The Tear Jerker
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The players, the fans, everyone around Etowah High School thought it was going to be one of those unimaginable, undefeated seasons. That theory was snapped in two as we lost to Campbell on September 28.
Campbell’s quarterback was talked up before the game, so the fact that we held them to seven points is an amazing feat. So even though we suffered a loss, we suffered knowing we have a very athletic and hard working team.
During this game we suffered many many injuries. Jordan Padgett was hit with a sick tackle that should have probably been deemed a penalty. I haven’t heard any news about whether he will be able to play this coming Friday.
For the rest of the injuries and mishaps, I have only heard through the grape vine that key players Rylan Downing, Todd Poore, and Michael Turner may not be up to par for this Friday’s game against South Cobb.
For most fans, it would feel like their undefeated glorious season may be going down the drain. But if you attend Etowah then you know that us students will be in those stadium seats for the rest of the season cheering our team to victories and hoping for the best.
