Senior Day for the Lions

On Friday October 26 the Lion’s faced off against the Walker Wolverines at home for Senior Night. While the Wolverines had underachieved up until this point, their team was fueled by internet trash talk claiming that only “an apocalypse” could defeat the Wolverines. Well, that apocalypse came.

Early in the game the Lions shot off to a lead with a touchdown pass to Max Williams in the 1st quarter. After this point, the Lions never looked back shooting ahead to a 37-0 lead at halftime. Sophomore quarterback Jonathan Carkhuff had a breakout game throwing 4 TD passes and completing 73% of his passes. The supercharged Lion’s defense was lead by seniors Ricco Braxton, Adam Whitlock, and Eliot Henigan. Also, the Lion’s offensive line continued to open up holes for the running backs, which resulted in 203 yards on the ground.

All in all the Lion’s look sharp as they go into the final stretch of their region schedule. With Cross Keys this Saturday and Buford the next week the Lion’s look to compete for the number one seed in the region, as they are still undefeated in region games. Also, the Lions are now ranked number 10 in the Coach’s poll. Let’s see if they can continue this run, trying the repeat the Dome appearance from last year.
