McIntosh is defeated by East Coweta
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
After last week’s game anything seemed possible for the McIntosh Chiefs. The players were ready. The fans were pumped, making the 20 minute drive to support their players. The Chiefs played well, but were unfortunately defeated by the East Coweta Indians last night.
The first quarter proved that the teams were pretty equally matched. At the end of the quarter the score remained at 0-0. In the second quarter East Coweta scored a touchdown followed by McIntosh kicking in a field goal. This made the score 7-3, East Coweta, at the end of the first half.
McIntosh took the lead in the third quarter. After a 10 minute drive, Jeff Prather threw a 14 yard touchdown to Bradley Larson, making the score 10-7 with McIntosh in lead. They held onto this score for the rest of the quarter.
In the fourth quarter with seven minutes to go McIntosh still had the lead. East Coweta was close to the end zone and went for a touchdown. Quarterback Ben Sims batted the ball down, but it landed in the hands of the Indians who then ran it in for a successful touchdown. A few minutes later East Coweta took a fumble and ran it to the end zone making the score 20-10, East Coweta. McIntosh played hard, but were not able to recover from the two touchdowns.
Last nights game featured many stand out players on McIntosh’s side. Nick Popiel, a fullback, had an astounding 100 rushing yards during the game and Matt Mateos kicked a field goal for the Chiefs. Bradley Larson made countless tackles and scored the touchdown with the help of Jeff Prather.
Even after last nights defeat, McIntosh fans, myself included, are still convinced that we will come out on top this year!!! Good luck Chiefs!!!!
