputable evidence” of Calvin Johnson’s “incompletion” on 3rd down were the reasons that we lost against ND. Take away those, the game at least would’ve gone into OT.

while i am far from a chan supporter, i do not believe he should be fired right now, after the season, or within the next few years…i think we need to allow nix to work out the kinks of the offense…lets face it, as long as reggie is the QB, this offense will be boring to watch…we cannot air it out because reggie cannot throw the ball…i hope CJ will stay next year, and that bennett, nesbitt, threet, whoever is our QB can hit CJ in stride…gailey has finaly turned the reins over to nix,now lets give nix a chance and let him implement his system and see what happens…chan has recruited an amazing class for next season…lets see what he can do with those kids before we throw in the towel with him…i must admit, i have asked for his head on numerous occasions…but i feel like he may have this program headed in the right direction…he has had more to deal with than any coach in the country in the last 5 years, and still had us in bowl games…once we get our numbers back and all the controversies behind us, then we will see just how good of a coach chan can be…i feel like his offense is so vanilla as a result of reggie, i dont think reggie can be handed a complicated game plan that would confuse other teams…lets get a headsy QB in there next year and win some championships…of course, if we colllapse this season, and lose several games that we should win (i.e. UVA,UNC,DUKE,TROY), then all this comes out in the wash, and D-RAD hires us a new coach…however i still think this team should easily win 8 games…HERES TO ECLIPSING THE 7 WIN MARK!!

First of all IhateUGA- learn how to post a blog!

Second of all- learn how to post a blog!

James Wilson- “you must have forgotten” to wait for the delay on your post as the directions say to. You were however kind enough to post a “revised” version of the previous 3 posts. Which by the way looks like THE EXACT SAME THING!! Good job.

I truly had hoped that the childish uga group would find another place to play when their mom leaves them alone with the computer. From the comments you make it is clear that you have never set foot on a college campus and a good possibility that you missed the high school campus also. Uga has a good program. As a Tech fan I am not happy where our program is at but I do see better times ahead. I am proud that we opened our season with a ranked team even though we lost. I am not sure UGA would ever take the chance to open with any team above the 1AA ranks. I do not fault you for that little dawgs. Calvin did not pick a college just to make the pros, if he did he certainly would have picked UGA. He wanted a quality education and he will suprise each and every little dawg and jacket when he returns next year for his senior season. He truly is a class person and he has the ability to group several words together to create an intellegent sentence. More than I can say for the doggie bloggers that find their way to this blog. Go Jackets.

Why not? Because UGA always wins the games they are supposed to!

Tech on the other hand, does not!!!

Has everyone here kept up with the recruits who have already verbally commited to Tech? Its an astonishing class, and if Chan could win 7 games with his two star recruits, think of what he may do with a load of 4 stars. Not that those rankings matter that much though, only time will tell is the players can develop their skills. Also most are from in state which is extremely surprising. Hey Terrance, do you have anything bad to say about their recruiting? I’m waiting to hear what you have to say. I know it’ll be critical. I also hope that Mark Richt doesn’t stop walking to suddenly, because if he does you’re going to have your head stuck four feet up his a*. And it’s going to be a tight sqeeze in their between you and your buddy Bradley.

GT Fan- I love how you lecture UGA fans about being childish while you make your own snide remarks. College campus? Does Tech even have a campus? Or is it just a bunch of buildings randomly placed throughout Atl.? While I agree with as most dawg fans probably do about doing away with the 1AA teams on our schedule let’s not forget whipping CLemson’s ars two years in a row to start off our season!

Tech fans- I don’t think most dawg fans dislike Tech until you start b*** about how you deserve the respect that the Dawgs get. Your failure to see why and accept the facts are annoying. What MR has done for the Dawgs I believe deserves to have some heads up his a**! When you all can compete for your conference title every year and bring in the level of talent that the dawgs do then i’m sure you will get your deserved respect. That is something you earn, it is not something you get just because you fail to accept that you are and average program who gets average respect.

