Another win for Milton
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Milton had a great win Friday night beating Sprayberry 35-28.
The mood was set early in the game where Lance Martin blocked and returned a punt for a touchdown. The team seemed to keep the momentum all night where they never lost the lead. Both sides of the ball executed their schemes well and looked prepared.
The offense clearly wanted to run the ball on Sprayberry all night, and they did. The running game was consistent all game, and opened up the offense for Milton. The defense had another good game where they only gave up 14 points to a very quick Sprayberry offense. Sprayberry’s other two scores came off of a punt return and a kick return.
The special teams for Milton will need a little work, but that is normal for it being so early in the season.
The Eagles really seem to be coming together as a team after improving to 2-1. Next week they play Pope away, and Milton will be confident in defending their winning record.View image

OK, That makes 2 WINS
Lets take it game at a time. We saw a new achilles heal this weak in special teams. That will be fixed this week!
Dont underestimate Pope. Look what happened to Alpharetta last week
Work hard, work hard and work hard. Every game counts.
The defense was outstanding.A few missed blitzing assingnments, but none the less outstanding.A little bit less nickle defense.
Offensively, big improvement. Lets get someone in the press box to help the field coach withclock control!
The trick play for the TD was great. Had me fooled too !
Take it early and often to Pope. No time to let up

That was a win against…Sprayberry? Who,…Never heard of them! Milton needs to bring in some big boys in 5A - MLK, Lowdens, Norcross, Brookwood. But I will give you credit, you do have Roswell on schedule. They’ll probably play you closer than last year as they have too much on the line to play it close.

Nice to see the Eagles with a winning record. This is a significant accomplishment for a program that has seen much turmoil and unrest over the last five years.
The players and coaches deserve all the credit for their hard work over the last two years and it appears the program is ready to turn the corner toward a winning season.
Forget about Brookwood (enrollment 3,423), Norcross (2,833), and even Roswell (2,532). It’s easy to put winning teams on the field when you have enrollment that outdistances Milton in many cases by almost 1,000 students or more in the case of Brookwood.
For our Eagle players, you got a taste of winning while beating a very good Sprayberry team last week(Sprayberry will surprise some good teams later this year). Let’s make it 3 and 1 and take care of Pope this week!

Long time fan, you must be on something to think that Sprayberry will surprise some teams. Do you mean teams that will make the playoffs? There is only 1 team that MIGHT make the playoff on Sprayberry’s schedule: Walton. Are you telling me they are going to surprise Walton? don’t think so.
Dude or Madam, you need some playas, small slow WR’s, Big slow unaggressive linemen and a Big SLOW inaccurate QB ain’t going to get it done.
I will show some love for Tony Williams -that boy’s got game. He should be playing for Northview, or one of the Gwinnett teams.
Can you imagine how competitive Gwinnett County would be if Him, DJ Adams [Norcross] Diante Drake {CG], Quinton Cobb [Duluth], Kenny Williams / Juilian Suber [Brookwood] and the kid from Parkview would be?
I’m looking at Sprayberry’s schedule, dude it is WEAK!

Spiderman, you must be on something to thnk the entire high school football scene in Georgia revolves around Gwinnett County schools?
In the end there’s one thing for sure…it might not be Milton winning the large school state championship, but it won’t be a Gwinnett county school either!

Long time fan, what would this board be like if everybody got on and agreed with you?
I’m serious about what I said, but I’m just busting your chops.
Good luck Milton raise some hell against Roswell, Chat, and the rest of ‘em.

I hear all the talk about other teams and their great players. Lets look at Milton. First you have two of the best, with Lance Martin and Tony Williams in the backfield. Second, you have Andrew Mathieson at QB, and he is very sound, IF he has time to throw…and he will as the young line developes. Finally, the Defense, lead by LB Drew Collins, has been fantastic. He is fast, and hits like a freight train.
I like the odds of Milton making it to the playoffs. after that ANYTHING can happen !
Right now they need to concentrate on POPE

I’ll bet your cup is always half empty, and never half full. It is easy to be pesimistic.

Ok, I was willing to let this go but Spidy opened mouth and insert foot.
Tony Williams is a Playa, not going there. But he does need to transfer to Collins Hill for his sake. Lance Martin,..too small.
Mathieson, who are you his mommy or something. This Big, Slow inaccurate kid was held to a GLAZE DOUNUT against Etowah and only 14 against Forsyth,…very sound R U KIDDING ME!!! Your actually killing me. Any QB in the Country worth a salt would drop 35 on any of the Forsyth schools.
If Drew Collins is so good and Fantasic where was he in those 8 losses you have I MEANT YOUR GOING TO HAVE AT THE END OF THE SEASON.
