A Game For The Ages…hopefully

Friday night, one of the biggest games in the state will be taking place in our house. The Lions Den. And it is sure to be packed by kickoff. The Norcross Blue Devils are undefeated and ranked #1 in the state. Quite frankly, nobody has really come close to beating them all year. Peachtree Ridge will be going into the game as an under dog. But we like it that way. Heck, half of the playoffs last year, we were under dogs. Look where that got us.

Fans at the game, will get to see one of the most anticipated matchups all season. It is the Norcross WR’s vs the Peachtree Ridge DB’s. The Blue Devils have two star Wide Receivers in the 5th ranked receiver in the nation #12 Brice Butler (USC signee) and #14 Devonta Bolton (Bama Signee). That is not all that the Devils have at WR either. Be on the look out for #21 Alex Napper, when you arent watching Butler or Bolton. The Peachtree Ridge Secondary is possibly the best in the state. Lead by #8 Derrick Bryant (LSU signee) and #9 Brandon Sanders (Ole Miss signee). The Lions DB’s already have a few interceptions on the year and have not let one team pass for over 100 yards all season. #12 Kavoskee Simpson and #4 Connor Norman have also played very well so far this year. Especially, Norman who has been in the game for the suspended Cameron Demps (VT Signee). It is unclear as to whether Demps will play on Friday.

Asher Clark will be the starting QB for the Lions and i believe he is a key to the game. Asher can be a very good quarterback as long as he has protection from his linemen. The O-Line which has been plagued by injuries is finally coming together as a unit and playing solid. I believe if they have a good night and give Clark time to throw then it could be a long night for the Devils Secondary. Also the Lions offense features a Triple Threat in the backfield with RB #3 Brandon Davis (UCF Signee), #38 Antonio Hayes, and #32 Ronnie Smith.
Norcross has two very talented QBs in Nick Sorel and Charles King. Their running game is very overlooked because of the skill at WR, but just be aware that they have talent in the backfield as well.

Overall i think it is going to be a great game, which will come down to the very end. Norcross is one of the only teams in the region that the Lions have yet to beat and we think this could be the year. One more thing id like to point out. Last year, Peachtree Ridge was in a similar situation. A vast underdog to the #1 ranked Blue Devils. But the Lions came out and shocked the state as they upset the Devils and took home the Region 7 Basketball Championship. It could happen again…only this time on the football field. My prediction is a Lions win 21-18 coming down to a Greg Johnson FG near the end. GO LIONS!
