ELCA overpowers Mercy

ELCA’s size and execution prove to be too much for upstart Mercy. ELCA took a 20-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. Two touchdowns and a long TD pass left Mercy in an insurmountable hole.

Mercy came alive in the 2nd quarter to score 14 points. Chris Willis and William Pearl each ran for touchdowns to cut the lead to 20-14. Mercy’s next drive stalled inside the ELCA 25 and that would be the closest Mercy got to the lead all night. ELCA scored before the half ended to take a 26-14 half time lead. In the 3rd quarter ELCA scored 3 more times to make the score ELCA 45 Mercy 14. Mercy scored in the 4th quarter on a Pearl to Bankhead pass. The two point conversion was good and the game ended ELCA 45 Mercy 22. Mercy’s record is now 3-3.

With such a young squad, the Mercy future looks bright. Go Bobcats!!!
