Wins, wins, and more wins

Clearly Chamblee’s first two games were no flukes.

Chamblee sqaushed Therrell 61-0 in the Bulldog’s home opener on September 21. In a game expected to be close, the Bulldogs suprised the region with a 30-7 win over Blessed Trinity on September 28. Chamblee followed this impressive victory with a much anticapated triumph over Druid Hills 53-13 on October 5.

Here are a couple of statistics that really examplify Chamblee’s dominance. The Bulldogs have outscored their opponents 231-20 through their first five games. Chamblee averages 278.6 rushing yards a game. The Bulldogs post 7.74 yards per rushing attempt. Opponents only manage to muster a measly 123.8 total yards per game.

Contrary to these stats, there are apparent problems that need to be patched. Chamblee’s quarterback Garrett Williams has only 22 pass attempts on the season. If the run game ever falters, Williams will need to get more involved and make clutch plays to pull out a win. Another vulnerablility is the Bulldog’s pass defense. This weakness was exposed during the Druid Hills game when Chamblee was lit up for 272 passing yards. Against more prolific offenses, the Bulldogs will have a tough night if they cannot defend the pass.

However, many positives have emerged for the Bulldogs. Malcolm Beyah was spectacular in the last three games with 5 total touchdowns. The addition of Nhan Doan brings some consistency to the kicking game. He hit both of his field goal attempts against Blessed Trinity. Also, Warren Norman has been on fire lately. He has put up three straight 100 yard rushing games complemented by 4 offensive touchdowns.

The next game is against Chamblee’s biggest rival Dunwoody. This game is not only monumental to the Bulldog’s playoff hopes but also has pride and bragging rights attached to it. Last year, Chamblee lost in heartbreaking fashion in a highly competitive and intense game. The Bulldog’s early season sucess could all be offset by a lost to Dunwoody.

You do not lose to Dunwoody. If they don’t do anything else you don’t lose to them