NOTE THE PICTURE: Why did the AJC put a picture of your PUNTER with this article? Is that going to be the most important aspect of your game this weekend? Look at Chan, he isn’t even focusing on the kick. He heard the music and turned to watch the ice cream truck drive by. Probably gave Reggie a fiver to run get him a push-up and Dilly bar.

Dogs lose? Perish the thought. By Terence Moore | Wednesday, September 13, 2006, 2:40 PM The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

So what happens if Georgia really does lose to Alabama Birmingham on Saturday? Should the Bulldog Nation scream or shrug, especially given the following that you’ve no doubt heard by now: Alabama Birmingham almost beat Tennessee last season at Tennessee. UAB did beat 6th ranked LSU a few seasons ago. UAB is coached by Watson Brown, who recruited the group that beat Georgia in 1991 and is the brother of reigning national champion Texas. Yada, yada, yada. The answer is, Georgia has no business losing to a UAB. Period. Then again, Georgia also had no business losing to a Boston College or to a West Virginia, which the Bulldogs have done during the Richt regime.

I love the UGA fans on this blog. They are soooo cute. If they want to gloat then wait til November. Let the teams settle it then. In the meantime, beat your Vandys and your Ole Miss’s while Tech beats it’s Troys and Clemsons.

Maybe when you guys are done cleaning my pool, or protecting my home against termites, we can have a cold one and talk about football.

As for Mr. Moore’s comments, I understand completely. And, since we are hypothesizing, what would happen if every member of the Jackets were rendered blind ten minutes before kickoff? Yikes!! Then where would they be? Wow…I am really getting worried now.

Hey Dogs, you guys might well be better than Tech this year, but Tech’s Nat’l Champ. trophy has about 10 years less dust on it that yours.

Take the high road guys, let the UGA trolls take the low road as usual. (this is not directed at the classy UGA fans)

Let the UGA fans beat their chests about their 2 national football championships. Just wait, one of them will try to tell us that our UPI Coaches Poll Championship doesn’t count. You can just then ask them if they should win that trophy in the next ten years, if they will display it and hang a banner too? If they tell you “no”, then you can just laugh at them. You know as well as I do that if UGA won that trophy, they would claim it too. It was well deserved, just like our other three National Championships. UGA has to hang their hats on beating us regularly, but secretly they are jealous of having half the National Football Championships we do and rightly so!

Remember, Rome wasn’t rebuilt in a day…we are moving in the right direction…

Onward through the fog…take the high road…

First of all, UAB is like Troy—a Division 1A program. Second, yes, UGA started the year with a 1AA team, but Tech had a 1AA team last week when UGA was on the road in a conference game—what’s the difference?

Second, I think—based on the way Troy looked last week—that an upset could happen at Tech. Also, UAB scares the crap out of me right now, as well. I think they lost at Oklahoma in week 1 by 7. They almost beat Tennessee last year and us a couple of years ago. Don’t think for a moment that the UGA folks think this is a cake walk—it is not.

Third, the reason this article is “What if Tech loses” instead of “What if UGA loses” is that UGA finds a way to win and wins the games over inferior opponents. Tech’s history does not show the same. Plus, Tech fans brag about “Keeping it close” and UGA fans brag about winning conference championships.

You guys are the South Carolina of the ACC. You talk a lot of garbage even though you can’t back it up. Each year you win a game you shouldn’t—but then you finish the season just happy to be bowl eligible.

Unlike FSU, Tech can run the football. Troy isn’t some sort of Monsters of the Midway defense. Their success against FSU had more to do with FSU’s poor rushing attack than anything Troy did. Add to that the fact that Tech held ND to two rushing touchdowns, none thru the air and no one should be fretting about Saturday. Troy has Tech’s attention, and that’s not a good thing for Troy.
