Could Towns County Handle the Mercy Bobcats?

The mighty Bobcats fought a good game against Towns County on Friday, September 21st. The final score was 35-26, Our Lady of Mercy. Go Bobcats!!! Despite the much wanted victory, it was a rough night for the Bobcats as they faced some racial tension. This was highly uncalled for, but the fellow Bobcats were ready to defend their teammates.

Please let me know what you think about this… I want to hear from you!!!

People ask me why i get so angry when my teammates get called names or are picked on by the color of their skin. THey tell me i shouldnt care so much because im white, because im not in their shoes i dont understand what it is they are going through.

I have had almost a week to ponder on this thought, “Why did i get so upset when a Towns County player used a racial slur to put down one of my own?” And the only answer it is that i have for that question is that these players, the friends, the fellow bobcats are my brothers. I would walk through fire for these men, as i know they would do the same for me.

We have Mt. Zion this friday. I know we have lost to them in the past, but i like to see this week as the week we prove we can beat more then just towns county. I will not talk badly about Mt. Zion since i have nothing against the team, but i expect the game on friday to be a great game by both teams.

Thanks for reporting what took place in Towns County. It is unfortunate that our kids have to face racial issues in Georgia. I really do appreciate the team and coaches stepping up to address this issue. When you spend as much time together as these young men do, it is very difficult to allow someone to insulted or threatened and it not impact everyone. I am glad to see where they do stand as one team. With that attitude, they can overcome anything. I am so glad God saw fit for my son to attend Mercy.
