West Forsyth is 2-0
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Friday night’s game was a hit! The turnout for the game was well over 3000 people and the support that everyone gave to the Wolverines was tremendous. The first half of the first quarter consisted mainly of trading possession a few times and no touchdowns. That all changed when Rusty Juneu made an amazing twenty-eight yard run down the field after faking out an innumerable amount of East Jackson players, putting us into position for a touchdown made by Jacob Sloan. Shortly after the Wolverines followed up the touchdown with two extra points run in by Ethan Shirley who received an incredible pass from the quarterback, Lance Baker.
The second quarter began slowly, just as the first quarter had and consisted of a lot of changing of possession until the very end with only seven and a half seconds left. East Jackson made a touchdown followed by running in two extra points, leaving the score tied at Halftime.
The halftime show was phenomenal. Thank you to the East Jackson band and to the West Forsyth band for both of your wonderful performances.
I missed the first half of the third quarter because I had to get something to eat and do a little socializing…what can I say? When I got back to the game not much had happened, although I did hear some cheering from the West fans, so I’m guessing it was a really nice play. Either way, when I returned the score was still tied up. With two minutes left in the quarter though, I did watch as Lance Baker made another amazing pass to Ethan Shirley who scored West Forsyth’s second touchdown, bringing the score up to fourteen to eight with West Forsyth still in the lead. Unfortunately the Wolverines didn’t get an extra point, thus concluding the third quarter.
Fourth quarter started off with a very stunning run by East Jackson, dodging all of the West Forsyth defenses and gaining well over fifty yards until they were finally brought down. Luckily for West, East Jackson had broken some rule in doing this. East Jackson was brought all the way back to where they had started from, so essentially they hadn’t gained anything. Later on in the quarter Lance Baker was put in a position that left him with only one option - to run. Once he got through East Jackson’s defenses he made an incredible fifty-one yard run towards the end zone until he was tackled at the twenty-four yard line, putting West in range for a third touchdown. A few plays went by and West got a penalty and was sent back ten yards. A few more plays went by and Lance Baker made a pass towards the end zone but it was intercepted. East Jackson pushed us back into our end of the field until they were well in range of their own touchdown. East Jackson ended up on the twenty yard line with two minutes left in the game, and despite their efforts, the Wolverines held them off for two whole minutes and sealed their fate as the victors. Congratulations to the Wolverines on their second win!
Also, I would like to congratulate the softball team on their first win, Coach Orr on his 400th career win, and the freshman football team on their win on Thursday night. Good Job everyone!

Didn’t I tell you not to post faults you had with the halftime shows?
Yeah, I thought so…
