Cross Country Finishes in 1st and 2nd
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The Lovett cross country team continued its dominance this past Saturday at the State Meet at Carrolton. The boy’s team had finished in the top three for the past four years, and the girl’s team had won state the past two years. In short, both teams had a lot of hype to live up to, and they didn’t disappoint.
The boy’s team finished in second, led by Harrison Dykes (2nd) and Bill Bazzel (5th). The rest of the team performed well also: Clarke Maddox (14th), Kyle James (20th), and Will Deisley (27th). Another thing of note is that this is the fourth time that Bill Bazzel has finished in the top ten in state finishing in 8th his freshman year, 2nd his sophomore year, and 1st his junior year. Congratulations to Bill on a great cross country career.
The girl’s team won state, led by Elizabeth Rucker (7th) and Alexandra Horst (11th). The other runners also placed extremely well to enable the runaway victory: Sarah Brook Williams (12th), Kathleen Block (14th), Ellie Boydston (22nd), Blair Beskin (26th), and Wills Davis (31st). Also, I need recognize the lone senior, Kathleen Block, for her great performance. For both cross country teams, great job and congratulations!
