McIntosh vs. Starr’s Mill ends in defeat

The McIntosh/Starr’s Mill was anxious awaited throughout the week of October 1, 2007. Students were hurrying to purchase the now infamous “Black Swarm” tee-shirts, and everyone was pumped for the game. But no amount of school spirit could pull the McIntosh team out of the hole that was dug during the game.

The game started off well, with both good offensive and defensive plays. But the defense was needed on the field too often, and their weariness was seen before the end of the first half. The end score was 27-0, Starr’s Mill.

Many McIntosh Students and this blogger agree that the only way that the offense will be able to put up points and avoid have a worn-out “Black Swarm” defense, is to pass the ball. Too often on Friday nights do the Chiefs run the ball and end with a tackle.

Both sides are having great plays, notably the defense whose tackles seem to come out of nowhere. But a game is not won on defensive tackles alone.

In positive news this week, the Spirit of McIntosh had their first competition this past Saturday. Their show “Arabian Nights” features Senior Ai Taniguchi in the role as Scherazade who must keep the music going to stay alive. The color guard dances with pillows and scimitars on a flying carpet. The band received Best in Class, Best Brass, and Best Drum Major.
