Another Win For the Raiders
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Friday night’s game was nothing short of an action packed adventure. Last time the Raiders took on the Lasers it was an easy victory, with the Laser not putting one point on the scoreboard. However, that was not the case Friday. It was as close game with the Raiders winning in overtime by one point. When asked about the game the Southside Lasers refused to comment. Yet they handed off backhanded comments like, “They cheated.”
Nonetheless, bad attitudes did not stop the Raiders from having a great game. Players # 4 Jay Scott, # 11 Charlie Hollman, # 6 Lefloyd Phillips, # 13 Jay Brown, and # 1 Demetrius Hightower, were among the outstanding players of the night. Just after halftime, # 11 Charlie Hollman suffered an injury and was forced to watch the game from the sidelines. However, he was back in the game by fourth quarter contributing greatly to our one point win.
Raider Mania was again in full force on Friday night, perhaps even more so than last week. The stands were full of fans young and old alike. A group of boys even went as far as to paint their bodies blue and white to spell out go Riverwood. Needless to say it was like the Raiders won a championship when they ending up winning 14-13 in overtime. Let’s hope our winning streak continues this Saturday as we take on South Atlanta at Grady.
