Lions Proceed to 2-0 in Region Play
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The Lions entered Friday’s game coming off of two week’s rest. While some may expect rusty play in the early quarters, the Lions came out sharp, jumping ahead to a two touchdown lead in the first 10 minutes. Sophomore quarterback Jonathan Carkhuff lead the charge, completing 10 of his first 11 passes. His most popular target was Max Williams, who hauled in 4 passes for 85 yards in the game. The Lions continued this tremendous offensive output through the second quarter, ending the first half with a 34-7 lead.
Avondale gained some momentum late in the first half and early in the second half with a 76 yard touchdown reception and 78 yard interception return by Greg Boyd, but it wasn’t enough. The game ended in a 55-13 victory for the Lions. The Lions have another important region game next week against Wesleyan.
Earlier this past week, on Thursday, the Lovett JV Football team played a great game as well. They shut out the St. Pius team, and shot off to a 13-0 victory. Their next game is against region rivals GAC next week.
