Chamblee domes it up
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Well, they can’t all be pretty.
The Bulldogs rolled past the Westover Patriots 41-26 in a game that was much closer than it should have been. Chamblee handicapped themselves by fumbling five times, four of which lead to Westover touchdowns. The Bulldog’s Defense picked up the offense’s slack. The Chamblee Defense made critical stops such as causing and retrieving a momentum-shifting goal line fumble.
Running back Warren Norman is putting up scary numbers up right now. Norman added another 200-yard performance against the Patriots complemented by a whopping five rushing touchdowns. In the playoffs, Norman is averaging 186 yards per game and almost four touchdowns per contest. Those stats are borderline unreal.
In more groundbreaking news, Chamblee will be making its first trip to the semifinals in 42 years. Chamblee will face the highly talented 13-0 Carver Columbus Tigers. Anchored by Auburn committed quarterback DeRon Furr, Carver Columbus had not been tested much this season until last week against Carrolton where they escaped 14-7. Chamblee will need to use their clock eating running game to keep the dangerous Carver Columbus Offense off the field as much as possible.
Another interesting factor is the experience aspect. Carver Columbus has played on this exact stage before. Although several members of the Bulldog’s coaching staff have coached in the dome, Chamblee players have never been this deep into the playoffs. Coach Showfety and crew are trying to make sure intimidation will not plague the Bulldogs, but this is certainly a new experience.
Chamblee students will be let out early for the game, so I believe that there will be a huge student turnout. Even students who have never attended a football game in their life are going just to get out of school early. It will be an exhilarating atmosphere for sure. I would not be surprised if it gets emotional, since Chamblee fans were spoiled this season with some fantastic victories this season.

I don’t care who wins this game, they will lose to Cairo in the championship game. The only loss Cairo has suffered this year was to AAAA Thomas County Central (13-0), who will be playing on Friday in the Dome, and who will probably win the AAAA Crown. By the way, the score to the Cairo-TCC game was 17-10.

To correct you lee champion (all lower case of course). There are no guarenties that any games will be played in columbus this year. Look at your coin toss record it speaks for itself. Besides Cairo vs Carver NH vs Carver Cairo vs Chamblee NH vs Chamblee. Only Friday and Saturday will tell. I certainly hope that Carver wins cause with all do respesct to chamblee Carver is ranked #1 and the Makers want the best team in the state here or columbus it matters not Cause South GA brings THE HIT SHOW!!! To any and all that want to compete. Question is does Carver resort to the same tactics Shaw did when you cant win between whistles or do they have a bit more class. I guess only time will tell. When the pressure is on lets see what type of character Carver displays.

both semifinal games will be great, however is guranteed a sport in the final all 4 teams have lots of speed and D1 talent. at this point in the playoffs its about mental toughness and doing the little things right.i think chamblee will take advantage of carvers multiple penalties. And todd holcomb if carver scores only 14 chamblee will win, however this game will be a high scoring affair.

how ya’ll gonna predict your future as a team. yea chamblee comes from a region that has terrible teams. but best believe, playing for 2 playoff spots in region 5B is not easy. its has 5 great teams (chamblee, blessed trinity, westminster, dunwoody, and grady) and 3 bad teams (riverwood, druid hills, and north atlanta) thats alot harder than region 2. and yea westminster beat us, but look were they are now, at home i believe. you think ur bad just cause the jock ridin ajc ranks u #1. well i got news for ya’ll. we beat #2 stephens county, ask them how our “confusing: offense left them looking stupid. ya’ll are coming to the A, which is in north georgia. so, be prepared to see how us city boys lay it down on them country boys. and if you think we lyin; ask flowery branch, stephens county, and westover how we brung it to them.

As a Chamblee alum (1979), former two-way starter on the football team, former football coach at Chamblee (1983-1986), and current instructor in English at a local university, I say “Go Dogs!” I couldn’t be more thrilled with your success. Ther only thing that matters is what happens on the field. Never give up!

IF ANY TEAM AT THIS POINT THINKS THEY ARE THE BEST THING SINCE PEANUTBUTTER IS GOING TO GET A REALITY CHECK. EXAMPLE; SHAW RAIDERS #2 COMES OUT WITH A WWF CHAMPIONSHIP BELT AROUND HIS WIAST DURING WARM UPS AT THE CAIRO GAME AND ENDED UP BEING EJECTED, AND THEN LOSE THE GAME IS PROFF THAT MOUTH BEFORE ACTION ON THE FEILD IS A WAIST OF ENERGY.

gdg73,
I can assure you that it will be no rout vs North Hall. Whoever wins the NH/ Cairo game will earn it. By the way, you better protect the ball on Saturday. Just ask McNair, Sandy Creek, and Perry, and Perry’s not known to turn the ball over a lot. Everyone seems to dismiss North Hall and Chamblee just because this is their first time in the dome. Whatever you do, don’t make that mistake, or else you will be sitting at home WATCHING the finals.

it is amazing to me that so many of this text consist of such horrible english. do you currently attend school? if so, double up on your english language skills. it is one of the most important necessities to get through life. don’t be illiterate, learn your own language.
