Tuesday Countdown: Girls gone wild; T.O. just gone

Jeff Schultz

10: Wow. It’s one thing for the Eagles to shelve Terrell Owens. But now even Renee Thomas and Angela Keathley are available on the open market! Love for sale.

9: Used to be in sports it was all about performance. Performance clearly isn’t the issue with Renee and Angela, so I’m assuming they’ve just become too big of a distraction for the rest of the Carolina Panthers’ “TopCats.” The NFL Cheerleaders, Twits and Therapeutic Spababes Union is expected to grieve the action.

8: NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue immediately denounced Renee and Angela’s Tampa bathroom escapades. The league then announced both will appear in a new NFL cheerleaders calendar, because one good contradiction deserves another.

7: Melissa Holden, the women who got punched by Thomas in the incident, actually said: “She [Thomas] was screaming, ‘I am a Panther cheerleader. I’m not going to get arrested for this!’” Gee. And I thought it was bad when Rod Coleman pulled the do-you-know-who-I-am? card.

6: Surprise, surprise. Penthouse magazine is courting the two.

5: And now for the clothed twit. I’ll say it again: Terrell Owens had a case for wanting his contract renegotiated. In the NFL, teams can cut you any time they want because contracts aren’t guaranteed. Players deserve the same right. BUT …

4: … never in the history of professional sports has any athlete handled a contract situation so poorly.

3: The only thing worse than Owens making a circus of things before this season started was making a circus of things after it started. Before the season, you alienate the public. After the opening kickoff, you alienate your teammates.

2: BUT … if you think Owens will never work in this league again, let me throw out some names for you: Ricky Williams, Keyshawn Johnson, Lawrence Phillips, Michael Irvin, Nate Newton. There’s always somebody willing to make room for high-risk talent.

1: And tell me again what part of the ESPN show, “Playmakers,” was exaggerated?

The news regarding the two cheerleaders brings a whole new meaning to fantasy football. And last time I checked this is America. How can two attractive women get fired for finding each other attractive?

You get an Amen Big Jon.

And T.O. did’nt get kicked off the Eagles for talking about McNabb. He got kicked of because he beat up Hugh Douglas, took off his shirt and said” who else want some of DeBo???”

cant stand t.o. but speaking of contradictions and poor management, the eagles head office gets it hands down. first of all they threw a lot of money at a guy who doesnt seem to be a star or even above marginal running back after he held out with them at that point saying initially to both players they dont renegotiate contracts while at the same time they are showing t.o. the door for being t.o. i think they somehow wanted to show the rest of the team they were ok as managers and in control, if you speak out just right we pay you if you dont we fire you.

i also think this will be a test case for management in the nfl and t.o. will be the fall guy like henderson was 30 some odd years ago when he held out to really never play again. i think the nfl wants to reestablish that it is not about the player and player antics will not be tolerated. if he doesnt play again he will have been black balled.

Kudos to the Eagles for taking a stand against the biggest punk in sports. Here’s wishing a career ending injury to t.o. upon his return.

Stupid, if they had used a stall in the men’s bathroom, not a soul would have complained and they’d still have jobs.

If all else fails, there’s always Oakland. A millionaire idiot. Well won’t be a millionaire much longer. He totally blew 7.5 million bonus he was to get next season.

Big Jon and bigbelly see nothing wrong with a couple of d** getting it on in the toilet of some Florida dive? Schultz, your columns are bad enough without having to air the opinions of a couple of local perverts. Stick to football.

You’re right, major sports teams would put a thieving, murdering , rapist on the roster if they thought any certain player would help them win…Most teams do not have the backbone to do what Andy Reid did…good for him and good for McNabb, he’s a decent guy who doesn’t deserve a tumor like T.O. More and more sports teams must establish an almost zero tolerance for law breakers…reset the standard, make it an honor to have an opportunity to play professional paid sports…rather than a right or an entitlement. Who am i kidding?

T.O. will find a job soon enough, Al Davis always seemed willing to employee these types…I’d love to see T.O. and Moss go at it…

Meanwhile,

As a lifetime Eagles fan (grew up within walking distance of Franklin Field) I applaud the Eagles stance. I love TO’s game but deplore his antics. I also realize that you can’t take something away that he never had. Sometimes no matter how good you are or how much you have associations will destroy you. I hope TO does well but it’s time for him to move on. The Eagles will survive and prosper.

I think T.O. made a big mistake with all this antics and on top of that belittle a black quaterback against a white quaterback when there is so few successful black quaterback and Donovan is one of them. Shame on you T.O.

The news about about TO is not alarming to me. The news about Pete Rose minimizing Jrs involvement with steroids is.

Maria- what does RACE have to do with this? You must be one of those people that considers race a factor in all of the events in the world. What a shame. People like you are keeping us from developing the attitude that eveyone was created equal.

Point #4: … “never in the history of professional sports has any athlete handled a contract situation so poorly.”

Wrong. Former Hawk Kevin Willis, on the advice of his brother-in-law, decided to hold out — WHILE HE WAS ON INJURED RESERVE.

Brilliant!

T.O. will definitely catch on with another team. This time next year we’ll all be talking about him jumping on a table in his new locker room and screaming “who else wants to “F” with Hollywood Court?”

The two ousted (outed?) Panther cheerleaders should come to Atlanta and work for the Hawks. Lord knows they could use something of interest at Phillips Arena.
