War Eagles Not So War-Like
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Before last night’s game, Norcross was 4-1 and South Forsyth was 1-4. After the loss against the Peachtree Ridge Lions last week, we knew we had to come back strong, even on this not-so-good team. However, the game was a bit of an upset; we did come out strong, but oh how slow did it feel.
I felt that the first quarter of the game would never end. The Blue Devils nor the War Eagles could not get anything done. Near the start of the second quarter, S. Forsyth managed to move the score in their favor at 0-3, and the very small population of S. Forsyth fans cheered on their struggling team. When the scoreboard had finally changed, the Blue Devils began to cheer on the team. D.J. Adams stepped up his game with an 80-yard run touchdown to make it 7-3 for us.
“D.J. is one of those explosive backs,” Coach Maloof said. “He can break tackles and get in the open field and explode. D.J. came into his own.”
With not a single raindrop during the game, the band took the stage at half-time to play a fantastic show, further pumping up the stadium. The S. Forsyth side had no band with them at the game, so it must of been a little quiet on the near-empty visitor’s side.
The second half of the game, the Blue Devils hit the ground running with another touchdown in third, and then really pushing toward the end with 13 more points at the last quarter. While it was a slow game, we took it home at 27-3!
Fact Sheet:
NORCROSS 27, SOUTH FORSYTH 3
Norcross 0 7 7 13 = 27
South Forsyth 0 3 0 0 = 3
GO NORCROSS BLUE DEVILS, 5-1!!
