Mercy improved its record to 3-2 on the road last Friday against Glasscock. Our Lady of Mercy scored on its 3rd possession on a pass from William Pearl to Jarrell Bankhead to take the lead 7-0 with the extra point by Jacob Lecesne. Glasscock answered with a 80 yard drive and a 2 pt. conversion to take a 8-7 lead with 4:42 left in the 2nd quarter. OLM went back to their bread and butter of Pearl to Bankhead at the 3:18 mark with the extra point by Jacob Lecesne to take a 14-8 lead. Glasscock answered right back with a 57 yard drive to tie the score 14-14. The 2 pt. conversion failed and the half ended 14-14.
Glasscock opened the 2nd half with a 65-yard touchdown at the 8:02 mark in the 3rd quarter. The 2 pt. conversion failed. Glasscock took the lead for the 2nd time 20-14. Dominique McDermott answered with a touchdown for Mercy. After the extra point which made it 21-20, Mercy captured the lead for good. Mercy recovered a safety at the 4:19 mark of the 3rd quarter to make the score 23-20. Pearl to Bankhead combination hooked up one final time for the night to take a 30-20 lead at the 3:09 mark of the 3rd quarter. Glasscock scored in the 4th quarter to cut the Mercy lead 30-26. A touchdown by Dominique McDermott at the 3:45 mark gave Mercy a 37-26 lead. Christian Willis scored a 48-yard run with 2:08 left in the 4th quarter with the extra point by Lecesne to make it Mercy 44, Glasscock 26. Mercy was able to give its JV squad some valuable playing time at the end of the game while Glasscock scored the last points to make the final score: Mercy 44, Glasscock 34.
With this win over Glasscock, the Mercy Bobcats accomplished a lot:
-First three-game win streak in school history
-3 wins is most ever in a season
-Most points in a single game eclipsed for third straight game with 44 points
Next week, Mercy hosts ELCA for its Homecoming Game. Go Bobcats!!!!
