Lovett Football Update
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The Lovett Lions Varsity Football Team, coming off of its bye week, is preparing for their next opponent, Avondale. The Lions, after getting to the Dome last season, find (1-1) after two games. In their first region game against Clarkston Angoras, the Lions rebounded from a devastating (7-27) loss to the arch rival Westminster Wildcats just one week before by defeating the Angoras 35-6. Since the Westminster game, the attitude in practice has become more focused. The Lions plan to build and learn from the Westminster defeat, not allowing it to ruin a potentially great season.
Also, the Lovett JV Football Team is yet to have its first game. The game versus Woodward which was intended for last Thursday was canceled due to the weather. Their next game will September 20th against St. Pius. In addition, the 9th Grade Team is (1-0). The Freshman Lions got off to a good start, defeating St. Pius 41-8. Zach Boden lead to super-powered Lions offense to victory. Overall, Lion’s football is off to a good start and is looking to replicate the success of last year.
