Robbed
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
There is no other way to describe it. Peachtree Ridge was robbed in OT last Friday night against Roswell. Say what you want, even if you were there or not, Alex Daniel fumbled the football before crossing the plane of the endzone. Plain and simple. Though I have yet to hear a Roswell fan admit that (including my fellow blogger Chris Orf). They must have seen the goaline move up two yards! Watching the replay from CSS it is clear and obvious that he (Daniel) fumbled on either the one or two and that he never broke the plane with the ball. The ball then bounced in the endzone where not one Roswell player came close to the ball. The Lions were all over it. But “The play” was ruled a TD and ended the Lions season, when it should have ended Roswell’s.
Now looking at the 4th quarter, the Lions should have wrapped things up earlier. They should have run the ball with 2 and a half minutes left rather than pass it. But they didn’t. They should have made an interception on the 50 yard line when the ball was in the defender’s hands, but they didn’t. They should have caught a TD pass in OT but they didn’t. My point is that the Lions did not have to be in this situation. It could have been won much earlier. But it wasn’t and we got totally ripped off.
In my humble opinion, Roswell still has not beaten the Lions once in the last two years. Though they earned a share of a championship and an oppurtunity at another title. That makes zero sense whatsoever. Well it is all said and done now, none of it matters anymore. The ruling cannot be changed. I just felt horrible for my friends who worked so hard all season to get here and go out on that. Especially, i feel for some of those seniors who will never play football again. What a horrible way to end their careers.
All in all though, it was a great season, with it’s highs and lows. I have enjoyed writing these blogs about Lion’s football for the AJC. I would like to thank them for the wonderful oppurtunity. I will continue to write throughout the year as the Ridge sends it’s other teams onto the field or court or in the pool, whatever it may be. I will be here. Thanks again for reading my football blogs. I hope you have enjoyed them. It has been a fantastic season. GO LIONS!
