Homecoming- So You Think You Can Dance?

It is Homecoming this weekend at Peachtree Ridge and Mill Creek is cordially invited to the party. The Lions (5-2) are coming into this game of of a bye week and a loss (one that has been erased from my mind, which is why i haven’t written in a while). Mill Creek (5-3) is coming into the game of off a 24-10 loss to Norcross. So this Friday night, they are going to try and crash the Lions party. Mill Creek is seeking their first ever playoff berth with a win or Collins Hill/South Forsyth loss. Mill Creek will more than likely end up with the #4 seed in the top-heavy Region 7. But Mill Creek thinks this could be there year. They think they can hang with the big boys. Yes, they think they can dance. Unfortunately i have got some bad news for them.

The scoop on the Hawks: They have had a relatively easy schedule so far, besides Norcross and North Gwinnett (which the lost both). They beat a weak Collins Hill team in 3 OT’s. In my opinion, yes, Mill Creek is the 4th best team in the region, but definetely not going to be a contender. The Hawks are led by QB Zach Landis who has over 1000 yards passing with 9 TD’s and 3 INT’s. They are led at RB by #5 Lenny Brooks. Brooks has 85 carries for nearly 500 yards with 4 TD’s. But really, the talent at the Ridge is far superior to the Hawks.

The Lions: Needless to say, the Lions do have way more talent, on both sides of the ball. The Lions are also coming off a bye with a loss. They have had a lot of time to think about their mistakes and to watch game film. There is a chance that this game could get ugly.

I think the Lions should win it pretty handily. I dont think the Hawks are going to crash our Homecoming party. Asher Clark may be able to throw for a career high in this one. The Lions are simply too powerful for the Hawks. But the Hawks will rebound and will make the playoffs. Unfortunately they may be looking at North Cobb in the First Round. The Lions need to win out to secure at least the #2 spot in the region to capture home field for the first round of the playoffs. My call on the game is Lions 32 Mill Creek 10.

GO LIONS!!!!
